Chapter 24: Another Battle
Seeing Aiden's serious face left her with no choice. She took out a gold slip from her pants pocket and handed it to Aiden.
[Astralis Magical Academy Main Exam]
[Squad: 71]
[Name: Aiden Aswald]
[Number of gold plates: 3]
The status panel appeared just as Aiden received the gold plate from the woman. As a token of Aiden's gratitude, he handed her the HP potion he had gotten —Aiden didn't really need it.
"Even though you have no gold plate, you can still fight for yourself," Aiden explained.
"Why are you handing over this HP Potion? Don't you need it too?" the woman asked, and Aiden shook his head.
"I don't really need it," Aiden replied, simply.
Feeling the place was no longer safe for Aiden due to the appearance of the two squads, Aiden decided to walk away from it. The woman was still sitting there, confused about what she should do.
She looked to the side, outside the cave where she had taken shelter. Although the squad members' bodies had been teleported away, but not their blood.
'He can defeat a squad easily. He also seems to have been thrown out by his squad,' the woman explained.
'I have to help him, even if it kills me,' she said.
Aiden ran in the forest while keeping his guard up. Sometimes, he met with C-rank monsters blocking his way, they came in packs.
[Magi Element: Fire Ball]
The young man released fire magic from his hand and aimed the fireball forward. The fireball shot out and hit one of the three packs of coyotes.
[EXP +10]
'I get EXP points when I defeat one of them,' Aiden explained.
He was getting more and more excited. Aiden did not hesitate to recite the fireball magic spell for the next time to defeat the remaining two coyotes until all of them were defeated.
[EXP +20]
'This way, I've gained at least 30 EXP from my attempt to kill those three coyotes,' said Aiden.
Not only EXP, Aiden watched as shiny objects appeared on the ground, where the dead monsters had disappeared.
Aiden walked over to the three sparkling objects and picked them up, they were drop items from the monsters.
[Astralis Magical Academy Main Exam]
[Squad: 71]
[Name: Aiden Aswald]
[Number of gold plates: 3]
[Item:]
[2 Gem Peridot]
[1 Garnet Gem]
Peridot gems are gems for earth element mages, while Garnet gems are gems for fire element mages.
The uses of the gems varied according to the mage's needs, but for now, Aiden could use the gems to enhance his magic attributes temporarily.
"I'll save it for later," Aiden explained.
Just as he was about to continue on his way again, Aiden's steps were halted when he heard a strange noise behind him.
He hid behind the trees, took a small peek, and saw the woman from the cave coming toward him. Aiden squinted immediately.
[Magic Element: Fire Arrow]
Without thinking, Aiden brought up a single fire arrow above his palm. It was still floating and waiting to be released by Aiden.
As Aiden walked out of hiding, the woman saw him. She gasped at the sight of Aiden using his fire arrow again.
"Why are you following me?" Aiden asked, sternly.
"My name is Helen Reinhard. I'm a mage with the dominant element of water. I'm from Squad 111 and all my friends have failed," Helen said.
"I didn't know where to go, I was so confused. But your appearance to defeat a squad makes me believe that I can come with you," said Helen.
"I won't trouble you. I promise I won't bother you. I'll help you as much as I can, even though I know I'll fail this test," Helen replied, continuing to plead to Aiden to let her go together.
'The Reinhard noble family, they used to be one of the honorable families, but now they're just businessmen nobles,' Aiden interrupted.
'Is it good for me to allow her? I'm afraid she'll just snatch all my gold plates when I let my guard down,' Aiden said.
'It's better to look at the situation first. If she has no bad intentions, there's no harm in bringing her along,' Aiden said.
Aiden removed the fire arrow from his hand. He walked up to Helen with his eyes focused on her, full of a sense of intimidation.
"You don't know who I am?"
"I don't know."
"I'll let you go with me, but if you try to betray me, I won't hesitate to put a hole in your head!" said Aiden.
"Do you understand?" asked Aiden.
Helen swallowed her saliva, then responded with a nod. The man in front of her was scary, but it was even scarier to be in the forest alone with no friends.
Aiden was silent. He turned around and continued on his way, Helen following as Aiden gave her permission.
