I Died in a Knife Fight and Reincarnated into Jujutsu Kaisen

Chapter 18: Chapter 18 Bonus

Mahito stood in the clearing, a self-satisfied smile spreading across his face like a mask he wore with pride. His twisted elation hung in the still air like a suffocating fog, rendering the atmosphere heavy and charged with malice. At his feet lay the crumpled form of Junpei, his lifeless body small and fragile against the backdrop of the devastated earth, a haunting reminder of what had just transpired.

Yuji dropped to his knees, the world around him fading into a blur. Sounds and colours receded, leaving only the stark, cold reality of his friend's lifeless body, which now felt like a weight he could scarcely bear. A cruel finality settled over him as he registered the truth: Junpei was dead.

"YOU FUCKING BASTARD!" he roared, the words ripping from his throat with a violence that echoed through the clearing like shrapnel in a battlefield. In that moment of righteous fury, his cursed energy erupted from within him, flaring into a chaotic mix of red and black that surged around him in jagged, pulsating waves. The very air seemed to vibrate under the pressure of his wrath, and fissures splintered across the ground as if reality itself was buckling beneath his emotional storm.

Mahito merely grinned, an infuriatingly calm expression that seemed to mock Yuji's anguish. "You humans are always so dramatic," he drawled, his voice dripping with condescension.

Standing nearby, Alex remained silent, his expression an aloof mask of icy composure. Yet, even he could sense the tempest brewing within Yuji, a storm that went far beyond mere grief. This was raw, unadulterated rage, a primal force ready to unleash hell.

"You made me do this," Yuji hissed through gritted teeth, his hands balled into fists so tightly that his knuckles shone pale against the backdrop of his tensed muscles. "You tricked him. You used him. You killed him like he was NOTHING!"

Mahito shrugged nonchalantly, his smug demeanour unshaken. "He chose his path," he replied dismissively, exuding a chilling indifference.

"No," Yuji countered, his voice low and seething. "You chose it for him."

In an instant, determination ignited within him, and he lunged forward like a bolt of lightning. Cursed energy surged through him, empowering his movements with an electric intensity. Before Mahito could fully register the shift, Yuji's fist collided with his face, the impact reverberating through the clearing and sending the curse hurtling backwards into a wall of stone. The entire structure trembled and cracked, the sound akin to thunder rolling across the horizon.

But Yuji was relentless. Even as the dust began to settle, he was already upon Mahito, his knee driving hard into the curse's ribs, a powerful strike fueled by grief and fury. Mahito, momentarily stunned by the force of the assault, let out a strained laugh that echoed through the chaos, tainted with pain and mocking delight.

Yuji's heart pounded like a drum in his chest, drowning out everything but the thundering roar of his betrayal. He didn't care about the consequences anymore; all he felt was an overwhelming need for vengeance. His fists rained down on Mahito with relentless fury, each blow fueled by the anguish and sorrow that welled up inside him.

He hit again. And again. And again. Each strike was a scream, a shout of despair resonating deep within him, echoing the memories of the one they had lost. He trusted you. He was kind. He just wanted to live. And now YOU KILLED HIM!

"YOU DON'T GET TO LAUGH!" Yuji bellowed, his voice raw with emotion. The sound was almost primal, a raw expression of the grief that twisted in his gut like a living thing.

Mahito, with a glint of cruelty in his eyes, attempted to retaliate, but Yuji was quicker. In one swift motion, he caught the curse's arm, its skeletal, twisted form, before driving it into the ground with a force that cracked the earth beneath them, sending up a spray of dirt and debris. The impact resonated like thunder.

Just then, Alex moved, a flash of motion that cut through the chaos. He appeared behind Mahito, a blur that seemed almost otherworldly. With sudden, decisive strength, he locked his arms around Mahito's torso, restraining him and trapping the cursed spirit in a vice-like grip.

"He's all yours," Alex said in a voice as cold as ice, devoid of any warmth or remorse. "Make it hurt."

Yuji's chest heaved as he stepped forward, fists clenched tightly at his sides. He struck Mahito with an explosive force, connecting with the monster's face. The curse recoiled, but Yuji didn't stop. He followed up with a brutal punch to the gut, feeling the wind escape from Mahito's lungs, and then swept low to land a hit at the legs, causing Mahito to stagger.

Mahito twisted and howled, no longer smug or confident. Blood sprayed from his mouth. His voice cracked. "STOP! You worthless little shits, it hurts! IT HURTS!"

Yuji struck again, silent tears pouring down his cheeks.

"I'LL KILL YOU, YOU FUCKING BASTARD!"

Cursed energy flared violently around Yuji, creating a swirling tempest of power that distorted the air. The ground beneath him cracked and fractured, giving way under the sheer weight of his fury. His aura radiated with murderous intent, vibrant red lightning dancing dangerously around his fists, illuminating the darkened battlefield as he prepared to deliver the final blows.

"This is what you deserve!"

But Mahito began to reform. Limbs twisting, flesh patching. A grotesque regeneration.

Yuji froze.

Alex's voice cut through the rage. Calm. Icy. Final.

"Then I'll finish it."

With a swift and resolute motion, he clamped his hand around Mahito's skull, fingers digging into the cursed entity's form. A low, resonant hum vibrated in the air as Alex focused intently, his intentions crystal clear. He began to pour a surge of cursed energy directly into the very core of Mahito's brain, but this was no ordinary energy; it was reverse vector compression, a technique as deadly as it was intricate.

As the energy flowed, Alex manipulated its course with precision, turning the tide of its flow inward as if drawing the very essence of Mahito's power back upon itself. He envisioned the chaos he was about to unleash: blood that once coursed freely through veins would be forcibly redirected, and nerves that transmitted signals with ease would become paralysed and silent.

Inside Mahito's brain, a tumultuous storm erupted. Electrons, the building blocks of thought and action, began to short-circuit as their pathways were disrupted by Alex's relentless assault. Each process, meticulously crafted over countless battles, twisted and turned inside out, unravelling the very fabric of Mahito's being. In that moment, Alex aimed to obliterate the curse from within, ensuring that nothing would survive the cataclysm he had set in motion.

Mahito spasmed violently. Blood poured from his eyes, his nose, and his mouth. His body collapsed inward, organs rupturing, bones folding.

He screamed.

"NO! I DON'T WANT TO DIE! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL YOU BOTH—NO, NO, NO, PLEASE! IT HURTS, IT HURTS, STOP!"

But Alex didn't stop.

It was not an execution.

It was erasure.

When Mahito fell to the ground, he was no longer a shape. Just a smear of blood, bone, and curse residue.

Yuji fell beside it. Gasping. Broken. Tears are still falling.

Alex stood above them both. Cold. Silent.

"That's what you do to monsters," he said.

Yuji didn't answer.

Only the wind.

And the weight of what they'd lost.
