The One Who Tamed Mereoleona: Chapter 10
Clover Kingdom Royal Capitol
–Fuegoleon Vermillion–
He slammed the door open, barging into his father's office, foregoing all decorum, something that he had not done in all the time he could remember, his magic flaring out.
"Wh- Fuegoleon, what happened to you?" His father, the ex-Patriarch of the Vermillion House asked him, aghast at seeing his current condition.
He gave father a strained smile, and all but collapsed into the nearest chair, father getting up to fret all over him.
"It's Elder Sister. She's gone…crazy," He winced as he felt yet another one of many injuries piled up on his body by his sister. She had been livid because of the order placed on her, forbidding her from even approaching the Grand Magical Fire Zone.
If it was an order from his father, his elder sister was crazy enough and more importantly, strong enough to just ignore his words and waltz back into that Zone but this time, the order was actually reinforced by a similar one, coming straight from the office of Wizard King, stopping any planned expeditions into the Zone by any Clover Kingdom citizen.
"Alfred! Call the Medics!" His father shouted but he sported a helpless look on his face. After all, it was well known that his elder sister had gone around the Clover Kingdom, challenging strong people whenever she came back to the Capitol, being an all around nuisance and that was when she came back willingly, or at least, without being strong armed into it.
This time, she was forbidden by the Wizard King himself from going back so she was livid and had gone around challenging everyone she could find. Sensing her willingness to inflict damage on anyone who was foolish enough to challenge her, all of them resigned.
In the end, he had to step in and spar with his sister, which was more along the lines of a one sided beatdown with him unable to even graze his sister who went all out from the beginning.
Good news was that he was finally beginning to understand what Mana Zone actually was and if things went on, he might be able to actually get his own Mana Zone….if he survived until that point in time, that is.
"...I will go and try to talk some sense into her. Injuring her own brother like this, there has to be a limit." His father murmured, shaking his head as he exited the office but he was already slipping as he felt the family's medics work their magic on his battered body.

–Ignis Vermillion–
His left eye cracked open as he looked at a corner of Homura's lair, though calling it Homura's lair exclusively would be a little wrong. He was meditating, trying to understand more about himself, as he usually did most of the time since being attuned with the Mana of the World meant that he needed little in the way of food or water, Mana did most of the heavy lifting for him.
He whispered, his voice barely even audible to himself, "Show yourself," as he put increasing amounts of pressure on the spot of flawless spatial magic that had been executed right in the middle of his Active Mana Zone, a feat in and of itself. The only one who replicated something close to that being the Wizard King with his time Magic but even then, the bubble was of time and not space, hence the irregularities in Space.
This one, however, whoever it was, had nearly impeccable control over the space attribute. He knew that there was a family in Clover Kingdom capable of spatial magic but that was nowhere near this absurd. If that family had someone of the Wizard King level, the world would have known about it already.
No, this was someone else.
He had been increasing his pressure steadily and yet, even after a whole minute had passed, he could not feel anything other than the absolutely polished feeling of space. Not even Mana escaped that small block of space.
'Huh,' This was interesting, he thought to himself as he opened both his eyes and glared straight at the spot, unleashing the full pressure he could bring to bear with his Mana Zone. Homura, sensing something, stirred from his slumber, releasing giant gusts of fire in every direction, simply by snoring and snorting.
He snorted as he leaned out of the way, a tiny spatial shard passing through where his forehead was, creating a hole in the Fire Mana strengthened stone behind him.
Well, that was rude.
He stood up, his half torn grimoire unfolding as white blazes of fire appeared all around him, melting the ground below. From experience, he knew that this level of flames was not enough to overwhelm someone of that level, so with a thought, his flames turned blue and he had to suppress a wince as Homura whimpered at the feel of those flames.
