Immortality begins with innate Bone Nourishing Technique

Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Perfect Comprehension

The Great Yan Dynasty.

Qing Province.

Snow Plum Manor.

Plum blossoms as pale as snow fluttered to the ground, their delicate fall stained with blood, making the scene even more desolate. Shouts and cries of slaughter shattered the manor’s usual serenity and beauty.

“Kill!”

“Today, no one in the Snow Plum Manor shall survive!”

“Not even an ant shall be spared!”

The cold and merciless voices echoed in the frigid wind, sending a chill straight to the bone.

It was in this environment that Ning Qi regained consciousness.

“Did I... transmigrate?”

It wasn’t unreasonable for him to think so. One moment, he had been lying on a hospital bed, awaiting death, and in the next, he had turned from an adult into an infant, caught in what seemed to be a bloody vendetta.

That’s right.

Ning Qi was absolutely certain. He had become a newborn baby, wrapped in swaddling clothes. The warmth dulled the discomfort of his fragile body, and regardless of the circumstances, it was already far better than his previous life.

In his last life, he had developed a rare form of ALS at a young age. His final years were spent in a hospital bed, his life ending in darkness and solitude.

“At least I’m alive... though the situation isn’t looking good.”

Perhaps because of the transmigration, Ning Qi could clearly understand the meanings hidden in the voices.

He could hear those murderous cries cutting through the air, causing the woman carrying him to tremble slightly as she ran with all her strength. Ning Qi began to feel nervous. If given the choice, who would want to die again just after starting a new life?

He struggled to open his eyes, but there was still dried discharge clinging to his eyelids.

From his angle, he couldn’t see the woman’s face, but even the sight of her delicate, snow-white chin radiated a warmth that soothed the heart. Ning Qi seemed to sense a bond between them, as if their blood resonated together.

“Is she my mother in this life?”

Just as that thought formed in his mind, the young woman burst into a study, then quickly tapped a hidden mechanism in a particular rhythm. A secret compartment opened.

She bent down and gently placed Ning Qi inside.

In the dim light, Ning Qi finally saw the outline of her face clearly.

She had a delicate, comforting beauty. Her brows and eyes overflowed with gentleness. As a new mother, the radiance of her maternal instinct was enough to make the heart tremble.

Her weak and sorrowful voice rang out:

“Qi’er, you must live. I must join your father in facing the enemy. If some immortal or deity blesses you... don’t blame us in the future.”

Ning Qi felt warm lips press against his forehead, and a few teardrops fell onto his face. The reluctance in her gentle eyes was almost tangible.

Then, she resolutely turned away. The mechanism clicked, and darkness swallowed Ning Qi once more.

A thread of sorrow welled up in his heart.

Though he had only just transmigrated, the resonance of blood could not be faked. This was his birth mother. Even in their brief time together, he could feel her love and protection.

But now, the chances of survival looked slim.

Her voice had been weak, giving birth and immediately heading into battle meant things were dire. The identity of their enemy was unknown, but they had clearly chosen this precise moment to strike. Like vipers slithering from the shadows, they would not let this opportunity pass.

To be thrown into such peril right after transmigrating, Ning Qi’s nerves were stretched taut.

He didn’t want to die, not like this.

He began listening carefully.

The thick walls of the compartment muffled most of the noise, but he could still hear the sounds of battle growing closer. The clash of metal and the deafening roars were constant.

From this, Ning Qi gleaned two facts:

First, the martial strength in this world was undoubtedly high.

Second, this Snow Plum Manor, his place of birth, was on the brink of collapse.

His heart sank lower and lower.

“What should I do? If the enemy slaughters everyone, can I really avoid being discovered?”

Though he was now relatively safe in the hidden compartment, what if the enemy could sense his breathing or detect the slightest movement?

In such a world of overwhelming power, Ning Qi dared not take chances.

He tried his best to reduce any motion within the swaddle and to quiet his breathing.

Yet anxiety still gnawed at him.

Especially when the shouting died down, replaced by the sound of hurried footsteps, doors being kicked open, and people pleading for their lives, his unease intensified. He had a terrible feeling he would be discovered. That they would find him.

He knew... Snow Plum Manor was finished.

His birth parents were likely doomed as well.

But there was no time for sorrow. The overwhelming sense of danger left no room for grief.

“Search! Search thoroughly!”

“Don’t miss a single corner! Leave no survivors!”

“Especially the child of Ning Ye and Jiang Xuemei, find him! Cut the grass, root and everything!”

That deep, malicious voice made Ning Qi’s heart pound wildly.

He desperately tried to stay still, to remain silent but the instinctual reactions of an infant's body were beyond his control.

“What do I do? What do I do?”

Ning Qi’s mind spun wildly, scrambling for a way to survive.

Right now, he was nothing more than a powerless infant, he couldn’t even move let alone escape. The only thing he could do was try his utmost not to be discovered. If he was found, it would mean certain death.

At that moment, the world suddenly fell silent.

It was as if light and time had lost all meaning.

Ning Qi felt his consciousness slip into a mysterious state, as though he was omnipotent, able to grasp all things.

But the sensation lasted only a fleeting instant, and then the world returned to chaos.

