Chapter 71: CHAPTER 71
Spiral Wheel Yu
The moonlight was like a gentle stream, washing over the vast forests of the Land of Fire.
Naruto stood atop a thick branch of a towering tree, his cerulean eyes fixed on the brightly lit Hidden Leaf Village in the distance. For a moment, he felt a strange sense of nostalgia.
No matter how unbearable Konoha had been, it still carried all the memories of his life since he arrived in this world. If not for the cold treatment from Hiruzen Sarutobi and the villagers, would he have chosen to leave?
Exhaling slowly, Naruto shifted his gaze to the endless woods stretching before him.
Compared to Konoha, where deception and politics ran rampant, the shinobi world—where strength dictated fate—was the true stage for his ambitions.
As he bathed in the moon's glow, a cold, calculating voice broke the silence.
"You hesitate before leaving. Why defect if you still long for the village?"
Naruto turned slightly. Standing below, flanked by elite shinobi in identical, dark uniforms, was an aged figure leaning on a cane. The moonlight revealed the unmistakable bandaged face of Shimura Danzo.
Naruto smirked. This was the man known as Konoha's darkness—the leader of Root, a ruthless organization that sacrificed individuals under the guise of protecting the village.
Without hesitation, Naruto leaped down, landing gracefully. His voice was casual but laced with defiance.
"Old man, it's way past your bedtime. Shouldn't you be resting instead of sticking your nose into my business?" His grin widened. "I left because I wanted to. Simple as that."
Danzo's brow furrowed. Hiruzen truly raised a reckless Jinchūriki.
But it was not too late to correct that mistake. To Danzo, a Jinchūriki was a weapon, not a person. Bonds and friendships were distractions. Orders and control were all that mattered.
His single visible eye glinted as he silently signaled his men. The Root shinobi moved in, forming a circle around Naruto. The objective was clear: subdue and retrieve. The aftermath could be dealt with later.
Danzo had already considered how to justify his actions. If Hiruzen objected, he could argue that Naruto's defection proved his failure as Hokage. Koharu and Homura would back him, tipping the balance in his favor.
As the Root operatives closed in, Naruto's expression remained unchanged.
Through his shadow clones, he had known of their pursuit long ago. He had no intention of running. If he wanted to leave Konoha freely, he needed to eliminate these obstacles.
Before Danzo's forces could strike, a dozen clones burst from the shadows, forming a coordinated attack.
"Fūton: Kamikaze!"
A sudden windstorm spiraled outward, disrupting the formation of the Root shinobi.
In the center of the chaos, the real Naruto lunged forward, a Rasengan forming in his palm.
The swirling chakra sphere connected with the first opponent, sending him hurtling backward. He crashed into a tree, leaving behind a deep crater.
Danzo took half a step back instinctively before regaining his composure. His sharp mind reevaluated the situation.
When Naruto had encountered Kakashi and Guy earlier, Danzo had assumed Kakashi had let him escape out of sentimentality. But now, he saw the truth—Kakashi had simply been outmatched.
Naruto had already reached elite Jōnin level.
Danzo clenched his cane. What has Hiruzen been doing? Instead of refining this weapon, he let it rot in a classroom?
But the stronger Naruto was, the more valuable he became. If Danzo could subdue him, his control over the village would be solidified.
With a subtle glance, he signaled his two most trusted operatives—an elite from the Yamanaka clan and another from the Aburame clan.
The Yamanaka ninja swiftly weaved signs, attempting Shintenshin no Jutsu—the Mind Body Switch Technique.
Simultaneously, the Aburame unleashed a cloud of nano-sized poison insects, which surged toward Naruto like a living mist.
But before the insects could land, a gust of wind scattered them.
A moment later, the Yamanaka operative clutched his head and screamed in agony.
"My spirit was… expelled… The Nine-Tails devoured my mind!"
The Root operative staggered before collapsing, his consciousness forcefully ejected.
From within Naruto's subconscious, the deep, rumbling voice of Kurama chuckled.
"A fool trying to invade my Jinchūriki's mind? I should've devoured him completely."
Naruto smirked. That's why I dodged. Needed to take care of the small fry before the real fight began.
Regaining control, he turned his attention to the Aburame ninja, whose insects had begun swarming once more.
With a burst of chakra, Naruto's arm was engulfed in a red tailed beast cloak.
Without hesitation, he struck.
His fist connected with the Aburame's abdomen. A sickening crack echoed through the forest as ribs shattered.
Yet, instead of pain, a faint smile appeared on the Aburame's face.
He had been raising deadly insects inside his body for years—his very flesh was infused with toxins. The moment Naruto made contact, the poison had begun seeping into his bloodstream.
Or so he thought.
A few seconds later, the Aburame's expression stiffened.
Naruto flexed his fingers. His tailed beast cloak had prevented the poison from reaching him.
Danzo's expression darkened.
Instantly neutralizing elite operatives… This is beyond even most Jōnin. His strength has already reached the Kage level.
Realizing his men were insufficient, Danzo sighed and let his cane drop. He raised his hand, peeling back the bandages over his arm.
Beneath them, multiple Sharingan gleamed ominously.
Naruto frowned. "Sharingan? Shouldn't those belong to the Uchiha?"
Danzo coughed, his tone grave. "This is your last chance, Jinchūriki. Come with me willingly."
Naruto's response was immediate.
Wind howled as a massive Fūton: Rasenshuriken formed in his grasp. The spiraling vortex of chakra illuminated the forest, its violent energy cutting through the surrounding trees.
Danzo swiftly evaded, but Naruto anticipated it.
In an instant, dozens of clones erupted from the ground, each unleashing their own attacks.
Danzo inhaled deeply—his chest expanding unnaturally. Then, with a single exhale, he released a devastating Fūton: Shinkū Renpa, razor-thin wind blades that shredded Naruto's clones midair.
Naruto barely dodged as the translucent blades sliced through rock and tree alike.
Kurama watched through his subconscious. "Huh. Didn't know Konoha had a wind user this strong."
"That's Danzo—the man who stole Shisui's eye. He's as strong as Hiruzen, just more of a snake."
Naruto chuckled. "But all that talk about control, and he never saw this coming."
A dark, swirling chakra orb formed in his palm—larger and more unstable than Rasenshuriken.
Danzo's men froze.
"That's… a Tailed Beast Bomb?"
"No… It's something different…"
With a sharp throw, Naruto launched Spiral Wheel Yu.
The moment it made contact, the explosion lit up the night, shaking the earth and leaving a molten crater.
Naruto landed softly, examining a severed arm at the blast's edge.
"Tch." He smirked. "Iz—Izanagi, huh?"
Danzo had escaped.
Naruto sighed. "Well… I did warn him."
Kurama chuckled. "That's a nasty technique you've got there, kid. Still not on my level, though."
Naruto grinned. "Give me time."
He turned to the road ahead. Konoha was behind him now.
His new journey had just begun.