Apologizing silently, he Used his Mana Zone to push Homura out of his lair as a stream of blue flames assaulted the same spot where he detected the assailant to be. After all, in his decades of travelling the world, even going to the Hino world after figuring out a way to calm the Mana Storm that existed in between the Four Kingdoms Continent and the Hino Kingdom, he had not instigated any fight and once attacked, he hadn't left anyone alive to tell the tale.
'Except her' The face of Mereleona entered his mind as he thought of why he had left her alive or even why he had even entertained the Vermillion family.
All the work of the Mana of the World. There was no way he would ever let that slight go.
He smirked as the stealth spell unraveled, revealing the form of a man with cold eyes and a sharp face, looking at him emotionlessly, even as his spell struggled to devour the blue flames being sent his way.
He snorted as he put forth his other arm, and let loose another barrage of blue flames, the flames warping the very air as they neared the Royally clothed man. Despite the emotionless facade, he could see the man struggling to contain his flames with little beads of sweat already on his face.
Seeing the futility of his actions, the man finally moved from the spot he was occupying. Seeing that he wasn't taking any overt actions, he snorted and stopped the barrage of flames, returning the overall temperature of the surroundings, though all the internal stones had partially melted from the heat while the land around the blue flames had turned to glass.
"Not running?" He asked the man, amused at his lack of action. He had locked the area down with his Mana Zone. Not even someone of the Wizard King's calibre would be able to break in, at least not before he could finish doing his business.
As far as most people were concerned, Wizard King or not, the entirety of Homura's lair was now under his absolute control.
"No…..Who are you?" The man asked him after taking a pause and hoisting his grimoire back inside, which showed the Spade Kingdom symbol, quite clearly.
"So you are from the Spade Kingdom. Quite far from home though judging by your magic and your strength, the trip must have been quite easy. Who are you and what are you doing here?"
The man took another deep look at him and then at his half torn Grimoire, before disappearing from view. He lashed out with his Mana Zone to capture the guy but a strange Mana burst out from that guy, obscuring him from his vision and also shattering his Mana Zone partially before the Space itself was torn apart, likely to forcefully create a portal.
Both of his hands lashed out, as a massive tornado of blue flames surged towards the broken down space. The strange Mana lasted for a lot longer than he expected it to, before the flames, weakened by that strange slimy Mana, slammed into the rapidly closing spatial portal.
Using his Mana Zone, he stabilised the Mana around that spell, and opened his grimoire, finally using a spell for the first time in over 8 years, the last time being when he had to calm the Mana Storm to traverse the Ocean safely.
[ Fire Magic : Mana Zone : Lance of the Fury! ]
The blue flames around his hand swelled to create a titanic wave of magic, with their intensity decreasing back to white flame levels, as a spinning lance of white flames appeared right in front of him.
The edge of the lance flickering between blue and white as he took hold of it and threw it forward like a javelin, at the locked down Spatial Mana residue. The lance instantly crossed the distance and paused mid air, as if striking something invisible.
He smiled as, after a moment of pause, a blue crack appeared in the sky and the lance crossed into it before he loosened his hold over the Mana and let the Portal close, once and for all, knowing that this level of retaliation was enough for a half hearted attack.
Letting his Mana Zone bleed off the Fire oriented Mana particles he had accumulated just in case, he took in the scenery all around him.
The land was glass now, which was not good because Homura's paws were very slippery and the big lizard did not like looking at his own face. Poor creature was scared of how hideously ugly its own face was.
The stone boundary was all but gone, melted into a pile of goo, creating a ring of melted stone around Homura's lair.
Turning around, he winced sheepishly as he saw that the top half of Homura's lair was gone, probably because of that spatial shard, and then the aftermath must have been taken care of by his spell.
"Well, time for renovations?" He looked up at the absolutely furious looking Homura who breathed down an avalanche of flames at him.
From inside those flames, he sighed and deadpanned at the Lizard, "Yeah, dump on the guy who saved your sorry ass."
Alas, Homura was not in a listening mode and it was not possible for Ignis' unenhanced voice to get out of the waterfall of lava he was currently being bathed in.
