I Reincarnated As Yamauchi in COTE

The whole class started murmuring among themselves, due to this unexpected announcement.

Though I can understand her reasoning, considering what happened back during the lunch.

As no one voiced any complaint it was decided in an instant.

This is an auction.

Private points would be the key to this event, normally.

But, I can't imagine Horikita making the decision to attend this auction, because according to my analysis, she is not the type to trade with private points or something of the sort.

She has regained her sanity, and the usual Horikita i know looks at the bigger picture for a long lasting effect.

Moreover, in terms of amount of private points, class A has way bigger lead than us.

It's true that we have closed the gap of class points somewhat, but it's not enough of a leap howsoever.

Ryuen also has that deal of him with Katsuragi where every student of class A pays him monthly, so he also might be having a huge sum of money.

On top of that, Ichinose's class has made her the cashier of their class depositing a certain amount of their monthly allowance on her account, which also means she must have saved up a large amount of private points.

At last our class is not that united, and just until recently we were basically in class D.

Well, the point is, we might be the class having the least amount of funds to support ourselves in this auction.

However, as I said before, this is an "auction".

If the other classes wanted, they can bid for all of the toppers not even leaving a single student for us.

Also, the purpose of doing something like this seems really uncertain.

I mean, who the hell in first year has the guts to conduct such an outrageous thing.

Either they are simply balsy, or I am just missing something.

Moreover, that previous commotion of someone named Hosen of the first year, was really bold of him.

Judging from his demeanor, he must be the leader of class D.

Well, leading a class through fear is not exactly ineffective or wrong in a school like this.

The prime example would be Ryuen.

Maybe that's the reason why, Horikita chose three boys to accompany her along with Hirata and Kushida.

But, for what reason did Horikita agree to attend is the thing I don't understand.

I mean, all the odds are against us.

Moreover, unlike the other 3 classes we don't have much connection with the first year students.

On the other hand, Ichinose started approaching them from the very first day, and Sakayanagi and Ryuen has some deep information network, unlike us.

So, it's really weird for something like this to be accepted by Horikita.

All I can guess is, she is either trying to observe the situation without taking part in it, or she is trying to approach some influential first years who might come in handy in our times of use.

With these kinds of thoughts I walked along with the group of students going to the special building.

Horikita and Hirata were discussing something, which I wasn't really interested in.

Kushida joined them in the conversation, while I was stuck with the other two idiots.

Sudo and Ike.

My perception of them was actually neutral at first.

As I had read the light novel of COTE, till volume 10 of year 1, I knew how both of them stood up for Yamauchi when Horikita exposed his schemes.

Especially Sudo was really persistent in persuading Horikita not to expel Yamauchi.

Thats what you would call a true friend.

The concept of a friend has become really superficial now a days.

When I was working in that black company, there were many colleagues I could technically call friends, but no one stood up for me, when I was the only one thrashed by that bitch of a senior.

They just turned a blind eye.

Everything there seemed only for formality.

Even back during my university or high school time, there was not a single one I could call a friend.

Actually...

I didn't really need someone to listen to my worries.

Nor did I ever want them to support or console me.

All I wanted was someone to hang out with on my days off.

We would have a drink, play baseball or something on the weekends, and go on trips on vacations, without worrying about formalities or anything of the sort.

That was the kind of friend I ever wanted.

That's why when I first met Sudo and Ike, I was really comfortable with them, because I know about their characters really well.

Well, things turned slightly different from what I had imagined though.

For some reason, they were not on Yamauchi's side anymore, even when I had confessed what he had done before the whole class during the In Class voting special exam.

Logically thinking it is possible in the real world, but I never thought something like this would happen with the characters whom I knew very well.

Or I believed I knew them only.

There might have been some deviation due to my actions or something.

However, still, I can't fathom what made them turn their backs on me.

Now that we three are walking in silence, this is really awkward.

But, I guess I don't mind, since we have almost reached the special building.

Everyone was ready to face the challenge that lay ahead in front of us, to pass this particular special exam.

Horikita seemed determined too, which was a good thing.

But, when we opened the door to the venue mentioned, the biggest surprise of the day was waiting for us.

Usually, if there is some event like this, from class A, at least Hashimoto would be present to mediate, if Sakayanagi was absent.

Similarly, from Ryuen's class, at least Ishizaki Or Ibuki would be present, if Ryuen was absent.

And, Ichinose wouldn't definitely miss an event of interaction.

Or so we thought.

However, to our surprise, the ones standing before us were a few first year students, and the number of second year students excluding us, was zero.
