Chapter 96: Chapter 95

"Does using this thing have any side effects?" Feitan asked, his eyes fixed on the Doctor's Kit until Morin put it away.

Evidently, Feitan recognized the immense value of such a medical tool for the Phantom Troupe.

"There aren't any side effects, but the supply of healing liquid is limited. Refilling it could be troublesome," Morin explained.

The Doctor's Kit, despite its incredible capabilities, was originally a 22nd-century toy for children to play doctor. The healing liquid it dispensed had a finite quantity.

In the original version, Nobita once flaunted the kit while playing barefoot doctor, earning a lot of attention. However, after treating a series of injuries, the healing liquid ran out just as Shizuka came to him for help.

Although the liquid was depleted, Nobita still tried to convince Shizuka to undress for treatment, claiming it was necessary.

Just as Shizuka began lifting her shirt, Doraemon returned and instinctively exclaimed:

"The healing liquid is all used up..."

And then... well, there's not much more to say.

Let's just say it's a miracle that Nobita managed to marry Shizuka in the future.

"The healing liquid is all used up..."

And then... well, there's not much more to say.

Let's just say it's a miracle that Nobita managed to marry Shizuka in the future.

"Not much healing liquid left?"

Hearing this, Feitan felt a tinge of disappointment as he mentally crossed out all the extreme strategies he had been imagining.

Still, alongside the disappointment, there was a sense of relief.

It made sense—something this powerful had to come with limitations.

Feitan decided to conserve the remaining liquid, saving it for critical moments when it could be used to save teammates.

With that thought, Feitan glanced at Phinks, who was lying on the beach in a starfish pose, and couldn't help but kick him twice on his long legs.

This idiot. Always causing trouble.

Wasting something so valuable.

Might as well let him die.

At that moment, the importance of the healing liquid had even surpassed Feitan's fondness for his reckless partner.

Of course, grumbling aside, Feitan wouldn't leave Phinks unattended.

After all, his life had been saved.

Feitan casually dumped Phinks on a nearby rock and then found a spot to sit, turning his attention to Shalnark and Kortopi.

Feitan had been acting alongside Phinks and wasn't familiar with the newer members Shalnark and Kortopi.

"Hello."

"Yo."

The three exchanged an awkward greeting, staring at one another.

With Feitan and Phinks now present, seven members of the Phantom Troupe were gathered.

Three of them were new members.

The remaining six had yet to arrive, including Machi, Uvogin, Nobunaga, and Franklin, as well as two other newcomers. But they would be here soon.

Morin, rather than returning to Pakunoda's side, turned his gaze toward a specific direction.

"Hm?"

The others gradually noticed Morin's unusual behavior.

Though they didn't know why, they all instinctively heightened their aura and looked toward where Morin's attention was focused.

Soon, under their watchful eyes, a tall and slender figure appeared on the horizon, moving swiftly in their direction.

"I didn't expect to be discovered so quickly."

The voice came before the person.

It was deep and magnetic, like a polite gentleman greeting someone warmly.

When the figure finally arrived, his appearance matched his voice—a man resembling a European aristocrat, though his features were leaner and more delicate.

His pale skin gave the impression of someone who had lived without sunlight, reminiscent of a vampire.

His distinct features included a lip piercing on the left side, a spider tattoo with the number "4" on his right palm, and bandages wrapped around his left hand.

He had long silver-gray hair, not unlike Kite's, and wore black clothing with white trim. His tall and thin frame exuded an air of gloom, lowering the temperature of the surrounding atmosphere upon his arrival.

Feitan and Pakunoda immediately noticed the spider tattoo and number on his hand, confirming that he was a new member they had yet to meet.

Both instinctively glanced at Chrollo, who was calmly reading a book once again.

"This is our puppeteer, Omokage," Chrollo said, barely lifting his eyes.

At this, Feitan and Pakunoda nodded lightly, their stances less defensive.

However, the occasional flicker of wariness in their eyes showed that they didn't completely trust this newcomer.

It was understandable. Omokage's aura was strange and unsettling.

Unlike the rest of the Phantom Troupe—who, though ruthless and indifferent to societal norms, still had personalities that meshed—Omokage came across as unhinged, with a faint air of madness.

Pakunoda and the others didn't mind eccentric personalities among new members.

But if someone's extreme behavior posed a potential threat to their teammates or the Troupe itself, that was a different matter entirely.

Morin, too, observed the newcomer marked with the number "4."

"Omokage... the one who appears calm but is, in reality, a deranged lunatic."

Morin had noticed earlier that someone was observing them from a distance.

If Gon and Killua could sense far-off gazes in Greed Island's open fields, then it was no challenge for Morin to detect such attention.

