Chapter 7: The City of Flames and the Miracle of Blood
[Second team pov]
The moment they re-entered the city, chaos unfolded before them. Civilians screamed as Reunion members rampaged through the streets, setting fire to buildings and cutting down anyone in their way.
Without hesitation, Akako raised his rifle and fired. A bullet tore through one Reunion member's head, while another barely had time to react before Akako's sword flashed, beheading him in a single stroke.
Rimuru extended his hand, conjuring dark flames that ignited an entire squad of enemies. The unnatural fire clung to their bodies, consuming them with agonizing screams.
John found high ground, positioning himself atop a ruined clock tower. From there, he sniped enemy crossbowmen and casters, each precise shot eliminating a threat before they could retaliate.
On the ground, Goosein charged forward like an unstoppable beast, his massive golden-spiked fist crushing through enemy lines. One Reunion soldier tried to stab him, but Goosein grabbed the attacker's entire torso and slammed him into the ground, leaving behind only a crater and blood.
Despite their efforts, the tide of enemies continued to surge toward them, seemingly endless. Above, the ominous black storm clouds of the catastrophe rumbled, signaling that the disaster was about to intensify.
[Akako]: RIMURU! CAN YOU GO ALL OUT THIS TIME?! MAKE THIS DARK CLOUD DISAPPEAR FROM THIS WORLD!
Rimuru's lips curled into a smirk. With a wave of his hand, he nullified his race card, and his two black wings unfurled. He shot into the sky, piercing through the blackened heavens.
Then, he activated [Gluttony King Beelzebuth].
A vortex of consuming darkness spread across the sky, swallowing the entire catastrophe as if reality itself had been devoured. The swirling storm, the destruction, the impending doom—it all vanished in an instant.
Silence.
The battlefield stood frozen. Everyone—Reunion, Rhodes Island, and even the civilians—stared in absolute shock.
A catastrophe, an event capable of leveling cities, was erased in mere seconds. And the one responsible for it descended like a fallen god.
When Rimuru landed, his silver hair had turned black, the tips of his horns flickered with black flames, and most notably, he now had a long, slender tail, its tip wreathed in dark fire.
[Akako]: I told you to make the dark cloud disappear, but damn… you didn't have to do it so fast. And—wait—
Akako's eyes widened as he pointed at Rimuru's new feature.
[Akako]: You have a tail now?!
[Rimuru]: A… tail?
He blinked, twisting his body to glance at his back. The moment he saw his own tail, he instinctively tried to grab it, but it kept slipping away, making him chase it in a circle.
The sight was… unbearably cute.
[Akako]: Rimuru, can you stop?! You're going to make people die from cuteness—LOOK AT MY NOSE!"
Blood trickled from his nostrils as he clutched his face.
[John]: "Rimuru, do you want to marry my son once he grows up? I'll gladly arrange it."
[Reunion Member 1]: HELL NO! SHE'LL MARRY ME!
[Reunion Member 2]: Don't make me laugh! You're a girl! How can you marry her?
[Reunion Member 3]: She's mine! GIVE UP!
[Reunion Members]: (Chaotic voices arguing over Rimuru's cuteness.)
Akako sighed, rubbing his temples before smirking darkly.
[Akako]: **Look what you've done now. They're all united… because they think you're a cute 'girl', Alright, tell them the truth—**but do it in the most evil way possible.
Rimuru's expression darkened, his eyes glowing ominously as he grinned like a true demon.
[Rimuru]: I'M A GUY.
[[[[The following carnage has been censored for the reader's mental health.]]]]
With Reunion now thoroughly emotionally and physically broken, the Second Team met no further resistance as they advanced toward the city's plaza.
Upon arriving, they regrouped with the First Team, where Rimuru effortlessly used his abilities to capture all the Reunion leaders. However, they had to wait for Arakan to finish his duel.
After Arakan's victory, they escorted Rhodes Island's Doctor and the survivors out of the city. The moment they exited, the sheer number of people saved left everyone in awe.
Yet, not all was well.
Grey collapsed from exhaustion and they had to carry her out of a hospital bed they found in an abandoned hospital that had some people and doctors hiding in.
[Grey's POV]
I opened my eyes and saw a random guy staring at me.
[Random Guy]: Hey, you're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border—
[Grey]: STOP! YOU'RE A DEAD MEME, STAY IN YOUR GRAVE!
Darkness took me again.
When I woke again, I was in a bed. My body ached, but worse than that—I was choking someone.
Ahma.
I quickly let go, gasping as he coughed.
[Ahma]: *Will… it work every time? Are you okay now? Next time, try not to kill me—LOOK AT MY NECK!
Before I could respond, Ahma's **eyes rolled back, and he passed out—**his skin already turning slightly purple.
My heart sank. Did my toxins poison him?
The pain in my body worsened.
I had to act fast.
[Third-Person POV]
Grey activated [Super-Healing].
The system immediately flashed a warning.
[WARNING: Activating this ability will result in extreme pain, internal damage, skin loss, and blood expulsion. Proceed?]
She pressed [YES].
Instantly, she screamed in agony.
Blood poured from her skin, her eye turned crimson and bled, and patches of black liquid oozed from her body.
Her friends panicked.
[John]: HOLD HER DOWN! SHE'S GOING INTO SHOCK! DON'T LET HER BITE HER TONGUE!
[Arakan]: ON IT!
He shoved a cloth between her teeth.
[Rimuru]: POTION! GET ME A POTION—NOW!
Rhodes Island's medical team rushed in, horror in their eyes.
[Medic 1]: HER SKIN IS PEELING OFF!
[Medic 2]: SHE'S BLEEDING OUT!
Noah took action, summoning a blood bag filled with Grey's own blood.
As the toxic black blood was expelled from her body, her natural blood replaced it—forcing Oripathy out.
A miracle.
The medical team stood frozen at what they just witnessed.
[Medic 5]: Her body… expelled Oripathy?
A wave of hope filled the battlefield.
Had they just witnessed the cure to this world's greatest disease?
