Chapter 215: Chapter 10: Trust

Ten minutes later.

Rentaro Satomi, sprinting through the streets with the girl in his arms, finally arrived at the Tokyo branch of the International Initiator Supervision Organization. There, he met Nia Honjo, who was waiting for them.

By now, Nia had returned to her original appearance. The strange book and the flowing nun uniform were gone.

She was back in her plain plaid shirt and jeans nothing eye catching at all.

It was as if the mysterious nun from earlier had been nothing more than an illusion.

Yet, the two officers buried under the billboard on the commercial street were still there, and no one dared to help them. The girl they had bullied was now in Rentaro's arms, trembling and afraid to move. All of this confirmed that what had just happened was no illusion it was real.

"I need an explanation," Rentaro demanded as soon as he reached Nia.

While running, he'd been replaying the events in his mind.

Though he seen Nia strange transformation and watched her drawing come to life, everything was too bizarre. Even if he wanted to make sense of it, he had no answers.

He'd always been a staunch atheist, firmly believing that there were no gods in this world, let alone mortals with divine powers.

The Tendo family, who had adopted him, had deep ties to Buddhism, and he'd even studied under Kikunojou Tendo, learning to carve Buddha statues as a form of spiritual cultivation. Yet, he never held any religious beliefs.

But seeing Nia's drawing become reality had shaken him to his core.

Now, looking at her calm, almost smug expression, he felt like thousands of ants were crawling under his skin.

"Really? I've already told you the reason several times," Nia said calmly. "I'm a nun chosen by God, a messenger walking the world on His behalf."

"Stop slandering nuns! No nun would dress like that!"

Rentaro set the girl down, asking Enju and Nibelcole to comfort her, before turning back to Nia, his voice tinged with frustration.

Though he was more shocked by her ability to turn fantasy into reality, he couldn't ignore the sheer absurdity of her "nun's uniform."

Which god would design such a revealing outfit for their nun?

It looked more like a sexy cosplay costume than anything holy!

"Yeah, haha. I guess my Spirit outfit is a bit too much for a virgin like you," Nia teased, striking a provocative pose. "What's wrong, young man? Have you fallen for my curves~?"

"Can you be serious for once?"

Rentaro rubbed his temples, unable to bear her antics. "Why are you acting like this, you old woman? I'm not interested in someone like you flat chested, no curves, and looking like you're in your forties!"

"Aw, don't be shy~"

"It doesn't matter what your outfit looks like! Just tell me what happened back there!"

"You want to know my secret?"

"Isn't it obvious? Anyone who saw what just happened would be dying to know!"

"But since you know it's my secret, why should I tell you?" Nia's expression suddenly turned serious.

Rentaro froze, her straightforward question leaving him speechless.

She was right.

Why should she tell him?

Though they'd been neighbors for a year, and Enju and Nibelcole were close friends, he and Nia had only truly gotten to know each other yesterday.

Their relationship was still that of strangers.

In this situation, what right did he have to demand her secrets?

Realizing this, Rentaro overheated brain began to cool down.

Soon, he regained his usual composure.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you like that," he said, exhaling deeply. "I wasn't thinking clearly. I promise I won't ask any more questions. And don't worry I won't tell anyone what happened."

Seeing Rentaro sudden restraint, Nia serious expression melted into a mischievous smile.

"Ahahahaha! You're acting like a good kid just because I scared you a little. You're still such a child."

"Tsk..." Rentaro frowned.

"Well, if you really want to know my secret, it's not impossible. But everything has a price," Nia said, her tone playful yet calculating.

She thought for a moment before proposing a deal: "I'll tell you my secret, but you have to tell me yours. That's only fair, right?"

Rentaro considered her offer and nodded.

They were just neighbors who'd barely interacted. They weren't close, let alone trusting of each other.

Without trust, she had no reason to share her secrets.

But the fact that she'd revealed her abilities in front of him meant she was open to building a relationship.

Nia had shown her hand. If Rentaro wanted to establish trust, it was his turn to do the same.

Exchanging secrets was one of the best ways to build that trust.

Rentaro hesitated.

Though he desperately wanted to know Nia's secret, that didn't mean he was eager to share his own.

After all, if you told someone your deepest secrets, were they still secrets?

Nia wasn't in a hurry. She waited patiently for Rentaro decision.

If she could establish trust and cooperation with him, many things would become easier in the future.

No matter how flawed he was, he was still the protagonist of this world, connected to countless key figures: Kisara Tendo, Miori Shiba, Kikunojou Tendo, Sumire Muroto, and even the Holy Emperor.

If she wanted to complete her side quests quickly, building a good relationship with him was the best option.

But even if he refused, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

At most, she'd have to risk lowering her role playing accuracy and rely more on her abilities to achieve her goals.

Still, she preferred not to compromise her image unless absolutely necessary.

After all, the higher her role playing accuracy, the better her chances of drawing a top tier ability at the end.

To be honest, Nia Honjo's abilities might be the most versatile of all the Spirits.

Especially the Search Page and Blank Page. If she could master them, she'd be unstoppable in the new world after her return.

These were powers bordering on omniscience and omnipotence.

Well, perhaps not true omniscience or omnipotence. The Search Page couldn't predict the future, and the Blank Page couldn't resurrect the dead or create life. There were still limits.

But even so, mastering even one of these abilities would guarantee her a comfortable life after returning.

Moreover, unlike Tokisaki Kurumi time limited abilities, which consumed her lifespan with each use, Nia Honjo powers had no such drawbacks.

That's why the girl was determined to achieve an S rank in role playing this time. She wouldn't break character unless absolutely necessary, even if it meant enduring more hardship in this world.

Outwardly, Nia appeared calm, but inwardly, she was hoping Rentaro would agree to cooperate.

"Alright, I agree to your proposal," Rentaro said after several minutes of internal struggle.

He glanced around to ensure no one was nearby, then raised his right hand.

With a tap from his other hand, his seemingly ordinary arm made a metallic clink.

"I'm not an ordinary person either," Rentaro whispered.

"I'm a member of the 787th Mechanized Special Unit of the former Ground Self Defense Force Eastern Army a mechanical soldier created under the New Human Creation Plan."
