Chapter 446: The Born Legend, The Beast That Devours Everything! (Two in One) - Part 2
Thanks to the church's previous blockade and the rumors of a demonic curse, this mining area was deserted, with not a single person in sight.
However, Lynn was well aware that all of this was just a facade.
Aurora, skilled in visual illusion techniques, had set up a massive polarization magic here. The airship seemed to pass through a thin layer of water, and the interior scenery soon unfolded before him.
The mining area was very spacious, and the security was extremely tight; everywhere, one could see musketeers carrying new flintlock rifles standing guard and patrolling.
The moment the airship penetrated the magic barrier, it was already targeted by several machine guns and electromagnetic cannons; this was only because Lynn had beforehand sent a message via electromagnetic waves, otherwise, the entire airship would have been turned into a sieve by now.
This rigorous precaution was specifically instructed by Lynn, as the security level of this uranium mine was even higher than that of the capital and Fire Oil City!
After all, if that false god got his hands on a sample of uranium, there was a high probability that he could replicate his Big Nuclear Explosion Technique.
Then the Sword of Damocles hanging over the enemy's head would turn against them!
The airship gently landed on an open space in the mining area; Rafael, Alade, and Sanchez, who had received the message in advance, were already waiting there early.
"It's really rare, Master Lynn, it seems your new research is complete?" Rafael warmly came forward and embraced Lynn.
He knew that this star of magic had been holed up in his laboratory recently, engrossed in new magical theories.
Last time, he had uncovered the internal structure of an atom, creating the terrifying Big Nuclear Explosion Technique; who knew what grand ideas he might come up with this time.
"Sort of," Lynn nodded, but he didn't divulge any details, instead he inquired, "What about the monster that attacked the miners? Have you found any traces of it?"
"Not yet!" Rafael shook his head in frustration. "It's very fast, and appears and disappears without a trace. So far, we haven't even found a single hair of it, let alone know what it actually looks like."
As Rafael spoke, he showed Lynn the bodies of the attacked miners.
The sight was brutally gruesome, with bodies almost all dismembered by a single blow; large amounts of flesh mixed with blood were piled up together, but Lynn still sharply noticed that these bodies had not been eaten.
Instead, a damaged golem nearby had half of its head gnawed away.
Was flesh not in the creature's dietary range?
Lynn immediately considered this, growing increasingly interested in this peculiar monster.
Since it wasn't hunting, then the reason for these miners' attacks was worth pondering.
"Where were they attacked?" Lynn asked thoughtfully.
"Deep inside the uranium mine," Rafael replied.
Tests had shown that the closer to the depths of the mine, the stronger the radiation was; therefore, they suspected that the deepest part of the mine was the monster's lair, but they didn't dare to enter recklessly.
Lynn immediately understood; it seemed the miners had stepped into the creature's territory and had been killed as intruders.
"Moreover, we've discovered that this creature seems to have an interest in high-energy objects that it hasn't eaten, planning to use this as bait in setting a trap to lure it," Alade spoke with a smirk. "So your arrival today is just in time, Master Lynn, otherwise just the three of us might not have the capacity to capture it."
After seeing the damage on the golem's head, Rafael and the others had already prepared to request support from the Council. At the very least, they needed a chairman to come over to possibly solve this issue.
They knew how hard the golem was, completely made of mithril; it must have powerful jaws to gnaw its head off and directly swallow it!
Facing such an adversary, even the great wizards felt somewhat timid.
Fortunately, Lynn's timely arrival gave Rafael and the others full confidence!
With the Big Nuclear Explosion Technique, in the eyes of many wizards, this star of magic had suddenly become the highest combat power of the entire Wizard Council!
Unlike Rafael and the others, who were full of confidence, Lynn was not sure he could handle it.
In his memory, creatures that could devour nuclear fuel only existed in the fantasy of an old movie from his previous life.
Is it called … Godzilla?
But this mine clearly couldn't accommodate such a huge creature …
Under Rafael and the others' cordial invitation, Lynn had agreed to this capture operation. It would be somewhat unreasonable to request support without even seeing the creature first.
Even if the capture failed, they could at least figure out more about the other party.
…
Setting up the trap took roughly the whole morning, and Rafael's methods were quite simple. He had the miners enter the deep parts of the mine and continue to mine the ores as before.
The slight difference was that many magic power-infused Mithril ores were placed beside them.
This fulfilled the two conditions they speculated would trigger an attack …
Quality food and an invasion of territory!
"I say, isn't this a bit too obvious?" Lynn, who was using Illusion Technique to hide in the corner, couldn't help but comment as he glanced at the prominent alchemy runes above and beneath them.
"It should be fine as long as they are not activated, there won't be any magical fluctuations," Rafael said confidently. He didn't believe that the simple-minded magical beasts could understand the meaning of the runes.
Lynn shook his head, said nothing more, and instead focused on the miners.
These baits obviously knew they were in danger. Their mining activities did not stop, but their legs were trembling faintly.
However, Lynn felt no pity for them because only two kinds of people would end up mining uranium—an ore these individuals were tasked with. It was either nobles who often enslaved the poor, or serious criminals facing the death penalty.
Since they were in, to secure information, there was no possibility of them getting out. Being radiated during the uranium mining process was thus a sort of alternative punishment.
As for the captured Believers, Lynn dared not let them come near here. After all, their souls were supposed to 'ascend' to heaven upon death. That would be akin to unwittingly passing on information to "Aira," so he sent them all to build roads instead!
Lynn, Rafael, Alade, and Sanchez just quietly waited, with the relentless roar of machinery ringing in their ears, the sound emanating from the drills in the workers' hands.
However, after waiting for ten hours, they did not encounter the so-called attack.
"Could it be that it's already full?" Alade, growing a bit impatient, couldn't help but speculate.
Rafael was also unsure if something was wrong with his setup.
Just as they were considering whether to stop the workers and try again tomorrow, Lynn suddenly spoke.
"It's probably already here."
"Where?" Rafael quickly inquired.
Lynn did not respond because he didn't know either, but a sense of an almost imperceptible threat started to surface in his mind.
Just as the miners were about to load the mined uranium ore onto the mine cart and leave, a blue streak of light flashed across. The world seemed to split into two halves, and red blood sprayed out. In an instant, five miners, along with the mine cart, were torn into pieces …
Such incredible speed …
A chill suddenly rose in everyone's hearts, and Lynn finally caught a glimpse of the entire form of this magical beast. It was about two meters tall, covered in blue, and its shape resembled a beast. Its skin, like flowing flames, constantly shifted …
No, describing it as skin wasn't quite accurate because it had no flesh. Its body was made of pure energy, a type of pure energy or elemental creature he had never seen before …
A natural legend?!
The thought of running away already flashed through Lynn's mind …
