Infinite Evolution in the Marvel universe

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Why Is He Here?

After leaving the New York FBI, Harvey only showed a slight smile once he was back in his convertible sports car. He had invested a lot of money in maintaining his current identity and didn't want the S.H.I.E.L.D. to disrupt his life.

For now, Harvey planned to stick to his routine—eating out at various places, enjoying himself, and collecting evolution points. Occasionally, he might undertake missions as the Grim Reaper to earn more points.

What he needed to do now was wait for the right moment. Harvey knew that he needed to keep up appearances, so after satisfying his hunger, he decided not to return to his original estate. Instead, he went to a villa in New York.

He even stayed indoors, ordering a large amount of takeout to his villa, and settled into a "homebody" routine. Every time he ate high-calorie foods like pizza and steaks, the system would notify him of receiving dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of evolution points.

A million evolution points might seem like a lot, but it wasn't. The Void Clan, under harsh conditions, would rapidly evolve to adapt, greatly enhancing its power. Harvey felt that enjoying the process of accumulating evolution points was better than forcing himself.

With nine years remaining before the true arrival of the purple sweet potato essence, simply eating food would be enough for him to evolve many times. Moreover, he planned to absorb a large amount of Vibranium when the time was right.

Though absorbing iron and steel made him nauseous, it was likely due to the extreme and unpleasant nature of the material that the evolution points gained were significant.

During his time as a homebody, Harvey also sold off his Stark Industries stock. Within just a few days, a bounty for Tony Stark had already been taken up, signaling that Iron Man would soon make his debut, which would throw New York into further chaos.

This also marked the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first phase. Harvey had no intention of interfering with these major events because they were crucial.

If Tony Stark survived and turned over a new leaf, it would likely confirm that this timeline was part of the main universe. If Stark died, it would mean this timeline was just a parallel universe. If the former, Harvey could consider unlocking the Void Fear Kog'Maw or Void Walker Kassadin hero templates when he had the chance, which would greatly enhance his strength.

If it was the latter, he would actively recruit various heroes to quickly unlock templates and regain the Prophet's abilities. Regardless of the universe, Harvey was confident in his ability to survive and evolve, maintaining an unbeatable position.

For now, he would just observe the trajectory of Iron Man. Harvey ate five meals a day, each amounting to the equivalent of what a hundred people would consume, continually amassing evolution points. After eating, he would exercise to further improve his control over his powers.

After living this homebody lifestyle for a month, Harvey had evolved an average of once a week, totaling eighteen evolutions. His attack capabilities were now adequate, so he focused on enhancing his defensive abilities. He had upgraded his Void Skin through these evolutions, bringing it from twenty-five to forty-three.

His physical strength and defense had reached an incredibly terrifying level. Harvey had conducted multiple tests in the Pacific Ocean and could now dive to the deepest parts of the ocean without any protection. The underwater pressure was harsh, and frequent testing had enabled his body to adapt, automatically evolving six times in underwater breathing capability.

Now, he had evolved a total of 262 times, with six evolutions focused solely on breathing. Environmental adaptations lead to automatic evolutions in those areas, and Harvey did not want to torture himself in various places to gain evolution points.

One day, while munching on potato chips and watching the news, Harvey saw a breaking report: "According to our latest update, the missing Tony Stark has successfully returned to New York."

Harvey saw that Stark Industries was preparing for a press conference. He smiled but chose not to short-sell Stark Industries' stock. He planned to buy a large amount of their stock later, and short-selling now could attract unwanted attention from Wall Street.

Instead, Harvey decided to drive to Stark Industries to attend the upcoming press conference and see for himself if Stark was indeed planning to abandon arms manufacturing, which would suggest this world was most likely the main universe.

Driving his latest Maserati, Harvey navigated the bustling streets of New York, undisturbed by the surrounding chaos of gunshots and broken glass, thanks to his exceptional driving skills and hearing.

Soon, he arrived at the venue for the Stark Industries press conference. Upon arriving, Harvey drew attention as he was one of New York's billionaires.

"Mr. Harvey Amberlock, I'm from Origin Tech. May I speak with you?" A well-dressed white man in glasses approached Harvey politely.

"I'm here to see Tony Stark," Harvey replied with a smile. "If you want me to invest, make sure your plans are well-developed. I'll consider investing when the time is right."

Harvey entered the venue, brushing off the offer.

"Mr. Harvey Amberlock, are you a friend of Tony Stark?" some reporters asked.

"You're right; I've never met Tony Stark at any formal events," Harvey admitted. "But as someone richer than I am, it would be great to make his acquaintance if possible."

"Does this mean you're considering investing in Stark Industries?" a reporter asked.

"There's a possibility," Harvey responded vaguely. "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to watch the press conference in peace."

Harvey avoided giving a clear answer, preferring to keep his options open. Although he could use his wealth to eliminate these reporters, his current identity as Harvey Amberlock, a rising billionaire in New York, meant he had to be cautious and not act recklessly.

He found a good vantage point in the venue, where many reporters and celebrities were already waiting. Coulson, who had been talking to Pepper Potts about Tony Stark's escape, was surprised to see Harvey Amberlock arrive.

"Why is he here?" Coulson wondered.

Pepper Potts turned her attention to Coulson's reaction. "Harvey Amberlock? Are you surprised by his presence?"

"Yes. Miss Potts, do you know if Mr. Amberlock is a friend of Mr. Stark?" Coulson asked politely.

"No. Although Tony and I have heard of him, I'm certain Tony has never met him," Pepper Potts replied quickly. She was familiar with Tony Stark's schedule and people he had met.

"Understood. Thank you for your time," Coulson said, realizing he wouldn't get much useful information and stepped aside.

Harvey settled into a good viewing spot, ready to watch the press conference unfold.