Three hours walking in the middle of the forest, Aiden and Helen stopped their walk when they saw an old mansion in an artificial dimension.
At first, Aiden thought he could live there. However, Aiden decided against it when he saw that a squad of mages had taken up residence first.
Aiden and Helen suddenly hid behind a bush, their attention fixed ahead.
"Two people seem to be guarding the front yard of the mansion, I don't know where the rest are," Aiden said.
"What are you going to do?" asked Helen, curious.
Aiden was silent, he didn't know what the squad in front of him was capable of. A direct attack without a plan would leave them both dead.
"I need something to distract them," Aiden explained, turning his head to the side to look at Helen.
Helen was surprised when Aiden kept looking at her, not knowing what to do to get their attention.
Aiden tore off his sleeve and asked Helen to gag her mouth so she wouldn't scream. Helen does so innocently, then wonders what Aiden is about to do.
SLAP!
The young man was seen kicking, punching, slapping and throwing Helen's body violently. Helen tried to rebel as she thought Aiden was going to kill her, but she realized it was Aiden's plan.
"Akh!" complained Helen, feeling the pain of bruising and aching in several parts of her body.
Aiden slashed his palms and smeared the blood on Helen's face, arms, breast and legs. It was to make Helen's appearance much more convincing.
"What exactly are you planning to do?" Helen asked.
"Go out there and walk like you're in pain, I'll sneak up from the side of the mansion!" said Aiden.
Helen was already in pain from Aiden's punches and kicks, so there was no need to pretend.
Aiden ran around to the other side of the mansion, waiting for the mansion's squad to come out as their attention was focused on Helen.
The plan began! Helen staggered with blood on her body, screaming for help.
As fellow nobles, the squad members would definitely help her, especially since she was a woman and had a beautiful face.
"Help... me!" cried Helen.
Sure enough! The two men on guard in the front yard came running when they saw Helen fall limp.
Not only them, but two other people emerged from inside the mansion and looked at Helen with shocked expressions.
When that happened, Aiden became the one to decide whether this plan would work or not.
"What's going on? What's your name? What squad are you from?" a man asked, trying to get Helen's attention.
From the side of the mansion, Aiden prepared his fire magic spell, combined with Aurora's ice thorn.
[Magic Element: Fire Arrow]
Aiden raised four fire arrows with ice thorns above his palms. By moving the magic with his mind, Aiden shot the four fire arrows at the four squad members.
The swift pace of the fire arrows was difficult for them to avoid, two people were seriously injured and immediately teleported to the academy, the rest were still saved and were on full alert.
"Damn it! She's bait!" said the man.
Violently, the man pulled Helen and strangled her, threatening the person who attacked his team.
"If you don't come out soon, I'll kill this bitch!" he threatened.
Aiden couldn't let that happen. He aimed his fire arrow at one of the unprotected men, four fire arrows piercing his body and making him teleport straight to the academy.
Now, there was only one man still keeping Helen as a hostage. The man was terrified with a ashen face, so desperate that he almost killed Helen.
"Let her go!" said Aiden, appearing from the forest beside the old mansion.
"You! Are you the one who did all this?" the man asked.
"You're my enemy, I won't miss a chance to kill you!" said Aiden.
"If you're a man, fight me!"
Aiden aimed his four ice-spiked fire arrows back above his palm, looking terrifying but powerful enough.
"Tsk!"
"Don't be arrogant!"
The man threw Helen away. He sprinted while directing his wind magic forward, to attack Aiden. Aiden activated his second magic in this battle, a fire shield.
[Magic Element: Fire Shield]
Aiden wrapped himself in a shield field of fire magic, making the enemy's windstorm attacks have no significant impact on him.
He also ran forward while spreading the four fire arrows into the sky, Aiden continued to control them using his mind and hands.
Aiden's agile movements were hard for the man to keep up with. Aiden ran until he was right before him, his hand shrouded in fire magic and stabbed the man in the stomach, leaving him badly injured and vomiting blood.
Helen screamed out loud at the sight of Aiden's deadly attack. Even if the man teleported to the academy, his life would not be saved.
"Y-You!" the man said, limp and weak.
"The battle is over. Your team lost."
