I May Be a Virtual Youtuber, but I Still Go to Work

chapter 228

In truth, Mugeon had been holding back from the start to keep the battle balanced.
DingSam and Kamik, the core of the Shooting Club, hadn’t shown themselves yet.

Besides, the police were fully geared up with bulletproof vests, while only some members of the Shooting Club were armed, making it a slightly unfair fight. So Mugeon deliberately waited until DingSam and Kamik appeared—and then he jumped into the battle too.
The shootout dragged on for quite a while.
Fueled by the rage he had built up thanks to Darai, Mugeon showed off unbelievable physical prowess and personally subdued the boss and sub-boss.

Afterward, doctors and nurses were dispatched to revive the incapacitated.
Mugeon forced the two, now handcuffed, to kneel before him and said:
"Trying to blow up the police station by colluding with Darai… This is absolutely unforgivable."

Honestly, DingSam and Kamik were dumbfounded.
Collude with Darai? They’d been tricked by her, not collaborating.
An indignant DingSam said,

"Commissioner, I think there’s been a misunderstanding? We run a clean business. Colluding with Darai? That’s outrageous."
"Yeah, yeah. That’ll all come to light once we open your weapons warehouse. Get up and show us the way."
DingSam’s scalp tingled.

Having organized plenty of tournaments himself, he wasn’t stupid—he quickly realized the situation.
Did they have the reporter post on SNS on purpose…?
The police had baited Darai into showing up here — then used it as an excuse to crush the Shooting Club, the strongest fighting force on the server.

It was a complete strategic defeat.
Still, grinding his teeth, DingSam led Mugeon to the weapons warehouse.
But when they opened it—

"…It’s gone?"
"It’s gone?"
— ?
— ??
— Huh??
Not a single explosive was left.

Mugeon and the East Division Chief exchanged baffled glances.
Seeing the empty warehouse, DingSam immediately threw himself onto the ground.
"Aigoo! Aigoo! The police are arresting innocent citizens! Aigoo! Abuse of power, aigoo!!!"

— LOLLLLLLLLL
— The speed at which he flopped over tho lolol
— dying lmaooo
— Only a seasoned street veteran could react that fast lol
Following DingSam’s lead, Kamik and the rest of the gang members all dramatically collapsed onto the floor, wailing.
"Aigoo!!"
"My arm, my leg!!"
"My head feels like it’s splitting open, aaaaaah!!"

The police officers who had followed Mugeon and the Division Chief were so embarrassed they started slowly backing away.
Technically, they could have gone after the weapons they'd trafficked, since the other guns were still there.
But their excuse for barging in had been "they're supplying explosives to Darai," and if they pushed any harder without evidence, it would escalate into a UFC situation.
There were six mafia groups on the server—and the police had stormed in targeting just one.

Mugeon had no choice but to say:
"…Ahem. Apologies. We received a tip, and in the video, it looked like this place was stacked with explosives."
"Aigoo, and you just barged in without any evidence? The public authority of Thunder Special City can bring down even the sun, aigoo."

"Hey, pipe down. You’re not exactly clean here—you trafficked weapons."
"Wasn’t the whole problem when you barged in about the explosives and Darai? Aigooooo!!"
— LOLLLLLLL
— DingSam refuses to lose lmao
— As expected from Sansam-hyung lol
— His voice is stupidly loud lmaoo
— Older than Mugeon = even harder to beat in arguments lol

In the end, after a bit more back and forth, Mugeon ordered his men to uncuff the Shooting Club members.
Then, after sending all his officers away, Mugeon said privately to DingSam:
"Send one representative to jail. Weapons trafficking still has to be dealt with. It would be perfect if you, Sansam, the boss, volunteered."

"Aigoo, well, fine. If that’s the issue, I’ll go. But didn’t you bust in here about bombs and Darai...?"
"That’s why we’ll overlook the weapons trafficking. Let’s just close it with one person serving time."
The explosives had mysteriously vanished, so they dodged the worst-case scenario.

If they lost the trafficked weapons too, it would have been catastrophic.
Luckily, Mugeon didn’t want to escalate things into a UFC either, so he was wrapping it up flexibly.
DingSam laughed heartily and shook Mugeon’s hand.

