Chapter 0 - Prologue
Have you ever read a romance fantasy? Unfortunately, I haven’t.
Back in elementary school, when my friends were playing rooftop escape at the playground, I was devouring Harry Potter at the nearby library.
When I entered middle school and my friends were religiously attending PC rooms, I was marking my attendance at manga shops. Not to read manga, but to read fantasy novels.
In high school, while my friends were intensely studying math textbooks, I was intensely reading web novels. Consequently, I was math-illiterate throughout high school.
I love books. I’m not picky about what kind, but I especially love novels, particularly fantasy novels. I enjoyed imagining impossible fantasies through written words.
As a result, once I became somewhat mature, my biggest hobby became web novels. On my days off, I’d shut myself in my studio apartment and read novels all day.
What they call a hikikomori—well, not quite that bad, but definitely an indoor person. To put it nicely, that’s what I was; simply put, I was a loner. I could peek into dozens or hundreds of imaginary worlds without spending much money, all from my little room. What a loner-friendly hobby.
Despite loving web novels indiscriminately, there was one genre I never touched.
Romance fantasy.
I’m not sure why I disliked romance fantasy so much. Actually, I didn’t even dislike it. I just wasn’t interested.
But what can I do if it’s just not entertaining no matter how much I try to read it?
So I never paid any attention to the romance fantasy genre. Why would I waste time on a genre I found boring when there were plenty of other novels to read?
Damn, I should have forced myself to read them anyway. I should have swallowed them down, bitter as they were.
Because now I’ve fallen into a romance fantasy world.
