Chapter 217: Carrying?
Turning around, she found Charlotte bent over with her hands on her knees. She was tired.
"Honestly... To... Ha... Get me to start running so suddenly! Is there a need to... Ha... Get there so quickly?" The noblewoman panted.
Lillian gave her a wry smile. They had only been sprinting for 5 minutes or so. Granted, they did manage to cross a kilometre, but still...
She glanced towards Norman, finding him to be more-or-less fine with the sprinting.
She turned her attention back to Charlotte and stated:
"We need to get there to quickly get ahead. We can't leisurely stroll..."
Charlotte waved her hand, "Yes, yes... I am aware, Ha... Just... Give me a few seconds to rest..."
"Did you not train before this?" Lillian tilted her head as she folded her arms. She then stiffened.
Before Charlotte could answer the question, she watched as the girl waved her hand dismissively, "Actually... Never mind. Don't answer that."
"E-excuse me...?"
Lillian knew what type of person she was.
This woman had only ever trained her mastery with her ability rather than putting much effort into bettering her physical stats.
Lillian couldn't help but sympathise with her a little, considering that was what her past self was like.
Walking over to her side and placing a hand on the woman's shoulder, she asked:
"How about I carry you there, then?"
"C-carry me? Do not belittle me, Vice Rep. I don't need to be—"
Lillian rolled her eyes and her back by the shoulder, causing the noblewoman to fall back.
She then swiftly placed her arms behind the woman's knee as well as her back, catching and putting her into a princess carry.
While there would have been a better way to carry her, this was the easiest way to pull her into one.
Charlotte, startled, thrashed about as her green-emerald eyes stared up at Lillian's face, "U-unhand me! I do not consent to this!"
"Bah! Calm it down!"
After saying that, she looked towards Norman, who was also surprised by her sudden actions.
However, due to the need to act "cool", he hid this. Pushing his glasses up using his middle finger, he stated in a cool tone:
"Let's hurry. These fiends plaguing this forest are waiting for us to claim victory."
"... Yeah... Let's just return back to running..."

As Lillian and her team ran through the forest, back at the Colosseum, Millis was annoyingly poking the Assassin's shoulder as she pointed towards the holographic screen.
"Oi, look. Hey, look. Ya girlfriend is carrying someone else in her arms~... Getting jealous yet?"
Marionette continued to wave her flag as she was bombarded by Millis's failing attempts to get a rise out of her.
She eventually sighed and turned to look at her.
"Why would I be jealous?"
"Eh~... Wouldn't you prefer if you were the only one Lillian would carry in her arms~?"
Marionette raised an eyebrow as she rubbed her chin, "I suppose... But there isn't necessarily anything for me to be jealous about."
She then shrugged, "If you're implying that Lillian, under impossible odds, were to be stolen from me by her, then just know she isn't."
Millis leaned back into her seat, blinking at the Assassin teasingly, "Oh~... Confident are we?"
Marionette turned her gaze away from the Heroine, focusing on the holographic screen. She then stated in a voice coated in arrogance:
"Of course... Lillian wouldn't settle for a downgrade. I know that for a fact." She crossed her arms, snorting.
Millis blinked at her with a deadpan expression before turning to Reph.
The Prince watched as the Heroine pointed at the Assassin. He then shrugged, "Not like she's wrong... Don't bring me into this, Millis."

"Are we... Here yet?" Charlotte asked, refusing to face the girl as she was being carried in her arms.
Lillian glanced down before looking around. A sense of familiarity sparked into her eyes as she slowed down.
Norman, running behind her, instantly noticed and slowed down as well. He then walked up beside her and asked:
"Have we reached our destined location?"
Lillian side-eyed the glass-wearing man and nodded. She then turned her face down to the noblewoman in her arms and asked:
"So... Do you still want to be let down or do you still want to be in my arms?" She tilted her head.
"Please let me down, Vice Rep."
After letting her down and helping her to stand, she looked around.
"Have you led us to some random location?" She asked, slowly turning her head. Her eyes glazed over the boulders in the distance.
"Besides those large boulders, this place doesn't look like it has many monsters."
Lillian nonchalantly shrugged before gesturing towards one of the boulders, "How about you go up to one and send a strong vibration into it?"
Charlotte raised an eyebrow, "And what would that do?"
Lillian did a shooing gesture with her hand, "Just go on and do it. It won't bite, I promise."
The noblewoman frowned at her but went off nonetheless. While she was going up to the boulder, Lillian leaned in towards Norman and whispered:
"You might also want to prepare yourself... The monsters might soon appear."
"..."
Norman narrowed his eyes at what she said. He glanced around before nodding, "I see... I sense them everywhere."
He, in fact, did not sense them.
After saying this, he caused metal pillars to rise from the grounds like small obelisks, waiting to attack and defend their controller.
Once Charlotte reached the boulder and placed a hand on it, she sent a destructive current of vibrations into the large stone.
Crack... Crack... Crack...
Jagged lines formed throughout the stone—eventually leading it to crumble and reveal a pair of dark orange antennas sticking out from the ground.
Charlotte froze as she stared at what seemed to be the head of a centipede—its beady eyes staring back at her and causing her to jolt back.
Soon after the sunlight bathed its antennas, it twitched once.
Twice.
Thrice.
The head then trembled and turned at a disgusting rate and angle before eventually letting out an ear-piercing screech.