"Kya! Commissioner, you’ve got a good face and a good attitude. This is exactly why I do business in Thunder Special City. Thank you kindly. By the way… do you need a little spending money?"
"I don’t take bribes.
Want me to add bribery charges to your record?"
"Oof, so strict. With a commissioner so righteous, Thunder Special City’s in good hands. So… when are you finally going to catch Darai?"

"You’re doing that on purpose, aren’t you? Want me to add charges?"
"No no, I’m just worried about the city’s safety, really~"
— LMAOOOO
— The sheer veteran energy lolol
— He’s so damn good at subtle trolling omg
— I can’t breathe lmaooo

The police finally withdrew.
The Shooting Club, having narrowly dodged disaster, gathered back in their conference room to discuss what happened.
"Darai’s fled. We don’t know where she went."

"But the bombs—what happened to them? Who hid them?"
"No one hid them. They’re really gone."
"All gone? You checked everything?"

"We searched down to the last trunk of every car. You saw the Commissioner check too."
"……No way."
Only one face came to mind.

Darai.
Even from the start, her lurking around the front gate had seemed suspicious.
If she had business, she could’ve just come in.

But instead, she loitered there long enough to draw all their attention.
Thinking it over, there was only one conclusion.
"We got played. Played hard. I thought she was someone we could talk to…"

"Played? What do you mean?"
Putting the pieces together, DingSam said in a furious voice:
"Darai baited all of us, stole the bombs, then called the cops to spark a fight between us and them. While we were busy tearing each other apart, she made her getaway."

BAM.
DingSam slammed the table and said:
"I’m gonna tell the bosses of the other Eastside organizations. From now on, anyone who deals with Darai is our enemy. And tell all the businesses we’ve partnered with too."

"What should we say exactly?"
In short—
Darai and Red Hood had added another enemy to their list.

First the police. Now the strongest mafia group on the server: the Shooting Club.
"Tell them: the moment you see Darai, report it immediately. We’re gonna catch that little bastard and feed her prison rice."
*

Meanwhile, at the same time—
While heading toward the temporary hideout, the house of taxi driver Ma Daeri, Darai was basking in the afterglow of what had just happened, replaying it proudly in her mind.
“Ha… even thinking about it now, I was kinda… awesome. How did I come up with those lines on the spot like that? Seriously, I am a genius.”

— She's broken...
— Hanging around Tia too much made her weird lol
— Wasn't she always weird tho? LOL
— frfr
— Darai’s always been weird!
— lmao
Before long, Magia rudely cut into her little moment of self-admiration.
“Pfft, what are you even talking about? If we hadn’t picked you up on the bike, you’d still be trapped inside the hideout.”

“Hey! Can you not drop facts like that? Still, right? I stalled for time pretty well! I did good this time, didn’t I?”
“You did okay… but, Boss, did you have an escape plan?”
“No.”

“Ugh, that pathetic side of you just never goes away. You’re hopeless, Boss.”
Darai quickly tried to make excuses.
“…Well, you could say… I trusted you two. We’re Red Hood, aren’t we? Strong comrades who trust and rely on each other.”

Magia immediately slapped her back down with facts.
“You’ve got some nerve. Didn’t you say you'd snitch on us the moment you got caught by the cops?”
“That was, uh, part of the deal, you know?”

“There’s no such thing as trust or camaraderie once you start bargaining like that, Boss. Anyone with half a brain could figure that out. Heehee.”
“Uuughh…”
— Trying to beat Magia in a logic fight? Come back after a hundred years, fool!
— fr lmaooo
— Every time she opens her mouth she just loses more ground
— She’s inventing new ways to lose lmao

After a short sigh, Darai asked:
“So, what’s our next move?”
“Wow, Boss, you’re just dumping everything on me now?”

“What are you talking about? You’re the genius brain of Red Hood, Tia.”
“No amount of flattery’s gonna save you.”
“Oh beautiful, devilish genius girl Tia, who dances down from the shadows to terrify the stupid and ignorant masses of Thunder Special City, please guide us.”

