Chapter 286: Kuro's POV?
[Kuro's POV]
SWISH!
Kuro's eyes immediately shot awake as he watched his blade sink through Lillian's leather armour, followed by a streak of blood.
He slowly watched as Lillian's rear—
Thud...
—Landed on the ground.
He then watched as a pained expression spread across her face as she held a hand over her wound.
His eyes slowly drifted down to the tip of his blade, finding it to be dripping in her blood.
This...
Something like this shouldn't have happened, especially with how good his handling was with the sword.
How did he somehow let this happen? Why did his sword keep on moving after it had already succeeded in its goal?
His ears twitched as he heard the sound of the announcer calling out for the medics. And as soon as those words left his mouth, the appearance of a medical team appeared.
Most likely through teleportation.
And they came with a white stretcher.
After being pulled onto the stretcher, Lillian gave Kuro a thumbs-up before opening her mouth and saying with pained hisses in between:
"That was... A great match. Thank you for the feedbacks, by the way, dude..."
Kuro slowly raised his left hand in the direction of Lillian, letting it stay in the air for a moment before dropping it to his side.
"Not an issue... Apo-... S-sorry about this..." He said in a guilt-filled tone as he watched Lillian disappear along with the medical team through teleportation.
He then stood alone in the Colosseum, staring down at his blade before swiping it to the side and cleaning the blood off his sword.
Once done, he sheathed it and turned around, walking back to where he exited from as he listened to the announcer declare the winner.
As Kuro walked through the still-raised black fenced gate, he was instantly met with Jericko leaning against the side of the wall as well as Cicillian, who approached him with joy.
"Excellent work, my friend! I knew you could put that woman down without even a speck of sweat on you!"
The Blood Mage moved to his side, placing a hand on the Sword Genius's shoulder before muttering in a criticising soft tone:
"Although, you could've done it faster..." He waved his other hand, rolling his wrist with a look of boredom, "If you hadn't waste time making senseless chatter you could've finished her off eas—"
However, right as he was about to finish, Kuro shrugged off his hand.
"That's enough, Cicillian... And tone down your mockery. It's unbecoming and dishonourable, especially to someone who wasn't as lazy and disrespectful as you."
Kuro, eyeing Cicillian with a disgusted look, clicked his tongue and moved past him, leaving the white-haired man speechless. Seeing that he was getting farther away, he followed after him.
Jericko, watching as Kuro walked past him as well, followed and walked beside the young man.
The long-haired man, wrapping his arms behind his own back, then asked with a calm voice as his blue eyes flashed and blinked with curiosity:
"What happened, Kuro? For as long as I knew you, such an accident had never occured. Even when your opponents slipped or tripped over themselves."
Seeing that his friend was silent to his question, he couldn't help but mutter:
"Are you... Sick? If you are ill, we can have someone substitute you in the next ma—"
Kuro stopped, leaving Jericko stunned as he watched his friend unsheath his blade randomly in the middle of a hallway.
Cicillian, who was behind them, even began to back away in fear that his dear friend would do something insane. Fortunately, that wasn't going to happen.
"I am not ill." Kuro spoke with confidence.
He stared into his reflection through the flat side of his blade.
He looked into his reflection, finding a handsome man with a serious face and furrowed brows. He couldn't help but mutter in a quiet voice:
"... Is what I believe..."
He quickly sheathed his blade and walked forward. He knew something must've controlled him. Something... Of magical origins. He was that confident in his skills.
Whatever happened... Shouldn't have happened under normal means!
He then slowly narrowed his eyes, remembering right before Lillian disappeared, something entered her shadow—like a slime made out of pure shadow or darkness.
And... He couldn't help but feel as though it was staring at him with nonexistent eyes that were filled with subtle bloodlust.
His eyes narrowed deeper.
'Was... Was it my imagination?'
He raised his left hand to the left side of his face, clutching it.
'Perhaps... I truly am... Ill? Could it be something I ate here? Something I drank? The air or environment?'
After giving one last sigh, he turned back to his friends behind him and demanded:
"Help me find someone who works here. I wish to meet with the lady I fought today."
"Huuuh!?"
Cicillian's gaped at what Kuro said, shocked at what he had just heard. Jericko, while surprised, didn't get affected as greatly as the Blood Mage did.
He then asked:
"Sure. Do you perhaps want to go meet that woman?"
Kuro gave a small nod.
"I... I wish to speak out my apology more properly and sincerely than I did back in the battle arena."

[Back at the Colosseum]
Millis slowly reached her hand into the popcorn bucket she had brought with her and immediately noticed it was all gone.
She sighed and tossed it aside, littering as she worried for her best friend.
"Well, shit... Didn't think that would happen."
She turned to Veronica, finding her extremely worried as her hand was raised to cover her trembling lips.
"M-... My daughter will be alright... Right, Millis dear? I... I've heard your academy has an excellent medical team."
Millis, at her question, slowly thought back to the number of times she was put into the medical room, mainly due to her past scuffle with a certain Assassin.
"It's pretty good. Very clean. And extremely white, I tell ya. Trust meh... Lillian will be A-Oh-Kay."
Seeing that the mother beside her had calmed down, Millis looked past her, looking towards the empty seat that used to belong to a certain black-haired woman.
Who...
Didn't look too particularly happy with what happened.
Millis turned to face the front, sighing as she waited for when she was allowed to leave.
She wanted to see how Lillian was holding up...
