Chapter 320: Regular, The Mundane God?
"It was a fallen young god from the Celestial War..."
Lillian, having regained her air, slowly stood up from the pillar, using it to balance herself as the spinning inside her mind slowed down to a stop. (2)
She then moved the Parasitic Lines from her back to her arms, healing them of the damage they sustained from blocking the blow.
It was fortunate that she was able to create several layers of mana around her arms to act as cushions.
And this was something Thalrek knew as well.
However.
He wasn't going to comment about it. He didn't want Lillian, whom he saw as a rodent in his realm, to feel good from his high words.
However, he wasn't going to ignore Lillian's knowledge about the Regular Series.
"That's correct. The God of the concept of Regular was a mundane god, but an important one to keep things in order. Yet, in the Celestial War, this particular God was later killed by the Goddess of Order."
He paused for a brief moment before adding:
"And after his death, the Jester arrived and repurposed his body into a vessel for a powerful creation."
He then raised his left hand, shooting out strings that began to wrap themselves around him, forming an almost full-body bandage.
"Albeit, the power of the God was long gone, and so was the strength of his body. However, it was said that the Jester found great pleasure in putting together his body, even if it knew it would fail."
His body shivered as he tilted his eyes towards the ceiling, piercing through the darkness as he let out a sensual moan.
"Ah~... Truly benevolent... How benevolent of the Jester to do such a kind thing despite knowing the inevitable!"
As Thalrek continued to feel pleasure about his faith in his belief, Lillian continued on with the history inside her head.
'The monster that was named after the God was then defeated during the sixth Era—the Era of Fractured Light—by the Bellona Empire. Its corpse was then handed over to the Echidna Empire to be created into 14 different weapons, which was the creation of the Regular Series.'
She then shifted her attention back to Thalrek, seeing him still rambling on about his faith. In any normal situation, she would've sneak-attacked him unhonorably.
However.
She knew the scrawny man would, without a doubt, block or dodge it. So, using the time she had, she was going to put together her thoughts.
Currently, there have only been 7 of the 14 Regular weapons to be found throughout their history, all of them being sold by an old man back in the Academy realm.
A unique NPC merchant in the game who went under the name Gruff.
However, in reality, it was just the scrawny man using the body of an old man as a puppet.
This was all for the purpose of getting to know the potential behind the Regular Series.
In the game, if you failed to awaken a selected weapon from his wares and went on to face him, you would ultimately find that he wouldn't bring the rest of the weapons with him. First published on MVL!EMPYR.
However...
Since a certain Assassin managed to achieve this requirement for the Puppeteer to bring along his weapons, she would now be able to take the weapons for free.
As Lillian was putting together her thoughts, she noticed a dark shadow looming over her from above.
Feeling the sense of danger hovering over her, she dashed to the side, avoiding a falling stab from above that—
CRASH!
—Tore through the stone ground.
Lillian, having regained her balance, morphed her body into water, avoiding the stone shrapnels that shot through her.
Her gaze pierced through the dust cloud that formed, watching as Thalrek pulled his greatsword from the ground.
Lillian then quickly leaned back as something sliced through the dust cloud, swinging over her.
FWISH!
It was the greatsword. And wrapped around its hilt were strings.
CRASH!
Lillian watched as it slammed through the stone pillar to her right, shattering it, before swinging around and wrapping around another.
However, right before it could make another spin around that pillar, Thalrek disconnected the string, causing the greatsword to fly towards him, carried by its momentum.
He twisted his body around, narrowly dodging the greatsword before grabbing it midair with his right hand and hurling it towards Lillian with ease.
Lillian, raising her hand, summoned a wall of water that spun with extreme speed. (3)
SPLASH!
The greatsword crashed into the spinning wall, causing a spillage of water that fell to the ground, forming a puddle.
Fortunately, the thrown weapon didn't go far and was instead lost in the protective rotation of the wall.
As Lillian was about to move forward and retrieve the greatsword, intending to store it within her ring. However, with a curious glance at the puddle beneath her, she found a bandaged figure above her, falling.
She quickly dashed back again, dodging a crushing blow as Thalrek slammed his mechanical arm into the ground, causing a small crater.
Lillian, stumbling back, couldn't help but grimace and even sweat a bit from the strength of his blows. (3)
She feared that even a single punch to the centre of her body would definitely leave a bloody hole.
"You're truly a rodent. Running every little chance you get without facing me head on!" Thalrek caught his greatsword, stopping it from spinning inside the wall before yanking it out.
He then raised his blade and sliced down on the spinning construct, destroying it as his greatsword thrummed with mana.
Placing the weapon on his shoulder, he added:
"Could it be that my status has left you worried? Afraid? Scared? Shivering? KYAHAHA!"
As he continued to cackle mockingly at Lillian, his voice causing her headaches, she couldn't help but feel extremely... Pissed.
"Your voice is annoying. Do be quiet." She responded coldly, her eyes narrowing behind her mask as she watched the bandaged man quiet down. (2)
Although she couldn't see it due to the strings wrapped around his face, she was sure that the man was giving her a vile grin.
"Be... quiet?" He slowly repeated, chuckling a bit at the end before responding in a sneering voice:
"How about you make me, rodent?"
Lillian, hearing this, nodded firmly before summoning a pair of swords from water and dashing in with a gleam in her sapphire blue eyes.
