Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Gaal... Picking Up Demons
In the distant forest, roots continuously sprouted from the ground, weaving together like a massive net, enclosing the center of the battlefield from all directions.
Azuma, with half of his body blended into the trees, stood atop the sea of trees, advancing towards the center, while Kain Hikaru was nowhere to be seen.
Nearby, perched on a branch beside Azuma, sat the demon Franmalth, clutching his chest. The sea of trees carried the two toward the battlefield's center.
However, by now it was evident that he was already terrified out of his mind, as he continuously cursed at Azuma: "Damn humans! Get out of here! Is that person an Angel?! Do you know what an Angel is?! Get out fast!"
Azuma frowned, glancing at Franmalth. It baffled him how a demon could be so cowardly. He explained once more, albeit slightly annoyed: "It's all fake. It's that kid using Illusion Magic to create false images."
Franmalth became furious, pointing at Azuma with rage: "Idiot! You're the fake one! Try getting stabbed by him and see for yourself whether it's real or not!"
The foolish human, but it was he who got stabbed. That near-death experience and Light aura, how could it possibly be fake!
Azuma's jaw clenched slightly. "What a useless... fool."
Ignoring Franmalth, he continued to control the sea of trees, closing in on the center of the battlefield.
When it came to distance, Franmalth's voice wasn't loud; it could even be considered faint.
However, since there were only a few individuals on the battlefield, all top-tier mages and powerful demons, Franmalth's words were as clear as if spoken directly into their ears.
In front of Gaal, lying on the ground, was Kyoka.
Her body was twitching, clearly still recovering from the residual effects of Pain Intensity Magic. Meanwhile, she could hear Franmalth's outcry.
Kyoka's expression darkened instantly as she spoke through gritted teeth: "That... idiot...."
This was guild-level confidential information, shouted out like that. She could already envision the wrath of the Guild Master at Tartaros.
Azuma might be an ally of the Dark Guild, and letting Gaal Brons know...
Cases like Grimoire Heart's were still fresh.
Sure enough, hearing Franmalth's words, Gaal's face broke into a mysterious smile as he looked at the uneasy face of Kyoka: "I see, so you can revive, huh. That thing is called Hell's Core? No doubt, it's the most mysterious Dark Guild on the Ishgar Continent. It seems we ought to spread this, letting the mages of the Ishgar Continent brainstorm a bit.
And moreover... A guild entirely composed of demons, using not Magic but rather unpredictable curse spells; everyone needs to be cautious. Let me guess... Your curse spell is enhancement magic, right? You can strengthen yourself, transform into a demon, perform Sensory Deprivation, and your claws can extend as whips…"
With each sentence Gaal said, Kyoka's complexion worsened.
It wasn't just her; it included Seilah and Tempester, whom Gaal didn't spare, either, as he broadly described their abilities.
Even Franmalth, who had gotten stabbed once, didn't escape Gaal's insights: "And that one-eyed yellow demon, it's an absorption ability, isn't it? t can absorb Magic Power; I've firsthand experienced that. Additionally, Gengar mentioned sensing a predator-like threat from that one-eyed demon. The Soul, perhaps?"
Kyoka was dumbstruck, staring at Gaal in disbelief. It was understandable that their skills were uncovered after fighting Gaal, but to deduce even Franmalth's ability to absorb souls from just one stab?
This was the first time Kyoka felt fear toward a human.
No wonder the Hades saw his potential rivaling Wizard King August. It wasn't just his Magic Talent but also this frightening intellect...
Given this...
Kyoka looked over to the other side: "Tempester!"
Tempester responded with firm resolve, "I know."
Then, his body began to emit a purple glow, transforming into a misty explosion, like a muffled bomb. Purple particles instantly spread.
This was Tempester's self-destruct move. Using the last bits of strength to self-destruct, set 'Curse Particles' to spread and pollute the city.
Once inhaled excessively, it leads to instant death. If unleashed in a town, it would poison all its inhabitants swiftly.
Tempester acted quickly. Almost in the moment Kyoka shouted, he initiated self-destruction.
The closest, Kyoka and Seilah, inhaled the most. The two demons didn't resist, allowing Curse Particles to invade their bodies continuously. They could both be revived via Hell's Core, so they feared not death.
If their bodies could also be brought back, the revival would be smoother, and their powers wouldn't wane.
Revival might decrease some strengths, but that was unavoidable since they surely couldn't take their bodies back with them.
Kyoka's breath gradually became labored. Glaring at Gaal with a harsh glint, her rasping voice broke intermittently: "Despicable... human... If by any luck you survive…. next time... It will... be your death..."
Kyoka didn't really expect Curse Particles to eliminate Gaal. But if it hindered Gaal's actions, it was enough.
Azuma was already advancing, and along with that vast Magic Power still underground, however they fought, was their concern.
Reaching this point, they had no further reason to continue. Once revived, she planned to urge Hades, making a foolproof preparation before targeting this guy once more.
Even if Tartaros mustered all forces, bringing several space-locking wards, they would spare no expense to eliminate Gaal Brons...
With a thud, Seilah's body collapsed, breathing no more. Kyoka was also at her limit, collapsing to the ground. Her vision was getting blurry.
Gaal, in his black Magic robe, came closer. A mocking smirk appeared on Kyoka's lips, so typical of human inferiority. They'd even advance to humiliate a dying foe.
Watching Gaal approach, Kyoka mustered her final bit of strength, intending to taunt Gaal.
Only for Gaal to bend down, grabbing the pale calf of Seilah, lifting her up and nodding appreciatively: "Truly excellent (for replenishing Essence) material."
Two complete demon corpses for free, what a chance!
Kyoka was startled to silence.
What is this human doing?
Watching as Gaal swung the lifeless body of Seilah back and forth, Kyoka's mental chord named 'rationality' snapped entirely: "Bastard... hum....!!!"
Before she could finish the word, she was so maddened she died...
