I Hijacked the Timeline (IHT)

Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Disintegration and Evolution

The sudden reappearance of Three-Tails caught Feng Qi completely off guard.

He had believed that after absorbing Three-Tails as a miracle item, it had disappeared forever. However, contrary to his assumptions, it had somehow reformed.

Immersing his consciousness into the mental sea, Feng Qi saw the purple token still suspended above the golden-red orb, untouched and unchanged.

This realization clarified one thing for him: the Three-Tails before him was not a manifestation of the miracle item but more likely its vessel.

Essentially, the token was the core entity, while Three-Tails was a body created to carry the consciousness within the miracle token.

Still, he harbored doubts. The abilities displayed by Three-Tails—mental countermeasures, agility, and more—seemed unrelated to the evolutionary power of the miracle item.

[If my guess is correct, Three-Tails is merely an energy body created by the token's consciousness. The abilities you mentioned are things it learned as it grew, separate from the token's core properties.]

Hearing this explanation, Feng Qi nodded in understanding.

At that moment, Lin Ran suddenly intervened.

The tendrils of mist darted forward, wrapping tightly around Three-Tails' hind legs and suspending it upside-down in mid-air.

This time, Three-Tails did not struggle. Instead, it stared pitifully at Feng Qi.

"Ah Ran, let it go. It won't run away," Feng Qi said.

Although skeptical, Lin Ran eventually released Three-Tails.

Once on the ground, Three-Tails haughtily flicked its tails and sauntered over to Feng Qi's side, nuzzling his leg affectionately.

[This little creature really knows when to switch tactics. Now that it sees the situation clearly, it's playing nice. Don't be fooled by its act.]

Scooping up Three-Tails, Feng Qi gently rubbed its head.

"Chirp!"

Three-Tails emitted a crisp, melodious cry.

Now aware that Three-Tails was a creation of the Miracle: Evolution, Feng Qi still had no idea how to wield this miraculous token effectively.

Immersing his consciousness back into the mental sea, he approached the golden-red orb and touched the purple token again.

This time, something entirely different occurred.

The Three-Tails in his arms transformed into streams of purple energy, surging into his body and reappearing beside the token in his mental sea. There, it chirped at him energetically.

Seeing Three-Tails within his mental sea, Feng Qi finally grasped how to use the miracle item.

The Miracle: Evolution panel stated that devouring innate abilities would generate "Talent Points." What remained unclear was how the token could absorb these abilities.

But now, with Three-Tails present, he began to form a hypothesis.

Motioning to Three-Tails, Feng Qi carried it over to one of the orbs representing his innate abilities orbiting the golden-red core.

After some thought, he extended his hand toward the orb he deemed least valuable—[Boiling], a talent ability he rarely relied on.

The light red orb detached from its orbit and floated into his grasp.

Feng Qi then brought the orb to Three-Tails' mouth.

Understanding his intent, Three-Tails shook its head vehemently, its eyes brimming with pitiful defiance.

"Eat it, or I'll erase your consciousness," Feng Qi warned.

Having dealt with Three-Tails in previous timelines, Feng Qi knew better than to be deceived by its feigned innocence. The true Three-Tails was arrogant and defiant, always exuding an air of invincibility. Its current demeanor was nothing but a facade.

Under his stern gaze, Three-Tails reluctantly opened its mouth and swallowed the light red [Boiling] orb.

The moment it did, its body began to glow, pulsating with alternating brightness.

After a brief pause, Three-Tails opened its mouth and spat out twelve small golden orbs, which floated gently into Feng Qi's palm.

Calling forth his attribute panel, Feng Qi confirmed his suspicions. The [Boiling] talent was no longer listed among his innate abilities.

The twelve golden orbs in his hand matched the description of "Talent Points" in the Miracle: Evolution introduction.

Curious about their application, Feng Qi decided to experiment.

Approaching the rotating spheres of talent abilities, he contemplated which one to enhance.

Among his current abilities, the ones he cherished most were [Blood Source], [Malice], and [Purple Soul].

[Blood Source] was obtained after slaying the Goat-Headed Demon and absorbing its sacrificial life force.

[Malice] was acquired by killing the Crimson-Eyed creature, granting him telekinetic power.

[Purple Soul] was derived from defeating the Stone Mountain entity, offering partial magic immunity.

Each of these abilities had proven invaluable, but if he had to choose a favorite, it was undoubtedly [Blood Source].

This talent allowed him to challenge opponents far beyond his level, enabling him to defeat numerous powerful domain creatures.

Resolute, he selected a golden orb and pushed it toward the [Blood Source] sphere.

The moment the orb touched the crimson sphere, it merged seamlessly. The sphere's surface emitted golden mist for about ten seconds before settling.

His attribute panel automatically updated.

[Blood Source (Non-Upgradable Talent Ability)]:

Description: Condenses a Blood Core within the heart, greatly enhancing cardiac efficiency. This ability can be activated to drain the Blood Core's energy instantaneously, amplifying combat strength dramatically. The Blood Core's strength scales with the user's vitality. In combat form, the Blood Core manifests as blood-red patterns etched onto the skeletal structure.

