Chapter 6: Grand Ambition
News of the Spirit Link had started spreading throughout the inner sect. Some of the elders had learned about the magical device.
However, they did not think too much of the Spirit Link and Spirit Relay Hub. To them, it was no different from the voice transmission talisman.
The young disciples, however, did not share the elders' sentiments. They rushed to place orders with Zhao Tian.
Inside the Refining Hall, Mao Jin wore a solemn expression as he created the Spirit Link. It was an arduous process, but he could not complain.
He thought of the new mission and couldn't help but sigh.
[New Mission]
[Objective (1): Earn 50,000 Spirit Stones in one week.]
[Reward: 2,000 IP]
[Objective (2): Within one week, spread your influence throughout the inner sect. The greater your influence, the higher your reward.]
[Reward: ??]
The first mission could be achieved if he worked hard, but the second one was giving him a headache. How could he increase his influence throughout the inner sect?
The inner sect contained elders, disciples, attendants, and servants. Spreading his influence among the disciples was easy, but for the others, he would have to think deeply.
For the next two days, Mao Jin did nothing but refine Spirit Links and Spirit Relay Hubs while Zhao Tian happily sold them.
Now, everyone in the inner court knew Zhao Tian was selling an ancient artifact, and with each passing day, more people were requesting it.
On the third day, Mao Jin called Zhao Tian inside the Refining Hall, his face showing exhaustion.
"Senior Brother, I think you should take a break," Zhao Tian said, looking at Mao Jin's haggard face.
"I will, but that's not why I called you," Mao Jin said in a solemn tone.
"What do you think of our sales?" he asked, staring at Zhao Tian.
"Senior Brother, our sales have been impressive so far. Besides, I quite enjoy selling the Spirit Link and Spirit Relay Hub—it lets me brag," he responded with a laugh.
"But have you thought about selling them to everyone in the sect and even beyond?" Mao Jin asked with a shrewd smile.
Zhao Tian's smile faltered for a moment as he processed Mao Jin's words. As the grandson of a Supreme Elder, he did not lack spirit stones.
He had only been selling the Spirit Link and Spirit Relay Hub as a hobby and had never considered scaling their business to reach the entire sect.
He couldn't help but suck in a cold breath, his heart pounding with excitement and anticipation.
Just then, he heard Mao Jin's voice.
"Zhao Tian, you must not limit your thinking to the sect alone. You must see beyond the sect. Imagine if our pavilion dominated the entire region."
"Others might think it's impossible, but I know it's possible with the help of the Spirit Link and Relay Hub."
The more he spoke, the more fervent he became. His voice was filled with great ambition—intoxicating, to say the least.
Zhao Tian's eyes sparkled with excitement.
But Mao Jin wasn't done. He knew that if he wanted to fully convince this fatty, he needed to present an irresistible opportunity and a grand ambition.
"Zhao Tian, what do you think of the Spirit Link?" he asked but didn't wait for a response before continuing.
"Many think it's just like a voice transmission talisman, but they're wrong," he said seriously. "It's far more than that."
Zhao Tian stared at Mao Jin, waiting eagerly for him to continue. His blood boiled with exhilaration.
"The Spirit Link is just the first model. In the next version, it will allow multiple people to talk to each other at the same time. Also, it won't be limited to the sect alone."
"Just imagine, one hundred people communicating simultaneously, no matter where they are, even beyond the sect!"
"Ah! Is that even possible?" Zhao Tian exclaimed, his eyes filled with disbelief.
"Why wouldn't it be? In less than a month, I'll show you," Mao Jin said confidently.
Zhao Tian was dumbfounded. He wanted to call it a bluff, but looking at the confident expression on Mao Jin's face, he hesitated.
After all, Mao Jin was the creator of the Spirit Link. Who better to understand its capabilities than its inventor?
With that thought, Zhao Tian could barely control his erratic breathing. His eyes shone with zeal and determination.
He had decided—he would follow Mao Jin in this business to the end.
"Senior Brother, I've decided to follow you from now on. Just tell me what I need to do!" He slapped his chest and spoke solemnly.
A deep smile appeared on Mao Jin's face. He had accomplished his first goal. Now, onto the next phase.
"Good. You've made the right decision," he said casually, though inwardly, he was delighted.
"Our first goal is to dominate the inner court within a week. No, in five days. Everyone in the inner court must be using our product. Do you think you can make that happen?"
"That's a simple task. As long as we have enough Spirit Links and Relay Hubs, I can do it," Zhao Tian said confidently.
"Hmm!" Mao Jin was surprised. He hadn't expected Zhao Tian to have such wide connections.
Without realizing it, a shrewd smile curled at the corner of his lips.
"Haha. I knew you could do it. Good." He stood up and patted Zhao Tian's shoulder. "Don't worry about the Spirit Links and Spirit Relay Hubs. I've already found a solution."
He quickly explained his plan, and a bright smile appeared on Zhao Tian's face.
As Zhao Tian walked away, Mao Jin let out a sigh of relief, his face filled with anticipation.
Meanwhile, in another part of the inner court, Deng Jie had gathered three disciples as they worked to reverse-engineer the Spirit Link and Relay Hub.
