In DxD: Reborn As a Gamer

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Prologue!

Ophis yawned awake from something strange.

Her small hands rubbed at her groggy eyes as her silent yawn was met by the silence of the Dimensional Gap.

Gradually rousing from her sleep, she found that she was still in her favourite form, mainly due to how comfy it was to sleep in: that of a small and young girl barely out of her childhood. Her eyebrows furrowed as she absentmindedly combed her silky black and thin hair laid in disarray with her fingers.

Something odd was about to happen, it was the same feeling that roused her from her sleep.

Ophis looked around for the disturbance as she fixed her clothes that had shifted in her deep slumber. The simple scraps of black cloth wrapping around her body loosely, they barely covered over her thin and smooth peachy waist; the important bit below being covered, and then it zigzagged all the way to her chestal region. At least, the sensitive pink tips of this form were still covered by the onyx wraps.

Across the countless millennia, mortals and immortals called her the Dragon God, the being that represented Infinity itself and often praised as the strongest being that ever existed; even as she languidly slumbered in the pure silence of the Dimensional Gap, which was how she wished she could spend the rest of eternity.

The Dimensional Gap should have been exactly just that, a gap that exists between three worlds; a gap filled with endless land and most importantly, silence. It should have been a realm void of any wars, of any sound, and of any event. Pure silence, just as she preferred… but for some reason, it was not so silent now.

And the long forgotten spark of displeasure pricked at her heart.

In a usual decade, she would lay in slumber until she had grown hungry or yearned for entertainment; and as such, she was not expected to be awoken until many years, but it seemed like her dream would soon be crushed.

With wide eyes, she sat up from her drows; the feeling of grogginess all but vanished as a large silver like beam shot across the dimensional gap, a few indescribable words appeared in the heart of Ophis as she stared at the beam.

Unstoppable! Invincible!

As if influenced by an outside force, a black slithering serpent like being wrapped around the beam; tightening around it, the ray of silver light began to flicker under the force until the serpent itself flickered out existence soon after.

The gray streak was but of a shell of its former self, thinner and duller; it almost seemed as if it would vanish from the world as its form began to grow incorporeal.

An awe-shocking sight, even to a Dragon God such as herself, appeared before her eyes. A golden halo began to hover above the beam of silver, much to her confusion it disintegrated and began to merge into the beam.

The previously flickering and dissipating form vanished, it slowly began to show signs of regaining stability as it only grew larger; and it showed no signs of stopping any time soon.

The beam became too gigantic to be able to describe, perhaps the body of Great Red would be able to measure up to it.

Speaking of the large oversized red lizard; he himself flew around the vast and endless gap, his slitted irises gazing at the beam with wariness and caution, even he himself would rather not disturb it if he could help it.

The large beam began to show signs of instability, it was akin to a large raging river that spanned across Heaven and Earth; the faintest traces of fear appeared in the hearts of the two dragons that viewed the scene.

Crossing the dimension with unseen before speed; it started to give a low hiss, akin to a threatening serpent watching its prey, the sound was enough to tremble the Dimensional Gap. It was a deep rooted fear that has existed since their creation; their entire nerves and instincts shouted at their bodies to run, and yet they held their ground as they both glared at the beam.

Almost as if seeing them resist, the hissing stopped as the beam continued on its path.

Despite all attempts to stop the beam, they were futile as the large ray of silver light that was the beam seemingly vanished. Almost as if its job and goal has been completed.

Ophis stood there in wonder, her emotionless and dead eyes shifting into confusion as she softly shook her head; there wasn't any need to think about it, she wanted to sleep… to revel in utter silence. But that was denied to her as the booms and shouts of the great True Dragon echoed out in the gap; it was akin to millions of thunderclaps to the sensitive ears of Ophis, glaring lightly, the floor cracked as her shallow anger was exuded.

Just when will she have her silence? Will another deafening beam appear again? Will the damn lizard keep on shouting and roaring? She dearly hoped both weren't true.

Floating up in the air, she took off and flew into the distance of where the beam vanished; maybe… maybe, maybe it was silent wherever it went?

She could only hope.

….

Any normal human would've been confused, the stupidity of the situation causing them to go into insanity or for their heads to explode, like some poorly made movie.

Congratulations! You've been assassinated!

Instead, I opted for a frown. I wasn't the religious type, only choosing to be so for the public recognition and abusing such a thing to my advantage. But if I indeed was, then I would most definitely would've thought that I was being sent to hell or whatever other religion equivalent to eternal damnation existed.

Rather, I spent most of my time floating adrift in a black void where- all of a sudden- big bold and white highlighted letters appeared before me, with a cold female voice to boot.

Ah shoot, what I meant to say was. Congrats! You've been chosen to be the host of the Gamer System!

"Gamer...system?"

Oh crap...
