In Frieren as a 1000 years old Demon

Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - I Will Spend the Rest of My Life Teaching Him What 'Love' Means

"Was that brief burst of magic just now from Seri Ai?"

Agusheed had noticed Frieren spying very early on.

But then, suddenly sensing another powerful magic presence beside Frieren, Agusheed asked Furame, who was in front of him near his chest:

"Furame, did she come here because of you?"

After another perfect step in their dance, Furame softly replied:

"Yes, my master has a magic guidebook that I happen to need, so I called her over."

Agusheed's face showed surprise, though he quickly regained his composure.

Still, he couldn't help but be amazed:

"Incredible... she came just because of that?"

After a twirl, Furame's slender figure leaned tightly against Agusheed's chest as she slightly raised her head.

Her face wore the usual smile.

"My master spoils her disciple. Isn't that quite normal?"

As they parted with the rhythm of their dance, Agusheed took her hand again and pulled her back in front of him.

He shook his head at Furame:

"Normal?"

"You say that so easily, Furame."

"In just a few decades, you changed that old immortal whose mind was filled only with killing and war—"

"Indeed, you are the human most likely to help me regain my emotions."

Old immortal—

Hearing that term, Furame couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Unintentionally, she stepped on Agusheed's foot again.

"If Seri Ai hears that, she'll kill you."

Without denying it, Agusheed seriously looked at Furame in front of him.

"You would stop her, right?"

Although it was a question, Agusheed's tone was full of certainty.

"After all, if you weren't here, I would have fled the moment I sensed her magic."

"Did she nearly killing you leave that deep an impression?"

Curious about Agusheed's caution toward Seri Ai, Furame asked.

"Why wouldn't it?"

"We demons are the species that value our own lives above all else..."

As he spoke, Agusheed wrapped his arms around Furame's waist with the dance's finale.

"You should know, in five hundred years, other than His Majesty the Demon King, only she made me think, 'Fighting this person will get me killed.'"

The long dance ended, and before Furame could continue the topic—

Their gazes simultaneously turned toward Seri Ai and Frieren.

At this moment, Seri Ai's immense magic power was unleashed without concealment, recklessly soaring to the sky.

Within the shockwaves of that magic, Agusheed sensed a faint but unmistakable killing intent.

"Her magic is as exaggerated as ever."

"But why does she suddenly harbor such strong hostility toward me?"

Guessing the reason, Furame shook her head.

"Who knows..."

"By the way, I'm going to see my master. Will you come with me?"

At these words, Agusheed refused Furame's invitation without hesitation.

"No, thanks..."

He stared at the chilling magic:

"I have a bad feeling that if I go now, something terrifying will happen."

Although rejected, Furame seemed to have expected it.

"In that case, see you tomorrow."

...

"See you tomorrow?"

After personally placing the wedding gift Furame requested in her letter into her hand, Seri Ai—

Expressionless—watched Furame, who took the magic guidebook and immediately turned to leave.

"To say such heartless words to the teacher you haven't seen in ten years—"

"You're really not cute at all now... Furame."

Waving her hand, Seri Ai cast the magic to levitate objects—

Furame, who did not resist with magic, was immediately lifted off the ground.

Seri Ai: (=ω=)

Furame (罒ω罒)

Watching Frieren: (•ɷ•)

"Well, well... that's because..."

Furame was about to argue with Seri Ai, but Seri Ai had no intention of listening.

The letter Furame had personally written to Seri Ai slowly floated up.

Seri Ai almost pressed the parchment against Furame's face.

"Furame, explain—"

"What does this mean—'Master, do you have time to attend my wedding?

Note: Remember to bring a wedding gift—a copy of the Sage Evisch's Magic Guidebook.'"

Almost having the parchment pasted all over her face, Furame stammered:

"That... is... just the literal meaning—"

Before she could finish, Seri Ai's eyes narrowed, and the parchment fully covered Furame's face.

Seri Ai beckoned, floating Furame to just the height where Seri Ai, standing on the stone platform, could tap her head.

Then—

Knock, knock, knock—

Three consecutive bumps on Furame's head, Seri Ai took the parchment away.

Looking at Furame, who was still trying to talk her way out, Seri Ai sighed heavily.

"Marriage..."

"Honestly, Furame, I do not oppose you, a short-lived being, pursuing that laughable thing called 'love' in my eyes."

"But—why is the object of your 'love'..."

Seri Ai felt an indescribable weariness, placing her hand on her only disciple's head.

She questioned:

"Furame... do you know how absurd your idea is?"

Furame stopped trying to dodge the issue.

She knew Seri Ai was serious now...

But for Seri Ai's words, she silently nodded.

Boom—

Surging and overwhelming magic burst forth from Seri Ai once again.

Under Frieren and Furame's gaze,

The world's strongest Grand Mage, Seri Ai, who has survived since the Age of Gods—

At this moment, was furious:

"'Love'?"

"Love whom?"

"A demon without emotions?"

"Can he understand the feelings you have for him?"

"Does he comprehend the meaning behind your actions?"

"Your short life is but a blink of an eye to him."

Seri Ai grabbed Furame's face and forcefully pulled it to the sides—

"Even if you love him, does he love you?"

"He probably doesn't even know how to spell the word 'love'?!"

"After you die, at most a hundred years..."

"No, maybe fifty or eighty years, and he will forget everything about you—"

Furame finally spoke, interrupting Seri Ai's anger.

Without any anger or discouragement—

Smiling as always:

"He won't forget me, not even after a thousand years."

"What?"

Seri Ai was stunned by this confidence from Furame, not knowing where it came from.

"Heh—"

"Furame... even I can't guarantee I'll remember you after a thousand years.

You actually believe a demon without emotions can do that?"

Recalling everything the person in front of the Goddess Monument in the Kino Mountains told her...

Furame smiled with full confidence:

"I believe—"

"And I believe Seri Ai, you won't forget me either."

Embarrassed by the sudden flattery from her disciple, Seri Ai turned her head away.

Her anger had largely dissipated but she still retorted mercilessly:

"You believe? Believe in a demon? How ridiculous..."

"I believe."

Sensing Seri Ai's anger had mostly faded, Furame snapped her fingers.

She dispelled the levitation magic and landed, facing Seri Ai with a frown.

"Because I will make him love me."

Furame placed her hands on her hips.

Just as confidently as when she stood proudly before Seri Ai in childhood, declaring her dream that everyone could learn magic:

"I, Grand Mage Furame, will spend the rest of my life teaching him what 'love' means—"
