In This Life, I Will Extremely Pamper My Short-Lived Husband

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Still Treating You Well After Marriage

When everyone was ready to go in, Xie Yanchuan stopped, "You all go up first."

At his words, several people turned to look at Xie Yanchuan, as if asking what he meant by that.

Xie Yanchuan explained, "Uncle and the others are almost here; I'll wait for them here."

Before Xie Suian could say anything, Old Master Xie decisively made the call, "Let's all wait here."

Though Old Master Xie was an elder, today's occasion was different, and it was acceptable for him to stand and wait here.

So they all stood up straight in front of the hotel entrance, and about two or three minutes later, the Xu family's car arrived.

Xu Jinzhi and Xu Zhen, who were in the car, had already noticed the Xie family members waiting at the hotel entrance, and Xu Zhen's previously gloomy face brightened a bit.

Although it was a small gesture, it adequately demonstrated the importance the Xie family placed on Xu Jinzhi, and naturally, Xu Zhen was delighted.

As the vehicle stopped at the hotel entrance, Xu Jinzhi and Xu Zhen got out of the car, and the group began to exchange pleasantries.

When Xu Jinzhi locked eyes with Xie Yanchuan, she blinked at him, and Xie Yanchuan pursed his lips, as if he wanted to say something, but before he could speak, Xu Jinzhi had already turned to look at Old Master Xie.

"Grandpa, long time no see, how have you been?" Xu Jinzhi affectionately greeted him, her respect for Old Master Xie was genuine.

After all, Xie Yanchuan didn't receive much affection from his parents, and the limited concern he did receive came from Old Master Xie. Xie Yanchuan respected his grandfather, so naturally, Xu Jinzhi felt affection by association.

And Old Master Xie was genuinely pleased with Xu Jinzhi; he had always thought she would be with his eldest grandson and hadn't given it much thought beyond that.

But now that he knew she was going to marry Xie Yanchuan, Old Master Xie saw it as an increasingly good choice.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Old Master Xie said, "All right, let's go inside and sit down. We can talk more comfortably there."

Only then did the group head toward the hotel.

The Xie family had a stake in this hotel, so when Xie family members arrived, the hotel manager personally greeted them and escorted them upstairs, opening the private room door for everyone to enter.

Since there were elders present, as a younger member of the group, Xu Jinzhi naturally stayed behind a bit.

But as Xu Jinzhi entered and saw the exquisite bouquets on the dining table, she turned back to the server and instructed, "Please remove the flowers."

The server hadn't spoken yet when, puzzled, Xie Suian asked, "What's wrong with the flowers?"

Xu Jinzhi looked at her future father-in-law, unsure of how to explain, but aside from Xu Zhen's confused expression, everyone else looked at Xie Suian as if he were a fool.

He Shuying's eyes were unapologetically mocking; she accused him of not caring about Xie Yanchuan, and yet, he had even forgotten about Xie Yanchuan's allergy to pollen.

Xie Linchuan was also somewhat displeased, and his discontent wasn't just about this incident—it was also due to Xie Suian insisting on a marriage alliance between the Xie and Xu families.

Xie Linchuan felt a deep-seated guilt towards his brother, yet he didn't wish to marry Xu Jinzhi; furthermore, with matters having developed to this point, even if he wanted to back out, there was no chance.

As for Xie Xingchuan, he didn't particularly care, but he knew about his second brother's pollen allergy. After all, allergies were serious business; one lapse could be fatal!

That his father had forgotten such an important matter was definitely not acceptable.

Finally, Old Master Xie glared at Xie Suian and asked irritably, "What, you didn't know about Yanchuan's allergy to pollen?"

Xie Suian was taken aback, then quickly realized and said with a forced laugh, "Of course, I remember, I just suddenly forgot for a moment."

"Hmph!" Old Master Xie glared sidelong at his son, "You forget such important matters and you have the face to admit it."

Xie Suian, decisive and authoritative in the business world, couldn't argue back when faced with his own father's rebuke.

The private room grew quiet for a moment, and Old Master Xie didn't want any unpleasantness today that might make Xu Zhen feel like the Xie family was dissatisfied with the Xu family.

"Considering we're here to talk about a happy occasion, I can't be bothered to scold you," said Old Master Xie as he walked towards the dining table.

One by one, everyone took their seats, and when no one was looking, Xie Yanchuan glanced at Xu Jinzhi. There was an inexplicable feeling in his heart.

He usually wouldn't have an allergic reaction if he didn't come into contact, but it seemed Xu Jinzhi still remembered what she had said that day.

Sensing someone looking at him, Xie Yanchuan calmly withdrew his gaze as if nothing had happened, but his heart was not at peace.

That feeling of being cared for was truly unforgettable.

On the other side, Old Master Xie, representing the Xie family, had already begun discussing the marriage between the younger generations with Xu Zhen.

After all, this was a marriage alliance, and many matters had been agreed upon beforehand, so today's conversation was more of a formality before finalizing the arrangement.

After today, there would be a unified explanation for the public.

However, as one of the parties involved, Xu Jinzhi was using her phone to text Xie Yanchuan. She had noticed the way Xie Yanchuan had looked at her.

"See? I always do what I say!"

Initially, Xie Yanchuan didn't know the message was from Xu Jinzhi, as he rarely used social media and usually only received messages when someone needed him.

With nothing for him to say here, Yanchuan took out his phone, and only after opening it did he realize it was a message from Xu Jinzhi.

Before Xie Yanchuan had time to read what Xu Jinzhi sent, he instinctively looked up towards her.

There was Xu Jinzhi smiling at him, shaking her phone, clearly reminding him to check his messages.

Xie Yanchuan blinked, seemingly innocent, then looked down to check the message Xu Jinzhi had sent.

Reading what Xu Jinzhi had written reminded him of that incident, and after hesitating for a few seconds, he replied with a simple "Thank you."

Xu Jinzhi typed fast, and before Xie Yanchuan had the chance to put his phone away, he received another message from her.

"Don't worry, after we get married, I'll continue to treat you just as well."

At first, it seemed fine, but Xie Yanchuan felt something was a bit odd reading the message Xu Jinzhi sent.

But what was off?

Xu Jinzhi was saying she would continue to treat him well in the future; shouldn't that be a good thing?

"Are you free tomorrow night?"

While Xie Yanchuan was lost in thought, another message from Xu Jinzhi arrived.
