This morning, Dante brought Luna into this world for the first time to strengthen her so she can properly guard his parents. When he was looking at the Job Board, searching for an easy enough task as Herdier's first dungeon, Corphish approached them.
As it turns out, a client specifically entrusted him to urgently retrieve an item in a dungeon named the Thunderwave Cave. He once conquered that dungeon with the help of Sunflora, but later avoided it because of the many Electric-type Pokemon present.
When he learned that the task location was this dungeon, Corphish was about to refuse until he saw Pikachu and Dante. With Pikachu's Lightning Rod Ability, he wouldn't have to worry about the electric attacks of the Pokemon there.
And after learning that the dungeon was only D-level, Dante agreed. D-level dungeons only have Pokemon with stats ranging from 16-25, which is just suitable for Herdier.
Back at the entrance of the cave, Herdier was curiously looking around, fascinated with this world Dante brought her in.
"Hey, hey! Are you sure about bringing this rookie for a dungeon exploration?"
"Haha, it's alright. With our strength, it would be easy to bring her along."
Thinking of the Omnipotent Traveler's achievement, and the dungeons they explored already reaching the S level, Corphish was reassured.

After leveling up a few times and having Gummi drinks, she'd quickly grow strong in no time.
The Pokemon they encountered in the dungeon were Rattata, Nidoran, Voltorb, Elekid, Plusle, Minun, and Poochyena. Dante, Pikachu, and Azumarill only had to use casual attacks to take them down. After seeing this, Corphish grew envious.
"Hey, hey! If only I could have evolved, I'm sure I'm already much more powerful now. Maybe I would have also reached the Gold Rank. I hope the time distortion around the world gets better quickly, hey, hey."

The resulting battle was a complete massacre. Paul formed a team composed of Aggron, Metagross, Electivire, Weavile, Froslass, and Nidoking. All of them countering the Flying-type which Timmy specialized in.
From the beginning to the end, all the efforts Timmy made to resist were futile. Even with all his Pokemon's speed boosted by Tailwind, a Blizzard empowered with Hail, showers of rock, and rain of thunder throughout the battlefield made the increase in speed useless.
After that battle, there was an interview for the winner.
"Mr. Paul, as this year's National Champion, do you want to say anything to everyone watching us right now?"
"This is just the first step. I'll come back again in the Champion's Tournament and take the throne from Alder."
The Champion's Tournament is a competition held a year before the World Masters Tournament. It's where the Gym Leaders in each region, the Elite Four, and the Trainers who obtained the qualification will compete together.
The top four will be labeled as the new Elite Four, with the winner competing with the current Champion for a chance to replace their position.
"Oh! What about next year's eh- Mr. Paul? Mr. Paul!"
Paul ignored the interviewer and proceeded to leave. As he walked through the hallways leading to the outside, cheers erupted from the stadium where the audience was sitting. A brief smile appeared on Paul's face before quickly disappearing.
On one of the seats in the stadium, Shinobu nudged Dante after seeing the interview.
"Hah! He's even more arrogant than you, Dan. The both of you even have the same goal."
"I prefer to describe myself as 'confident'. Arrogance is when you don't have the strength to back up your words."
"Well, now that you've defeated a Champion, I really can't argue against that. I still can't believe how fast Pikachu grew in strength just by having the Light Ball."
"Well, it's an exclusive item for their race after all. Pikachu is just awesome and can fully use it, unlike the others of his kind."
"Pika-pi!"
"By the way, regarding your message, I've already told Ms. Erika about it. She said she's free to take you on any time next week."
"Nice! Thanks, Shinobu!"
Dante gave Shinobu a quick hug, a smile spreading on his face. Although the National Competition has already ended, most Gyms would still wait for June to end before opening up.
Luckily, Shinobu was apprenticed to Ms. Erika. Through her, he was able to challenge the Gym a week earlier than usual, just in time before they entered University.
