Chapter 684: Penguin Slide

"Hmm, hmm, hmm, ah~~~~ah~~~"

Upon arriving at the penguin enclosure, they immediately heard the distinctively loud braying of the African penguins.

In Linhai, the temperature had dropped with the arrival of autumn, so there was no need to worry about the slide's temperature being too high and scorching the penguins' feet; the slide was thus erected.

Previously, the penguins would jump directly from the rocks, but now they had the option to slide into the water.

This was not only to add a source of entertainment for the penguins and make it fun for the visitors to watch but also to demonstrate the penguins' natural sliding behavior near water, achieving multiple benefits in one go.

A chubby penguin stood by the slide, looking down as if hesitating!

It stood there for a long time without moving, with other penguins queuing up behind it waiting their turn.

A penguin swam in the water, then climbed ashore and shook off the water droplets from its body.

With its head thrusting forward and feet gathered together, it opened its little wings slightly and gave a gentle hop onto the first stone step.

Then it wobbled up to the platform above with an unsteady gait.

Upon reaching the platform, it stumbled and fell, crashing into the queueing penguins.

The penguin in the queue was jostled and flapped its little wings trying to maintain balance, but still got squeezed forward, bumping into the chubby penguin standing at the edge of the slide, who was still hesitating, and nudged it forwards.

"Ahh!"

Caught off guard, the chubby penguin let out a startled cry, kicked its feet frantically while lying on its back.

Its round body even bounced lightly with a "Duang" on the slide and suddenly felt the world spinning as it tumbled down into the water with a plop!

It caused a big splash of white bubbles.

The queueing penguins paused for a moment, stretching their necks to look down.

Oh no, how did I push it down, I didn't mean to!

Turning its head, it exchanged glances with the swimming penguin, which looked completely innocent.

"Hahaha!"

"Hey, did you see that? The one behind just pushed it down! That's so funny."

"Penguins are so much fun!"

The tourists who witnessed the scene couldn't help but laugh non-stop, and Mother Fang even laughed with a sound like a goose honking.

After a day at the zoo, seeing all sorts of cute animals, everyone had a great time.

By around 5 o'clock, Fang Ye had taken them to have dinner at the Panda Restaurant and then to the hot spring hotel.

The rooms in the hot spring hotel were all booked up for the National Day holiday!

However, Fang Ye had specially reminded the hotel to keep a few rooms reserved for the parents.

The parents looked around curiously at the environment of the hot spring hotel!

In the courtyard was a pond with a rockery, decorated with a variety of green plants, green lotus leaves floating on the surface of the pond, creating a tranquil and elegant atmosphere that immediately made them feel relaxed.

Fang Ye smiled and said, "What do you think, isn't the setting quite nice?"

Mother Fang praised, "Wow, it really is nice! It's even more beautiful than the hot spring hotel we stayed at in Japan last time."

Fang Ye was surprised, "When did you guys sneak off to Japan for fun without me knowing? Didn't you say you were busy with work?"

Father Fang cleared his throat and said, "Cough cough! One must enjoy life too."

Lan Li couldn't help but lower his head and snicker quietly!

Initially, he had speculated whether Fang Ye's family was involved in some dramatic, wealthy family saga.

But now, after getting to know them, he found that Mother Fang was quite easy-going and pleasant to be around, and she was very warm towards him.

Father Fang appeared serious and not prone to smile, but in reality, he was the tsundere type.

They approached the front desk and had the attendant arrange a few vacant rooms.

After handing over the keys and swimwear, the attendant enthusiastically asked, "Would you like to try any special ingredients for the hot spring? We have red wine baths, petal baths, medicinal herb baths, and more!"

Lan Li's mother shook her head, "I don't really understand this stuff. You decide for us."

Turning around, Fang Ye chuckled, "How about a medicinal herb bath for you? The medicinal baths at our hot spring hotel are particularly amazing. It's a secret recipe I learned from an experienced traditional Chinese medicine doctor, which is very helpful for relieving physical fatigue. You've worked hard, so take the time to relax properly."

"Alright, then thank you, little Fang."

Lan Li's parents glanced at the price list behind them, and though they didn't have to pay, they were inwardly astonished, "Goodness, that medicinal bath is expensive, 1500!"

But indeed, soaking in the hot spring was very comfortable.

Bathing in the steaming waters, the warm embrace seemed like a skilled masseuse continuously working over the body, every pore opening up, making the bones feel lighter by ounces.

After soaking in the hot spring, they would take a sip of the golden, glutinous rice wine chilled in an ice bucket.

The cold, crisp liquid unfurled, with the fragrant, refreshing aroma of rice and a hint of alcohol lingering in the mouth.

"Ah~"

With a long sigh of contentment, they felt completely relaxed, which they hadn't experienced in decades!

During the National Day holidays, they spent several days touring the zoo with the parents, thoroughly enjoying themselves.

They visited the animal zoo during the day and bathed in the hot springs at night.

It wasn't that they didn't want to go to other places, but Linhai's main attraction was the zoo.

At the Panda Restaurant and Lion Restaurant, they served organic rice grown by the zoo and dishes made from vegetables cultivated with spiritual soil and water. The food was not only delicious, but they could also admire animals while dining, an experience unmatched by other restaurants.

The parents were indeed very satisfied with the hospitality.

...

After sending the parents home, Lan Li and Fang Ye moved back together and returned to their usual life.

Lan Li was cooking in the kitchen while Fang Ye leaned on the sofa, casually browsing through his phone.

Suddenly, he saw someone had posted a photo of a police report, stating that a tourist had violated the park rules by getting out of their car in a self-drive tour area and trespassing into the tiger enclosure.

"Really disgusting! If you don't want to live, go jump in the river. The tigers still want to live!"

"I happen to be watching TV, and it's broadcasting the news right now!"

"It's really a menace to the tigers."

"But looking at the tigers' expressions, I can't help but laugh! They all look so bewildered."

"Thankfully, they faced the tigers; they probably would have been attacked if they had their backs turned."

"From what I saw in the news, it seems they had to use food bait and firecrackers to drive the tigers away."

The group members began ridiculing the incident.

Fang Ye couldn't help shaking his head either!

This wasn't the first time that such an incident of tourists privately getting out of their cars in the ferocious beast zone of a zoo had occurred!

Of course, the tourists were out of their minds, but the zoo was also very responsible.

When designing an exhibit, the first consideration should be safety issues, like whether the animals could escape.

If self-driving is allowed, the ferocious beast zone and the driving area could be separated by a trench, ensuring that the animals absolutely cannot contact people or cars, thus keeping visitors safe. Otherwise, even if people didn't get out of their cars, the beasts could still reach for the windows and it would be very dangerous.

If vehicles can contact the ferocious beasts, then it shouldn't be a self-drive; it would have to be a zoo-operated tour vehicle with sturdy protective nets, lockable doors upon entering, and no exiting the vehicle unless at a rest stop, even if one has to hold it until then.

The zoo cannot expect all the visitors they receive to be rule-abiding and well-mannered. There will always be people looking for trouble or children who don't understand the dangers, hence it's up to the zoo to be responsible and minimize safety risks.

Take Linhai Zoo's protective trenches, for example, with an outer fence, several meters of isolation shrubbery, another concealed fence inside, followed by an electric fence, then the trench and a cushioning zone of broken stones, combining safety with aesthetics.

Lost in his thoughts, his phone rang; the city had called to notify him of a safety meeting he needed to attend the next day.