Origin Evolution: 2.8%

The panel now included an [Origin Evolution] percentage for [Blood Source].

Without hesitation, Feng Qi fed the remaining eleven golden orbs into [Blood Source].

Each orb increased the [Origin Evolution] by an additional 2.8%. By the time all twelve orbs were absorbed, the evolution percentage had reached 33.6%, leaving it still far from complete transformation.

In Feng Qi's eyes, abilities deemed mediocre were not limited to "Boil."

Standing before the circular trajectory, he picked up the [Sluggishness], [Recoil], and [Ambush] talent spheres before gesturing for Three-Tails to approach.

Reluctantly, the creature floated closer, its demeanor one of defiance.

Feng Qi first fed the [Sluggishness] talent to Three-Tails.

This time, Three-Tails spat out only three small golden beads, indicating the ability's rank was even lower than [Boil].

Feng Qi wasn't surprised by the result.

He found [Boil] lackluster because its effects, while similar to [Blood Source], were vastly inferior in potency. By comparison, [Boil] was entirely dispensable.

Next, he offered the [Recoil] talent. Three-Tails responded by producing six golden beads.

Finally, [Ambush] was consumed and converted into four golden beads.

After dismantling three abilities, he ended up with only thirteen golden beads, leaving him astonished.

He hadn't expected [Boil] to yield as many talent points as three separate abilities combined.

Without hesitation, he infused the thirteen golden beads into [Blood Source], bringing its source evolution rate to 70%.

However, he still required eleven more golden beads to complete its evolution.

Feng Qi scanned the remaining talent spheres, the corresponding attributes flashing through his mind.

After some deliberation, he selected the [Bone Veins] sphere.

This ability had once been a favorite of his, allowing him to manipulate and reshape his bones into weapons.

But ever since his bloodline advanced, granting him the ability to switch between [Human Form] and [Combat Form], [Bone Veins] had fallen out of use.

Compared to molding weapons from his bones, direct combat with raw power seemed far simpler and more effective.

He handed the white [Bone Veins] talent sphere to Three-Tails.

Three-Tails tilted its head in reluctance, much like a child unwillingly receiving an injection.

After consuming the [Bone Veins] talent, Three-Tails began to glow.

Moments later, the creature spat out twenty-three golden beads in quick succession.

Gathering the beads, Feng Qi separated eleven and merged them into the [Blood Source] talent sphere.

This brought [Blood Source] to 100.8% evolution completion.

The sphere began to tremble, and a faint green pattern emerged on its surface.

Opening the attribute panel, he noted no significant changes to [Blood Source] beyond an added tier marker.

The ability was now listed as [Blood Source (Tier 5 Talent)], and its "non-upgradable" status had been removed.

Satisfied, Feng Qi exited his spiritual sea and opened his eyes.

He found Lin Ran standing nearby, observing him with a mix of curiosity and intrigue.

Without hesitation, Feng Qi activated [Blood Source].

However, his body failed to transform, leaving him momentarily confused.

Then he recalled that he had already used the ability earlier to prevent Three-Tails from escaping. His blood energy was entirely depleted.

"Ah Ran, could you catch a domain creature for me?" Feng Qi asked without delay.

"Sure."

Lin Ran nodded and transformed into a misty figure, disappearing into the distance.

About ten minutes later, Lin Ran returned, dragging a massive, bull-like domain creature through the air.

With a thunderous crash, the bull-like creature slammed into the ground, kicking up dust as it let out a deep, mournful groan.

Feng Qi wasted no time. Taking two steps forward, he delivered a series of heavy punches.

Under the relentless barrage, the creature quickly stopped moving, its body dissipating into a cloud of blood mist that surged into Feng Qi's body.

Checking his attribute panel, he saw that his [Bloodline Evolution Points] had reached 1805/10000.

Additionally, a new talent ability had been unlocked.

[Digestion (Upgradeable Talent)]

Ability Description: Slightly enhances digestive and absorption capabilities, converting food into essential energy more efficiently. Accelerates stamina recovery and injury healing.

To Feng Qi, this ability was nearly useless.

His natural regenerative abilities were already robust, and even when injured after battle, he rarely needed to rely on eating to recover. Resting sufficed.

After killing the domain creature, the blood-red runes etched across his body grew vivid once more.

Activating [Blood Source] again, he was enveloped by a familiar surge of power.

The blood-red runes on his body emitted a dense mist, wrapping around him and rapidly forming flesh.

Under the rush of blood mist, his body began to expand.

Muscles grew rapidly, and surging energy coursed through him.

In mere moments, Feng Qi transformed into a nearly four-meter-tall blood giant.

A glowing purple rune appeared on his chest—an immunity rune inscribed by the [Purple Soul] ability.

As Feng Qi wondered what new changes the evolution had brought to [Blood Source], a dark green flame suddenly ignited across his body.

Simultaneously, the torrent of blood energy within him began to roar like crashing waves.