Omokage, the previous Number 4 of the Phantom Troupe, was a character from the Hunter x Hunter movie Phantom Rouge.

Unlike other members who joined out of alignment with Chrollo's ideals, Omokage had his own agenda.

Later, when Hisoka sought to duel Chrollo, he challenged Omokage.

Conveniently, Omokage had already achieved his goal and faked his death using a puppet to escape, allowing Hisoka to take his place in the Troupe.

Omokage was a puppeteer whose objective was to collect puppets of the Troupe members.

He referred to himself as the "Puppeteer of God," and his Nen ability revolved around puppet creation.

His collection of Phantom Troupe puppets served a straightforward purpose: creating powerful puppets to enhance his own strength—a stereotypical villainous goal.

Omokage didn't care about the Phantom Troupe and never truly considered himself one of them.

Though born in Meteor City like the rest, he seemed to exist in a completely different world.

"I remember his ability is also in the Specialist category, called Soul Puppets."

Morin recalled information about Omokage:

"With this ability, he can create puppets resembling their original counterparts in appearance, abilities, and even memories.

"Although their power is only a fraction of the original, the puppets can use Nen and replicate the same combat techniques and experience."

"And within this main ability, there are two derivative abilities: [Soul Summon] and [Puppet Catcher].

In Nen abilities, it is possible to develop branch abilities based on the main ability.

For example, one of the protagonists, Kurapika, has a Conjuration-type ability called [Chain Jail].

Each chain corresponding to his fingers has a different branch ability, representing functions like tracking, judgment, healing, and more.

Even Chrollo has developed [Bookmark Chapter] as an extension of his [Skill Hunter] ability, allowing him to use Nen with both hands freed from holding the book.

Similarly, Omokage's two branch abilities enhance the power of his [Soul Puppets] ability.

[Soul Summon]

This ability allows a puppet to steal another person's eyes.

Originally, the puppet's eyes are just empty holes. However, by maintaining close eye contact with someone, the puppet can seize their eyes.

Once a puppet successfully steals someone's eyes, it transforms into a soul-bound puppet, vastly stronger than before.

If the puppet steals the eyes of its original counterpart, it can better emulate the original's full potential.

However, if the puppet is defeated, the stolen eyes return to their rightful owner.

[Puppet Catcher]

This ability allows Omokage to fuse a puppet with his own body, granting him access to the puppet's abilities, including its Nen capabilities.

Even if the puppet lacks eyes, it can still use Nen and transfer its abilities to Omokage when fused with him.

This ability seems powerful and has minimal apparent restrictions—merely requiring puppets and eyes.

Even eyeless puppets can provide Nen abilities, and Omokage can use these abilities after fusion.

On the surface, this ability appears more flexible and powerful than Chrollo's [Skill Hunter].

However, Omokage paid a significant price to master this Nen ability.

A crucial point is that Omokage, much like Illumi, harbors a disturbingly obsessive love and controlling nature toward his siblings.

Omokage happened to have a younger sister named Reizi, a sweet and endearing girl adored by everyone.

This fueled Omokage's extreme attachment, making him a severe "siscon."

He developed his puppet-related Nen abilities partly because of his natural talent for puppet-making and partly because of his sister.

Omokage's ultimate goal was to ensure that his beloved sister could achieve immortality, like a puppet.

Thus, he used his sister, Reizi, as the price for honing his Nen ability.

In essence, Omokage sacrificed his sister in a blood ritual born of his twisted love to gain his extraordinary powers.

When Omokage's ability was finally perfected, his sister had already passed away.

This duality of agony and ecstasy consumed him—grief over his sister's death mixed with the elation of creating a way for her to "live" again.

The first puppet Omokage created using [Soul Puppets] was none other than his sister, Reizi.

The puppet bore her exact appearance and characteristics and could even be imbued with her memories.

When the puppet of Reizi awakened with her memories intact, it seemed no different from the original.

To Omokage, this was perfection.

The real Reizi, whom he had killed, was gone without a trace.

The puppet lacked eyes, so to see the world, it required Omokage's eyes—or those of someone else.

However, Omokage's obsessive and selfish love prevented him from using anyone else's eyes for his sister.

He couldn't allow anyone else's essence to "taint" his beloved sibling, even if it was just their eyes.

By using his own eyes, Omokage could maintain absolute control over Reizi.

In this twisted way, Reizi existed as an immortal puppet with her memories intact, the ultimate result of Omokage's deranged affection.

The Tragedy of Obsession

However, no matter how realistic, a puppet is still just a puppet.

The real Reizi had long since died by Omokage's own hands.

And over time, Omokage's obsession grew. He sought even more powerful puppets...
