Chapter 221: Chapter 16: The Old Auntie Acts as a Matchmaker

To achieve cooperation, offering benefits is essential.

However, unlike Rentaro Satomi, Kisara Tendo isn't swayed by cheap appeals to justice or self-sacrifice. To secure her cooperation without any prior rapport, Nia needed to offer something Kisara couldn't refuse.

For Kisara Tendo, what she wanted most was revenge against the Tendo family.

Suffering from kidney disease and living a life harder than most, the only thing keeping her going was her thirst for vengeance.

Her goal in founding the Tendo Civil Security Company was to climb the ranks, gaining fame and influence in Tokyo to eventually challenge the Tendo family.

But she had overestimated herself and underestimated the Tendo family.

In the years since leaving her family, she had barely managed to survive, let alone rise to power.

She knew she was stagnating, and the realization that her revenge was slipping further away only deepened her resentment, hatred, and exhaustion.

Nia Honjo appearance gave her hope.

"Is everything you said true?" Kisara's breathing grew rapid, and an unnatural flush spread across her face.

"Over the years, you've secretly investigated the five people directly or indirectly responsible for your parents' deaths, haven't you?" Nia said calmly. "You know whether what I've said is true or not."

Though Kisara's company had made little progress, she hadn't been idle. Whenever she had time, she investigated the Tendo family, especially the five key figures tied to her parents' deaths.

This wasn't easy. These five were high-ranking members of the Tendo family and government officials. Gathering intelligence on them was nearly impossible.

Even after years of effort, all she had were vague, fragmented clues.

And clues were just that clues. They couldn't serve as definitive evidence. Kisara herself couldn't be sure if they were accurate.

Yet, the information Nia had just revealed matched the clues Kisara had gathered.

Kisara was now certain that Nia's information was at least eighty percent credible.

With this, she only needed to fill in the gaps to bring down these scumbags and exact her revenge.

The thought of finally achieving her revenge made Kisara's heart race, and a malicious smile crept across her lips.

Seeing this, Rentaro heart sank.

Just moments ago, he'd been worried about Nia.

Now, he was worried about Kisara.

Though he anticipated the meeting wouldn't go smoothly, he hadn't expected things to escalate this far. He had to intervene.

He quickly stepped out of the office, closed the door, and set Nia down, whispering, "Do you realize what you're doing? This won't help Kisara at all!"

"Better to guide than to block. Don't you understand such a simple principle?"

"If I'd known you and Kisara would talk about revenge today, I'd never have brought you here!" Rentaro's expression darkened. "For years, I've tried to suppress the darkness in Kisara's heart. Now, all that effort is wasted!"

"Oh, your efforts? They were wasted from the start." Nia sneered. "Young man, stop being so self-satisfied. Your efforts were never effective to begin with."

"No effect? Kisara hasn't talked about revenge much lately. She's been more normal than before. You call that ineffective?"

"Ah, poor Kisara-chan."

Nia spread her hands sympathetically. "Not only does she endure physical and emotional pain, but she also has to pretend to be normal for the sake of her only friend, just so he can feel at ease."

"I just don't want her to do something she'll regret!"

"It's easy to stand on the moral high ground and tell others to let go of their hatred, isn't it?" Nia's tone dripped with disdain. "In my second-rate shonen manga, when the righteous protagonist judges villains from their moral pedestal, isn't that exactly what you're doing?"

"I... I don't understand. Am I wrong?"

Rentaro couldn't accept her words and retorted, "She's planning to kill people! She could have a better life. Why is she so obsessed with revenge? Kisara's parents wouldn't want this for her!"

"Oh, no, young man. Of course, you're not wrong. Killing is wrong, and I hate it too." Nia shrugged. "But you're forcing Kisara-chan to do what you think is right, without considering what's right for her."

"What's right for her? You mean revenge? As her friend, I'm supposed to support her revenge instead of stopping her? Is that what friends do?" Rentaro shot back. "Aren't friends supposed to pull someone back when they go astray? If you watch someone go down the wrong path and do nothing, can you really call yourself a friend?"

Nia opened her mouth to continue but decided it was too much trouble. She waved her hand and gave up.

Rentaro was like a stubborn stone. While water could eventually wear it down, Nia didn't have the patience for that.

So, she decided to try a different approach.

"Young man, you like Kisara-chan, don't you?" Nia dropped the bombshell.

"I, uh... I mean..." Rentaro was caught off guard, unsure how to respond.

"Don't deny it. Kisara-chan already knows how you feel." Nia said calmly. "I've read your heart with the Whispering Volume, so I know you like her."

"What?! You said Kisara..."

Rentaro glanced back at the office and immediately lowered his voice. "You said Kisara knows I like her?"

"Yes. And she likes you too. You're both in love with each other."

Nia's tone shifted, now speaking with the wisdom of a matchmaker.

"Young man, it's not too late. If you're willing to listen to me, you and Kisara-chan can have a happy life together."
