The One Who Tamed Mereoleona: Chapter 3

Grand Magical Zone [Fire]

–Ignis formerly Vermillion–

"Ah, what a drag!" He muttered as he floated cross legged, on his way back to the nice cabin he had found on his way out, with the Royal Lady floating behind him. It was true, he was once a part of the Vermillion Family, a distant branch family that is.

He sighed as it brought back bad memories, of his parents being dead for some obscure reason that was never made clear to him, of being mocked by the other kids because he did not have parents, then of being envied because his talent with Fire Magic was simply more than that of the others.

Nothing compared to the main line but still, more than enough for him to be catapulted into an important position in the Magic Knights.

"Well, if I had made it there anyway," he muttered as they finally reached the section of the forest where the Mereleona girl had ambushed him, right in his sleep. Well, that was a bit of an exaggeration because he knew she was approaching even in the semi awake state he called sleep.

He couldn't really sleep anymore, courtesy of his Mana Zone being active at all times. It was sometimes a pain in the ass but most of the time, it was great. The ability to fade into the mana of the world was an ability that had allowed him to escape detection too many times to count.

Ever since that day, he had refused to go back to Clover Kingdom for any reason whatsoever. He had no reason to, despite being strong enough to rub their faces in their loss. He was never really the emotional type anyway and over the years, he had figured out his emotions had been muted, ever since he was a kid.

He didn't feel too happy, too sad, or anything too extreme. Some sort of mental illness because it could not be magical or otherwise the Witch Queen would have been able to sense it when he spent over a year in her forest, simply out of curiosity. The woman was nice enough when she wasn't trying to kill any man for the crime of simply entering his home.

With his Mana Zone, he could sense that no threat to the Royal Girl was present in the Edge of the zone but even then, he could not leave. Despite the Vermillion family being dead to him, this girl did not do anything to him, except try to burn him alive and then chase him through the Zone simply because she wanted a fight of some sort.

Her spell though, it was interesting. Depositing the Royal Girl on the makeshift bed that was hers apparently, he raised his hand as a rather familiar brand of magic appeared on it.

With a flex of his will, the mana bled into his Mana Zone, creating a barrage of punches, on a fixed point in front of him, with not an ounce of heating escaping his Mana Zone because of his impeccable control over it.

"Simple yet powerful," He muttered to himself as he sat down on one of the chairs. He could already feel some powerful mana signatures arrive at the edge of the boundary. The flavour of their mana being space and then that of fire, along with plant?

When did the Vermillion family get the Plant magic attribute? He shrugged his shoulders, not his problem.

He was only here because he went a little overboard in showing off his magic. In his defense, he never had the chance to use his Fire Magic anymore. His control over Mana Zone meant that aside from full Spirit transformation users, he could subdue almost any other Magic Knight with a mere thought. After decades of use of Mana Zone and almost a decade of use of Active Mana Zone, his body has been strengthened tremendously, to the point that he could High tier spells with his body alone, without any issue whatsoever.

Not on the level of this Royal Girl though. Whoever she was, she was the real deal. Just being royal doesn't mean they would grow as strong as she did.

"Mereoleona, huh?" He muttered to himself, scratching his chin as he tried to remember why that name felt familiar. It should not be too hard, his only encounter with Clover Kingdom Magic Knights was in the form of encountering a Dark Magic User on the fringes of the Forsaken Realm. He didn't even speak to the man, just subdued him for a moment and fled the area, as was his signature move when encountering people.

He was not really good with people, he was told.

Man, Lichita would be really angry at me.

"Ah! That's why!" His finger snapping, a light bulb lit up in his head as he finally remembered why that name was familiar. It was the name of the daughter of the Head of the family when that incident happened. He remembered it because the entire castle was lit up with joy at the firstborn of the Vermillion Family.

"Damn, she's really royalty, huh? No wonder this is the response," he said while feeling the Mana signatures close in on their location, with multiple stronger Fire Magic mana flavours, all of them nobles or royals by their mana levels.

Although the amount of Mana does not indicate combat ability, it is still a decent indicator, especially for those who can traverse through a Grand Magical zone.

"Ah! Troublesome," He stood up and went out of the stone cabin, with Fire Arms sprouting behind him, white ones just in case these people decided to be hot headed and try something they regret.

"Though, this would not be the first or the last time he would be burned by nobles or royals," He laughed a bit at his own joke as he stood at the entrance. Might as well greet these people since they had come into his territory. He had never really ventured out of the Grand Magical Zones, only choosing to enter the fringe territories of any kingdom to avoid recognition or more importantly, combat of any kind if he wanted to travel to the next Grand Magical Zone.

Also, he stopped masking his magical signature to an extent, letting them know he was here. Anything to stop them from making any rash moves plus, he wanted to see if the Current Family Head knew anything about his incident. It was not something he would have pursued on his own but since the opportunity came knocking on his door, he would be a fool not to take it.

It was written in one of the many books that Lemiel wrote and was disseminated by the royals as subtle propaganda, obviously after a thorough edit.

With a shake of his hand, Mereloeona's body was covered in fire which then dissipated in an instant, leaving her completely healed and full of her Mana Reserves, wouldn't want these people to have any suspicions about him.

After all, he already had his grimoire when Mereoleona was just born. He was practically ancient compared to her, and yet, he did not look a day over 30 because of a combination of factors.

Active Mana Zone and Overwhelming Magic.

Two things that had gotten him through all his life, after that day.

Grand Magical Zone

–Ignatius Vermillion–

"Halt!" He ordered as their part came to a halt, with a formation of Fire Mage users around the Vaude family Spatial Mage they had contracted for this special assignment.

"What is it, father?" Fuegoleon asked him, his gaze surveying the lands in front of them. When he had received an alert from the guards he had stationed at the edge of the Zone because he was worried for his daughter, he almost had a heart attack when she mentioned fighting someone who overpowered her with ease.

Then he saw the magical transmission, the image, and the short video in which the man stopped Mereleona, his pride, and joy, the jewel of the Vermillion family, with startling ease.

"I sense a massive Mana signature, right where her cabin should be," His body tensed as he tried to get a reading on this Mana Signature. One of the Magic Knights they had brought with him took out a Magic Tool and confirmed that Merelona's signature was also in the same place.

He sighed in relief that at least she was unhurt but still, this was not over. Mereoleona suspected this man to be of Vermillion origin but he did not know anyone of that age in their family.

"Let's go, Father," Fugeoleon asked him and he nodded, cautioning the squad. After all, if they could get out of this place without a fight, it would be for the best.

The closer he went to the cabin, the hotter the place became the more turbulent the ambient Mana, making it harder for Mereleona to use Mana Zone.

"No wonder Elder sister comes here to train," Fugeoleon muttered as they finally came to the edge of the land where Mereoleona had built her cabin, and had marked it on a map to the guards stationed here, on the condition that she would not be called home for at least 6 months.

Those were some hard 6 months.

"Ready?" He asked the squad members, especially the Vaude family member who was instructed to grab Mereoleona & Feugoleon and flee from here in case of a fight.

Just as they turned the corner, he saw something that made him freeze in place, along with all the Vermillion family members he had brought with them.

Standing in front of him was the same mage but now surrounded by white fire.

God help them all.