A request — but one clearly designed to shake Magia’s mental state by recycling her own cringe lines.
— Wow
— That was brutal lol
— That hurts lmao
But unlike the viewers who cringed hard—

Magia answered without even flinching.
“Hmph, if you trust the great Tia-sama that much, then I guess I have no choice but to act!”
— LOOOOOL
— She's too strong
— She tanked it?? lmaooo
— omg lol

Darai just stared at Magia blankly for a moment.
She’d thought that would land a mental critical hit — but Magia didn’t even react and just shot back.
Still dazed, Darai asked:

“Uh, right… anyway, what are we gonna do now? I mean, strictly speaking, we have the server maintenance tomorrow for personal stuff, so after that…”
“What do you mean, what?”
Magia already had a goal in mind.

She was still role-playing switching between taxi driver Ma Daeri and his little sister Tia — passing information Ma Daeri “collected” over to Tia in character.
Thanks to Ma Daeri’s wide network, the moment Fire Fox posted about the Shooting Club’s bomb stash, rumors had started spreading among other mafia groups too.
“Taehopa, Yuhakhwa, Chogyeonpa. Those mafia groups have also been raking it in through weapons trafficking. The businesses partnered with them are buying weapons to protect themselves.”

“So… you’re saying we should rob the other mafias too and snatch their explosives?”
“No. That was a one-time deal. We can’t keep robbing hideouts. Our method’s already been exposed, heehee.”
“But we didn’t get caught on camera, right? Shouldn’t it be fine?”

“The Shooting Club’s boss is a smart guy. He let it happen this time, but next time? He’ll be ready. Same goes for the Eastside mafia allied with them.”
“Hm… Then what are we gonna do?”
Their new hideout, Ma Daeri’s house, was located in the central district — with a perfect view of both East and West Thunder Special City. The hospital and police station were close by too.

Standing in front of the wide window, Magia pointed toward the central plaza.
“The East and West mafia groups are currently fighting for turf. The more territory they control, the more money they make. And both sides have their eyes set right here: Central District. Home to most corporate HQs and citizen housing.”
“Right?”

“But because the Eastside’s military strength is stronger, most businesses partnered with them, and the Eastside took more territory. The Westside’s relatively broke compared to the East.”
“So, basically, instead of the Eastside, who are now totally our enemies, we buy weapons and explosives from the Westside mafia?”
“Correct! Boss, you’re finally starting to think."

“Hmph, this much is nothing. But what if the Westside doesn’t trust us? Wouldn’t that be a complete bust?”
Magia flashed a sharp grin.
“That’s why we need to create a crisis. One that forces them to grab our hand.”

“A crisis? What kind?”
Magia walked lightly across the window and pointed to the Eastside area.
“Like… show them a future where they lose all their partnered businesses and get completely isolated.”

“Huh? But the businesses are run by citizens, and the citizens all want us caught. How are we gonna pull that off? Are we gonna threaten them with bombs or something?”
“I do like bombs, but I’m not some all-purpose bomb psycho, you know? And if we tried that, it would only make people hate us more. Boss, you only ever see half the picture.”
Stopping in front of the glass, Magia pointed down to a delivery truck.

It had ‘Olympus’ written on the side and back.
It was an Olympus Food delivery truck, currently partnered with the Westside mafia for their restaurant operations.
Meaning — Magia’s next target would be one of the Westside mafia’s businesses.

“Think about it. From a business’s perspective, it makes way more sense to partner with the powerful Eastside mafia for security, right?”
“Yeah.”
“So why would any business still stick with the West?”

“Because they have trust?”
“Exactly.”
The Westside mafia had way fewer partnerships compared to the East. Even losing a few would hurt them badly.

Especially if it was Olympus Food— the supplier of food and drinks for almost the entire Thunder Special City.
If Olympus turned against them, the Westside mafia would feel the pressure immediately.
And in that situation — they’d be much more likely to accept Red Hood’s offer.

“So we need to crack that trust.”
Darai snapped her ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) fingers and immediately responded:
“So that the Westside mafia’ll have no choice but to sell us weapons.”

Magia grinned from ear to ear.
“Bingo.”
