Chapter 47: Rengoku Kyojuro Seeking Advice
"Haha, let's not talk about that for now," Kocho Shinobu said with a dismissive wave of her hand, signaling that the matter with Akihou would be addressed later.
Given the presence of outsiders, it was inappropriate to delve into private matters in front of everyone.
Turning her attention to Sanemi Shinazugawa, Butterfly Shinobu said with a sly smile, "Mr. Shinazugawa, do you still think it's beneath you to seek advice from Ren?"
"Now that everyone's here, you'd better ask quickly! If others start lining up for Ren's advice, you won't get a chance~"
Sanemi frowned deeply, irritation bubbling beneath the surface.
Why is it always me?!
When did I ever say I'd ask Ren for advice?!
This woman's heart is darker than my Nichirin Blade!
Still, Sanemi knew better than to argue openly. He cleared his throat and spoke in a serious tone, glancing at the group.
"I think Ren is talented, no doubt about it. But being talented doesn't necessarily make someone a good teacher."
He paused, letting his words sink in before continuing, "Take Himejima, for example. His talent is unparalleled, but even he struggled when it came to teaching others effectively.
"So, Ren still has a long way to go before he can be entrusted with teaching Hashira-level techniques. Only Hashira should teach other Hashira. Anything else would be overstepping the chain of command!"
The underlying message was clear: Sanemi had no intention of asking Ren for advice. His sharp tone and forceful reasoning left little room for rebuttal.
It would be humiliating for someone like him, a Wind Hashira, to seek guidance from a novice.
Kocho Shinobu, however, was unrelenting. She chuckled and teased, "Oh my, Mr. Shinazugawa, are you worried you won't understand Ren's teachings?"
"What nonsense are you spouting?!" Sanemi snapped, his temper flaring as he jumped up like a startled crow.
"I'm just emphasizing the Demon Slayer Corps' rules! Only Hashira can teach other Hashira!"
He pointed a finger at her and declared, "If Ren's teaching proves effective, then I'll consider asking him for advice. But until then, it's impossible!"
Butterfly Shinobu smiled mischievously, her tone dripping with mock sincerity.
"Ah, I see. It's such a pity then. There's nothing we can do if you're unwilling. Such a shame~ Such a shame~"
Her sing-song teasing made Sanemi's face turn red with frustration.
Before he could launch into a tirade, a powerful and energetic voice interrupted.
"That makes sense! I think what Sanemi said has some merit!"
The group turned to see none other than Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, striding confidently toward them. His arrival caught everyone off guard.
"Kyojuro?!" Sanemi exclaimed, his anger momentarily replaced by surprise.
Ren greeted the newcomer warmly, "Brother Rengoku! When did you get here?"
Kyojuro grinned, his voice booming with enthusiasm. "Hahaha! I've been here for a while. I saw the entire sparring session earlier. Ren, your movements were exceptional! You've improved again!"
"No, no, it was just luck," Ren said modestly, waving off the compliment.
Sanemi cut in impatiently, "Kyojuro, just now, you said you agreed with me. What did you mean by that?"
Kyojuro blinked, considering the question. "Oh, yes! I think you're right... but also wrong!"
Sanemi's brows furrowed in confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Kyojuro's expression turned serious as he addressed the group. "Sanemi is correct that teaching isn't easy, but I believe Ren has the strength and wisdom of a Hashira. He's more than capable of teaching others!"
The declaration stunned everyone. Coming from the Flame Hashira, such an endorsement carried immense weight.
Even Inosuke, who was being supported by Aoi Kanzaki, chimed in. "No wonder I lost! Ren is already on the level of a Hashira! That makes me the second strongest! Wahaha!"
Sanemi's eyes widened in disbelief. "Kyojuro, what are you saying? Do you realize what this implies?!"
Kyojuro simply smiled. "Sanemi, I've seen enough to know that Ren's strength is undeniable. If you're hesitant to ask him for advice, that's your choice. But as for me..."
He turned to Ren and bowed slightly.
"I've come here today to seek your guidance."
The group fell into stunned silence.
Kocho Shinobu covered her mouth to hide a giggle, while Sanemi's face turned an even deeper shade of red.
"You... you've got to be joking!" Sanemi stammered. "Kyojuro, you're a Hashira! What could you possibly learn from him?"
Kyojuro ignored Sanemi's protests and said earnestly, "Ren, your perspective is unique, and your techniques are remarkable. I'd be honored to learn from you."
