I'm In Love With My Bestfriend's Billionaire Fiance!

Chapter 23: Plans For War!

"I'm not in the mood for peace right now," I muttered irritably into the laptop that was open before me, I was staring into the face of DiBlass, one of the top lawyers in Silicon Valley and my very good friend. I had been in a conversation with him for over an hour now, trying to consider my legal options should things with my uncle escalate any further.

I know that I told Casey that I wouldn't take it to court, and honestly, I had no intention of doing so. I just know my uncle very well, and I know how low he can go just to have his way. It could very well be that if I was going to have my way, it could only be done in the courthouse.

"Well, you better get yourself in the mood, Kira." DiBlass replied. So far, he had not been telling me what I wanted to hear, exactly like what Casey had been telling me. "Now is not the time for the company to seem like a divided house."

"I'm sick of all this, man!" I rasped, "My uncle is trying to steal my birthright, right from under me and give it to someone that's not even in the family. Yet, everyone keeps telling me to calm down and think about it!"

"Nobody who loves you will encourage you to go blind into a war with your uncle, it could destroy the company, which is what you're fighting for after all."

I rolled my eyes at him as I shifted on the bed, tightening my robe so I could be more comfortable, "I just want to know my legal options should this case ever get to court. How bad could it be for me legally? And what do I stand to gain?"

"Legally, you might win in court. But the company itself might not survive it. So, as your lawyer, I'm advising you to try your possible best to make sure that it doesn't get to court. You're a smart woman, I'm sure you can figure out a way to take what's yours without filing any lawsuit."

"Why is this sounding like you're scared of my Uncle? DiBlass, I know that it'll be messy and it will probably be headlines all through the period it's running. But when you think about it, your ratings will definitely go up, especially if you help me win! Besides, you already said that I would most likely win; I have a sexist uncle who would rather place a strange man in power than allow me to run my birthright simply because I'm a woman. In this day and age, he'll be chewed out by the press. Honestly, I can't think of any scenario where I won't win this case. Hell, even our customers would sympathize with me. It could increase our viewership."

"It could, but then, remember that you're not only doing this for the viewers and the courts. Don't forget the major stakeholders in the company, the people whose investments are keeping the lights on. You also have to impress them and take it from me, that is not the way to go. They should be your target, Casey. They should be the ones you should be trying so hard to win over to your side."

At that, I sat on my haunches as I stared at the screen, but I was no longer seeing DiBlass. My mind was wandering, thinking about what he said. It really made sense and when I thought about it, it was something that I could do. I knew more than half of the investors personally and I could try to get them to see things my way. I already knew that the women would be on my side, I just had to find out about the men, and see how many of them were sexist pigs like my uncle.

"Kira!" DiBlass's voice pulled me back into the hotel room, I smirked my lips at him. "You just gave me a thought, thank you very much."

He nodded with a smile, "I'm glad to hear that. I urge you to do your best to find some other way to solve this. The court should only be the last resort."

"No problem, now I have to return to the work I was doing before your call came in. Talk to you later, okay?"

And like that, I cut the call. As the lawyer's face cleared from my screen, the next window popped up. It was a spreadsheet and a host of other soft documents that I had been working on. I started on it last night after Casey had left me to return to her room. I worked until late before I slept off. This morning, after discharging Lena, I returned to continue the job.

It was going to be my flagship project, one that I would immediately embark on once I took control of Beacon Studios. I was going to do everything I could to take the company to the next level and show everyone that I was very much capable of leading such a major company. As always, money would always be a motivating factor, once I showed that I can make loads of money for them, the stakeholders won't care at all that I have boobs and a pussy.

DiBlass was right, I had been focusing on the wrong thing. My Uncle had always thought that he had everything under control and he could fix things however he wanted. It made him arrogant. However, I could exploit that, take out his support system, and turn all the stakeholders over to my side so that whatever stunt he tried to pull, I would be able to counter it.

But what next? The question echoed dully in my brain, causing me to slowly push the laptop away. What would happen when I came out of the closet and revealed to the world that I was bisexual? How would the stakeholders react when they learned that my fiance's personal assistant was also my girlfriend?

I let out a sigh as I ran my fingers through my rumpled hair, I twisted my neck both ways as I tried to get more comfortable. But nothing was working. There was just so much on my mind, so much so that I almost didn't notice when my phone beeped beside me. It was the notification for a text message.

I picked it up and unlocked it, the message jumped right at me from the phone. My eyes widened in shock as I stared at the text, I felt my heart beat heavily in my chest as a chill ran down my spine. My fingers trembled slightly as I tried to hold on to the phone. My eyes roved over the message once again, the chilling words read:

  "I know what you are!"
