Chapter 86: Does S.H.I.E.L.D. Provide Partners Too?
Su Ye didn't stay long at the bar. Since Mai Shiranui was on her regular leave, he didn't need to show up every night.
By the way, Su Ye recently felt a sudden sense of crisis. With only Gwen and Mai Shiranui as his official girlfriends, he already felt a bit overwhelmed. If he got more girlfriends in the future, how would he cope?
If he only spent one day a month with each girlfriend, wouldn't that be a bit too little?
The fortunate thing for now was that his girlfriends hadn't met or gotten to know each other, so there had been no "hellish" confrontations. The thought of them all gathering together later sent a chill down his spine.
When Su Ye left the bar, he made a stop at the Shiranui Dojo.
The night before, a corner of the roof here had just been blown off. Who did it wasn't important since S.H.I.E.L.D. promised to handle the repairs. Su Ye came to check if it was fixed and to get some updates on Thor.
After all, this was the Marvel Universe. Interacting too much with that lunatic Joker wasn't fun; assisting Joe Higashi with some destruction was enough.
When Su Ye arrived at the Shiranui Dojo, it was already midnight, but the place was brightly lit. Various equipment surrounded Thor's hammer in the courtyard, going around it multiple times. Who knew if they had made any progress in their research?
As the owner of the Shiranui Dojo, Su Ye was well-known among these agents. Even those who didn't know him before remembered his performance from the other night—like almost knocking out Hawkeye from dozens of meters away with a single blast.
When Su Ye was spotted from afar, the news was quickly reported. By the time he reached the entrance, someone was already waiting for him.
"Mr. Su, our superior is waiting for you inside. Please follow me!"
The speaker was a female agent wearing a baseball cap—not Black Widow, but a younger woman with longer legs and a taller frame. Her face and figure were just as striking as Widow's.
"Alright, please lead the way."
Su Ye smiled and nodded, then followed the agent. Along the way, with his exceptional observational and analytical skills, he calculated a set of numbers: 180-97-66-92.
These numbers were Su Ye's way of compensating for his face blindness, as he looked at the agent.
(Changed the actress unilaterally. If you don't like it, feel free to stick with the original version.)
Following the baseball cap agent, Su Ye arrived at a room inside. As he entered, he saw a man dressed entirely in black, with only one eye, on the other was a black eye patch.
"Hello, Mr. Su."
The one-eyed man was none other than S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury. On the table before him lay a dossier, with the name "Su Mutiang" prominently displayed on the first page.
Su Mutiang, also known as Su Ye's father, Old Su, was originally a small-time workshop owner. But thanks to the system, he was transformed into a major shareholder of Oscorp, a behind-the-scenes tycoon worth over a trillion in Dragon Country's currency.
Su Ye believed that Old Su's identity information wasn't a secret to S.H.I.E.L.D.
Of course, this only applied to Old Su's current identity. If Su Ye's girlfriend cards later summoned someone like Lois Lane or Bulma, even Nick Fury might have trouble digging deeper.
And if such an Old Su existed in Dragon Country, would that old hag dare to show off? He'd obliterate her from the skies without leaving a trace of evidence.
In other words, the more girlfriend cards Su Ye unlocked and the more abilities he gained, the more Old Su might actually benefit?
Dragon Country's security would become even more impenetrable!
But in that case, was this system actually Old Su's cheat, or Su Ye's cheat?
Su Ye suddenly felt like all his hard work was just him working for Old Su. Those girlfriends were merely the consolation prizes Old Su handed out after exploiting him.
Thinking of this made Su Ye inexplicably unhappy, and even his gaze toward Nick Fury grew a little irritated.
"You're their boss? Did you call me here to discuss compensation for extending the lease on the site?" Su Ye asked with a frown.
Nick Fury frowned slightly. This didn't seem to match Coulson's description—Su Ye didn't seem as easygoing as he was led to believe.
"Well," Nick Fury coughed lightly, "I'm the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is affiliated with the United Nations' International Security Council. We are an international task force responsible for handling extraordinary incidents worldwide."
"So?" Su Ye chuckled lightly.
Hearing Nick Fury's tone, Su Ye roughly understood his intentions. Was he planning to recruit him as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s lackey, like Tony Stark?
A major shareholder of Oscorp, worth billions in USD, and a martial artist capable of taking down agents from dozens of meters away—such a profile did seem fitting for S.H.I.E.L.D.
Hmm, they probably hadn't discovered the identities of Spider-Man or Batman yet. Su Ye felt optimistic about that.
"So, I hope you'll join S.H.I.E.L.D. and help us protect this world!" Nick Fury got straight to the point without any further preamble.
As S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director, Nick Fury was extremely busy. The fact that he personally took time to meet with Su Ye was already a show of sincerity.
Su Ye could certainly feel this sincerity, but he didn't think it was enough.
"What are the benefits of joining S.H.I.E.L.D.? Do you assign partners?"
As he spoke, Su Ye pointed at the baseball cap-wearing female agent beside him. "Someone like her would be fine. If you guarantee partner assignments, I'm in."
The baseball cap agent, Sharon Carter, instantly blushed.
She had been tailing Su Ye for a while and was familiar with his physique and nighttime combat prowess. The thought of not being able to endure such intensity every night—barely sleeping a few hours until dawn—made her hastily shake her head.
Nick Fury's face darkened even more.
"Mr. Su, this is the U.S., not Dragon Country. And as far as I know, Dragon Country doesn't guarantee partner assignments anymore either!"
Su Ye shrugged. "Since neither of you guarantees partner assignments, why should I join? S.H.I.E.L.D. is a U.N. organization, so you must have a representative from Dragon Country. Can I meet them?"
"This…" Nick Fury was momentarily stunned.
S.H.I.E.L.D. was indeed officially a U.N. department, but most of its operations and recruitment were based in the U.S. A Dragon Country representative? There wasn't one!
Su Ye's eyes suddenly lit up. "No Dragon Country representative? Then I'll take that position!"