This green flame was no stranger to him.

When he killed Stone Mountain and acquired the [Purple Soul] ability, the same flames had appeared during the sacrificial offering by the Goat-Headed Demons.

Back then, his [Blood Source] form had undergone a massive enhancement.

That version of the form had been far more monstrous than now, with an illusory deity floating behind him, jet-black horns sprouting from his forehead, and the blood-red runes on his body turning a dark crimson. His height had also surged to five meters.

It was this enhanced [Blood Source] form that enabled him to kill Stone Mountain and acquire the [Purple Soul] talent.

He turned his gaze to the other ability spheres orbiting the golden-red bloodline core. These clearly represented the paths for further evolution of the Blood Source ability.

At that moment, surging blood energy roared within his body, resonating with his every movement. He extended his hand forward, channeling the blood energy. Instantly, the fiery energy surrounding him gathered at his palm, coalescing into a green fireball that shot outwards.

Boom!

A deafening explosion reverberated as the fireball blasted through a distant building, creating a gaping hole in its structure. Green embers scattered, igniting the surrounding area. The flames quickly spread, enveloping the building in a blazing inferno of green fire.

The fire's momentum showed no signs of slowing, steadily expanding.

"Lin Ran, give me a hand and test this for me," Feng Qi said, turning to Lin Ran.

"No problem!" Lin Ran eagerly stepped forward.

Seeing this, Feng Qi clenched his fist and directed a punch at Lin Ran. The green flames around his body were instantly drawn to his fist, concentrating their power.

As the punch collided with Lin Ran's Mist Shield, the green fire and the grey mist clashed violently, emitting a sizzling sound. The two forces eroded each other for a while before finally dissipating.

Withdrawing his mist, Lin Ran smiled and remarked, "Qi-ge, this green fire not only burns but also carries a corrosive property similar to my mist. It's a solid ability."

Hearing this, a smile spread across Feng Qi's face. The advancement of his Blood Source ability had clearly enhanced his combat strength significantly.

He began to wonder—if Blood Source continued to evolve, what other surprises might it bring?

"One moment," he said, gesturing to Lin Ran before immersing his consciousness into his spiritual sea.

Inside, the Three-Tails was sprawled atop the golden-red bloodline core, lazily grooming its tail. Upon sensing Feng Qi's arrival, its expression instantly turned disdainful. Though fleeting, Feng Qi caught the look.

Ignoring its antics, he approached the ability spheres and picked up the newly acquired Digestion sphere. Gesturing to the Three-Tails, he called it over.

Reluctantly, the Three-Tails floated toward him, its demeanor resembling a child forced to swallow unpleasant medicine. Opening its mouth, it grudgingly consumed the Digestion sphere.

Moments later, it spat out three small golden spheres.

Adding these to the twelve spheres he already had, Feng Qi now held fifteen Talent Beads in his hand.

Selecting one, he pushed it toward the Blood Source sphere. As the Blood Source sphere absorbed the bead, Feng Qi summoned his status panel to assess the changes.

Blood Source (Tier 5 Talent):

Ability Description: …

Origin Evolution Progress: 2.5%

Just as he expected, the evolution rate decreased after the previous advancement. With the absorption of this Talent Bead, the progress rate dropped from 2.8% to 1.5%, leaving him needing 66 more beads to achieve the next level.

Shifting his focus to the other ability spheres, Feng Qi contemplated his next move.

[Have the Three-Tails swallow your grievances and be done with it!]

"Not happening!" Feng Qi retorted, rolling his eyes.

Most of his abilities were still useful, so he decided to put the Blood Source upgrade on hold. Carefully considering his options, he eventually chose to integrate one of the remaining fourteen beads into the Purple Soul sphere.

After completing the fusion, he summoned the status panel again.

Purple Soul (Non-upgradable Talent Ability):

Effect: Grants enhancement through the Purple Soul Rune, reducing energy damage, weakening effects of mental control, mitigating restrictive techniques, and enabling energy-freezing effects (specific effects scale with blood energy strength).

Core Evolution Progress: 0.6%

To his astonishment, the absorption of one Talent Bead only advanced the Purple Soul evolution by 0.6%. Feng Qi couldn't help but gape at the disparity.

From this, it was evident that the Purple Soul talent's grade far exceeded that of Blood Source. Even after one evolution, Blood Source still gained 1.5% progress per bead, whereas Purple Soul started at a mere 0.6%.

[Makes sense. Purple Soul grants immunity-like abilities. If fully evolved, you might even achieve total energy immunity, much like Little Black. Abilities this rare are bound to demand a greater investment in resources for progression.]

Feng Qi nodded thoughtfully at the explanation. As the Narrator mentioned, Purple Soul clearly had greater growth potential.

[By the way, I think your dream of collecting 1,000 prefix titles is becoming increasingly unrealistic. Most of your prefixes are destined to be disassembled into resources for upgrading your abilities.]

"That's not a bad thing. Many abilities are just dead weight anyway. Repurposing them into something useful is efficient," Feng Qi replied.