Then, a flash of spiritual light streaked through his mind.

In that instant, Ning Qi understood what had happened. His transmigration, his rebirth in a new life, somehow it had triggered something extraordinary. He now felt his thoughts brimming with brilliance, his comprehension had reached an unimaginably terrifying level!

That divine light illuminated all his past lives and present one, and he came to understand, this was his hundredth lifetime. The ninety-nine lives before had all been filled with suffering. And even the beginning of this hundredth one was the same, nothing but hardship.

“A hundred lives of torment… even the heavens can’t bear to watch anymore, and now they’re granting me a divine gift?”

Ning Qi was stunned.

Then came overwhelming joy.

He hadn’t forgotten the danger surrounding him, and without hesitation, began to meditate.

That divine light slowly faded, but it left him with crystal clarity: his current level of comprehension was the absolute maximum his infantile lifeform could withstand, unmatched by anyone else.

“In other words, within the limits of my current life stage, my comprehension has reached the limit of what I can bear. No one can match me. And in the future, as my life force grows stronger, my comprehension will also stay at its absolute peak!”

“This is what it means to have maxed-out comprehension! No matter when, no matter where, it’s always at the maximum level!”

A rush of elation surged through Ning Qi.

This might be his ray of hope!

He could feel his thoughts running faster than ever before. With every passing notion, countless new ideas were born, this was a miracle far beyond mortal understanding.

“Maxed-out comprehension is amazing, but it can’t make me a peerless powerhouse in an instant. My top priority is still to survive this crisis!”

Previously, Ning Qi had no control over his breathing or heartbeat. But now it was different, he could clearly sense the state of his own body and discern its rhythms.

Outside, the chaos grew louder.

Ning Qi’s thoughts raced at lightning speed.

“In my past life, I once heard of a state where one breathes without using the nose or mouth, like a fetus in the womb. It’s called fetal breathing.”

“I’ve just been born. My body hasn't yet been fully tainted by the outside world. Occasionally, I might be able to enter that state. I couldn’t sense it before but now it’s different. I can not only sense it, I can find its patterns and even control it…”

“The faint, warm current flowing through my body, is that the innate qi of a newborn? Amazing… If I can guide it to circulate in a specific rhythm and gather it within, keeping it from dispersing, this warmth will intensify and protect my fragile body!”

“…"

As thoughts flowed one after another, Ning Qi quickly grasped that mysterious state and went a step further, merging it with his innate qi.

In just moments, his previously erratic heartbeat and breathing evened out, becoming faint until they vanished completely!

If Ning Qi were to close his eyes at this moment, one might easily mistake him for a lifeless infant.

A gleam of joy flashed in Ning Qi’s eyes.

“I’ll call this breathing technique the Innate Fetal Breathing Art.”

This wasn’t some mighty martial technique, just an internal breathing method rooted in the unique state of a newborn. But with the support of innate qi, it was nothing short of miraculous.

Ning Qi began fully operating his newly created Innate Fetal Breathing Art.

In that moment, as the warm current circulated within him, even with his mouth and nose sealed shut, he felt no discomfort. His pores subtly opened and closed, replacing conventional breathing. Even the hunger that had grown stronger by the second was now mostly gone.

It was truly wondrous.

And the persistent unease that had haunted Ning Qi began to subside significantly.

Having entered the fetal breathing state, his perception became remarkably sharp, he could clearly hear everything happening outside.

Footsteps echoed in chaotic clusters. More than once, people entered the study he was hidden in. He could hear the clash of blades, explosive impacts, someone was destroying everything with brute force.

He guessed it must be sword qi or blade qi or similar, his heart trembled in fear.

Fortunately, the Snow Plum Manor was large, and the study he had been hidden in was inconspicuous. As long as no trace was revealed, this place wasn’t treated as a priority.

Instead, several servants who had hidden themselves were discovered and slaughtered on the spot.

On the rooftop of Snow Plum Manor.

A burly man in black frowned deeply. His left hand clutched his shoulder, where a gruesome sword wound lay. With his right hand, he occasionally unleashed blasts of sword qi, splitting entire buildings in half with ease. Though a few stragglers were found this way, the method was far too inefficient.

And more importantly, he had yet to find a single trace of Ning Ye’s son.

Frustration boiled in his chest.

One by one, other black-clad men gathered from all directions and respectfully reported:

“Lord Feng, we’ve searched every possible spot. Not a single sound. We even carefully scanned each corner but there wasn’t even a baby’s cry or heartbeat. Could it be that…”

Before the subordinate could finish, Lord Feng waved his hand to cut him off, his voice cold as frost:

“Impossible!”

“Jiang Xuemei just gave birth. I killed both her and Ning Ye myself. There’s no way the child could’ve been taken away so quickly!”

His eyes gleamed with murderous intensity. He unleashed another flurry of sword qi in frustration, his figure leaping around the manor at breakneck speed, yet he still couldn’t sense even a hint of a baby’s presence.

At last, Lord Feng gave a sinister sneer.

“Quite good at hiding, aren't you!”

“Set the place on fire! Burn Snow Plum Manor to the ground!”
