Chapter 281: Chapter 281 Autumn

The connection between Earth and the Ninja World had been severed for over a month. Just as Logan was beginning to grow accustomed to the precious mundanity of daily life, the unknown and the supernatural surged toward him once more.

On the afternoon of late December, just before Christmas Eve, the phenomenon of transmigration struck again without warning, dragging him back into the chaos.

As the surrounding scenery stabilized, Logan quickly realized he was no longer in Akihabara.

One moment, he was leisurely browsing the electronics district, the next, he was caught in this sudden upheaval. Questions flooded his mind, but Logan took a deep breath, pushing past the shock, and forced himself to calmly assess the situation.

The first question was obvious: why had he transmigrated again? He recognized the sensation unmistakably.

Looking around, he noticed that the towering buildings adorned with posters of cute anime girls and the otaku-culture shops were nowhere to be found. Instead, he stood amidst sloping hills, untended wild grass, and densely grown trees.

He was in the wilderness. Though the location was unfamiliar, Logan strongly suspected he had returned to the Ninja World. While there were no distinctive landmarks, his Chakras' renewed clarity further confirmed his suspicion.

Piecing together his memories, Logan recalled that a dimensional jump usually occurred at the same location across worlds.

It didn't take him long to recognize this area: it was the same place he, Itachi, and Kisame had rested briefly after evading Konoha's pursuit.

The spot was near the northern border of the Land of Fire, close to the borders of the Land of Iron and the Land of Waterfalls.

Logan's extensive combat experience had trained him to remain composed in unexpected situations. He scanned the area and soon found faint but discernible traces of an old campsite among the grass and soil.

'Looks like no one's been here for a while... Itachi must've left.'

Standing atop the hill, Logan surveyed the landscape. Verdant grass, interspersed with patches of yellow, spread eastward in a vast expanse, dotted in the distance by a village visible only as a dark speck.

The wind brushing against him felt warmer than it had back on Earth, 'It was still autumn here.'

Though the sudden reappearance in the Ninja World caught him off guard, Logan decided to take it in stride.

Without immediate answers, he sat on a nearby rock, coincidentally the same one Kisame had once used to grumble during their search for Logan.

His thoughts soon turned to his shadow clone.

Back on Earth, his connection to the clone had vanished abruptly. And here, it was still unresponsive. After several fruitless attempts to re-establish contact, Logan sighed.

;'What could've caused the shadow clone to disperse?' Logan muttered to himself, frowning.

He found it hard to believe it had been defeated. He considered various possibilities, but without more information, everything remained speculative.

'Normally, the disappearance of a shadow clone would trigger a memory transfer…' Logan furrowed his brow deeply, 'Even if the shadow clone disappeared in an accident, why didn't I receive any memory feedback?'

This deviation from his past experiences troubled him. The absence of the shadow clone's memories left him unable to piece together what had occurred.

As he pondered, the quiet rustling of the grass in the breeze was his only companion.

After some time, Logan massaged his temples and decided to shelve his fruitless conjectures.

In the end, the lack of feedback meant the circumstances surrounding his shadow clone's disappearance were now an enigma. As the main body uninvolved in the shadow clone's predicament, any theories Logan formed would be unreliable.

The event might be a strange anomaly, or something entirely mundane.

"But it's not all without clues." Logan muttered, tugging at his jacket as he felt the warmth of the sun, "When something happened to the shadow clone, I immediately encountered the transmigration..."

It is too strange to attribute this to a simple coincidence. Logan believed the two events were linked.

'And the shadow clone disappeared while investigating the Manga Author. Whether directly or indirectly, something is fishy about that...'

This connection, Logan surmised, might point toward the source of his transmigration.

Looking once more at the grass swaying in the autumn breeze, Logan slowly steadied his emotions.

'Progress, however slight, was still progress. Pessimism wouldn't solve anything.' Caught up in events beyond his control, Logan resolved to face whatever came his way.

"Well then..." He stood and steeled himself with renewed determination. Glancing around, Logan realized there were no paths leading anywhere, but as a Ninja, such limitations didn't concern him.

Seconds later, though, a new problem dawned on him.

"What should I do now?"

'Akatsuki? Konoha? Based on the manga's progression I had kept up with back on Earth, over two months should have passed since my 'disappearance'. Neither of those places would welcome me now.'

'Both Pain and the Third Hokage were undoubtedly furious with me. No matter where I went, I'd likely find myself on the receiving end of a blade.'

Feeling defeated, Logan plopped back down onto the rock, "I guess I'll think it over some more."

Akihabara, a bookstore on the street.

Olivia stood silently in front of a Naruto poster, lost in thought. Compared to the typical over-sexualized marketing with exaggerated curves and revealing outfits, this poster was like a breath of fresh air.

Oddly, though, she felt that one of the characters on it bore an uncanny resemblance to Logan.

Her musings were interrupted by a commotion nearby, coming from her groupmate. She turned toward the door as Diane, who had just returned from outside, called out to her with an uneasy expression. "Senior, Logan went out."

At this time, David, who had just finished chatting with two friendly high school girls by the bookshelves, heard this as he walked over and chimed in: "Logan suddenly rushed out looking all tense. We called after him, but he didn't stop. Did he say where he was going?"

The question was directed at Diane, but Diane did not answer for a while.

She had seen Logan leave in a hurry earlier but hadn't paid much attention at the time. Olivia let go of the poster she had been scrutinizing and nodded toward Diane, whose awkward expression persisted, "Okay, I understand, what's the matter?"

Diane waved her hands vaguely, struggling to describe what had happened, "I called out to Logan, but he acted like he didn't hear me. He didn't say where he was going. I followed him to the door, but when I looked outside... he was gone."

Olivia's expression shifted slightly, "Gone?"

Diane nodded quickly, recounting the scene in more detail.

"Damn, he ran that fast?" David exclaimed, his focus clearly misplaced, "Don't tell me he snuck off to that adult shop we passed earlier..."

Unconvinced, David pushed the door open to check. Sure enough, there was no sign of Logan outside.

While they were all familiar with each other, they were still traveling abroad, and personal safety was a priority. Seeing that David also failed to find Logan, Olivia confirmed once again with her two companions that Logan hadn't mentioned his plans before running off.

If their guide had been there, they might have faced a dilemma… after all, even a short disappearance required clear communication, especially in unfamiliar territory.

After a brief pause, Olivia, the unofficial leader of this group's Japan exchange program, suggested, "Maybe he just went to the restroom. We'll..." She trailed off, surveying her surroundings before continuing, "...wait for him outside since we're about done here anyway."

Diane and David immediately picked up on her concern that this wasn't the best place to linger. The store clerk had already been watching them uneasily during their conversation. They nodded in agreement and stepped outside.
