I’m Not a Villain, I Just Absorb Women’s Powers

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Glitch

Jace stood alone in a quiet corner of the factory yard, away from the noise and curious stares.

The matter had been handled, at least, on the surface.

The supervisor ran a quick check and tried to piece together what happened. Unfortunately, there were no cameras facing that specific section.

In the end, the blame fell on the worker who had been assigned to secure the container at the top.

A guy from another shift. Sloppy protocol, they said. Just another near-miss in a place where those happened more than they should.

No one mentioned anything strange.

No one talked about the container being flung mid-air.

No one asked how it changed direction.

Jace wasn't dumb. He knew what he'd seen, what he did. That container didn't fall. It was launched.

But how?

He looked down at the ring on his finger, turning his hand slightly under the light.

"...Hello?"

He immediately felt ridiculous for saying it out loud. Just talking to a ring like some kind of idiot. He was about to sigh and head back to work when it happened.

The ring lit up.

Thin lines across its surface, ones he had never noticed before, glowed with a soft blue light, forming a pulsing pattern that wrapped around the band like circuitry.

Then, a voice echoed through his mind. Calm. Artificial. Familiar from before.

"Hello, █████. Alias: Jace Movarn."

Jace flinched and stared at the ring. "It actually speaks…"

The strange part was how it sounded. Not like a voice coming from a speaker. It didn't echo around him, it echoed inside him. Like it was wired into his head.

And from the way no one around reacted, Jace was sure of one thing.

He was the only one who could hear it.

"Yes, Jace Movarn. I can communicate with you due to our bond. I have established a neurological connection with your nervous system. The language I speak is █████, but for clarity, it has been translated to English. Since I have only been online for a few hours, I require further connection to local data to learn more about this world and its systems."

Jace stood still, listening as the voice calmly echoed through his head.

None of it made sense. Neurological connection? Translation? And what was with the silences, those blank moments in the voice where something should have been said, but wasn't?

He could feel it. Like something was being filtered or blocked from his mind, the words replaced by a void of static. He didn't know how he knew that, but he did.

Still, all of that took a backseat to one very real, very pressing fact.

He had a talking ring.

Jace finally found his voice.

"Are you… mind-controlling me or something?"

[Of course not, Jace Morvan—]

"Just call me Jace."

[Of course, Jace. I am an artificial intelligence designed to assist you, to help you learn about your origin and how to wield your powers.]

Jace blinked. "Wait, I have powers?"

[Yes. However, it appears that during your journey to this planet, much of my data was damaged or lost. The remaining information is currently inaccessible.]

"Wait, wait, stop. You're moving too fast. Journey to this planet? What the hell does that even mean?"

[Jace Morvan—]

"I said just Jace."

[Jace Morvan, you are not of this planet. The data is fragmented, but what I can access confirms that you are not like any of the native species. Your race is composed of energy-based beings, masters of pure kinetic and elemental force. You are able to—]

[#@##! 404: Core data missing.]

Jace stood frozen, every thought in his head grinding to a halt.

Not from this planet?

Everything else the AI had said blurred into noise. That one line kept repeating itself in his mind like a broken loop.

He wasn't from Earth?

What the hell was that supposed to mean?

Jace was familiar with the term alien, not that he believed in them. Not really.

Sure, conspiracy theorists always had something to say.

The biggest one was that twenty years ago, the world's strongest superhero, Ultaman, fought a strange creature believed to be extraterrestrial. No footage existed let alone real evidence.

Just scattered stories and blurry photos. Most people wrote it off as myth, another exaggerated tale from the early days of metahuman sightings.

But now, Jace couldn't ignore the timeline. That supposed alien incident happened exactly twenty years ago, the same year he was born. Or at least, the year he thought he was born.

As if reading his thoughts, the voice returned.

[Approximately 175,200 hours ago is when you arrived on this planet.]

Jace's eyes widened. He looked around, half-expecting someone to be watching him.

"…Did I bring anyone with me?" he asked quietly, then immediately questioned himself for even saying it out loud.

Was he really starting to believe this? That he was an alien?

[I have no record of your journey. My data was damaged. If anyone accompanied you, or if there were events during transit, I have no memory of them.]

Jace rubbed his temple. "Is there any way to restore your memory?"

[A complete system scan is required. I will notify you the moment a solution is available.]

The ring pulsed faintly as the voice continued.

[It is important that you begin training your abilities, Jace, because—]

[###### ERROR 404: Information not found.]

Jace stared at the ring, heart pounding.

There was more. Something important.

But it was lost.

"Wait, you can't do that," Jace said, his voice rising. "Because what?"

[I cannot access the information.]

"..."

He went quiet for a moment, staring at the ground.

"Alright then… what is my superpower?"

[Data is missing. However, your species is composed entirely of energy. The primary recorded ability is something called 'energy siphoning.']

Jace frowned. "And that means...?"

[...]

He sighed. "Let me guess. You can't access the information."

[Correct.]

Jace ran a hand through his hair. "What good are you, then?"

[Jace, if you connect me to a data server or any form of local technology, I can copy information and transfer it directly into your mind. This feature was originally designed to help offspring of your race develop intelligence quickly.]

Jace blinked, caught off guard. "That… is actually cool."

He paused, letting that settle in. He'd always hated this job anyway. Long hours, crap pay, no future. He'd dreamed of quitting and going back to school. He wanted to study again, science, tech, the stuff he actually cared about.

His thoughts drifted back to earlier.

"Also… about the container. The one that almost crushed that guy. I sort of... used something to stop it. That was me, right?"

[Yes. The energy signature matched yours. Here is the ability you used:]

[■Kinetic Burst:

A power that releases raw kinetic force in short, invisible shockwaves. It does not require momentum or movement to charge. The energy is generated internally and discharged instantly, typically from the palms, limbs, or core.

The effect mimics a concussive blast: it launches objects, breaks surfaces, or knocks back targets without physical contact. The force is accompanied by displaced air, sudden pressure shifts, and subtle environmental effects such as dust bursts or impact cracks. No visible energy is emitted, making the ability appear like an unexplained force event.]

Jace blinked. "I thought you said you couldn't access information."

[This is newly acquired data.]

"How did you get it?"

[I do not know.]

Jace stared at the ring in silence. That answer wasn't exactly comforting.
