Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1409: Separate ways

Rain began to connect the dots… a powerful giant weapon that, in theory, couldn't have been created. Hardt people had been defeated around five thousand years ago, so the creation of that weapon was recent, at least by the machine gods' standards…

The location of the weapon, close to the planet surrounded by moons, the place where the next relic was supposed to be that was able to draw power for the moons, the fact that a bunch of planets went missing recently, only their remains could be found on the vacuum of space… all those things were connected.

"It seems that we came just in time to find something insane here…" Rain said. "On the database that we had access to, we didn't find such a target would be a giant weapon equivalent of a death star."

"That weapon should be even bigger than the mana cannons and more powerful too…" Elisabetha said. "It doesn't have the size limitations that those have it either…"

Rain could only nod… it was truly a very dangerous weapon. It could fight powerful blasts of light thanks to the relic of the bow. It could fire in any direction. With extra charged power thanks to those mirrors, and it probably could charge insanely fast, too… why do the machine gods need something like that?

"We can't attack the other bases until that weapon is completely disarmed," Rain said while furrowing his eyebrows. "Destroying the whole thing should be hard but not impossible."

"You have the necessary skills to destroy all those mirrors at once?" Elisabetha asked. "I think it would be better to destroy some of them and then enter the place and steal the other mirrors to use against the enemies."

Rain knew that, but it was too risky… he couldn't risk the lives of half of their forces for something like that. They wouldn't recover from such a loss if it were to happen. If that was a prototype that was being used to develop a better version of it, even more reason to destroy the whole thing.

Before the others could say anything about Rain's decision, he decided to put his plan into action, and then he put his hands together. However, he was forced to stop when he saw the structure suddenly glowing. Like a sphere, the weapon began to spin as well…

"Have we been found?" Rain thought and then prepared to run away by using Teleport.

Before long, the weapon fired some massive beams of light in another direction… they almost looked like pillars of light of the same shape and size that were several kilometers wide and many times longer. Rain began to sweat cold while looking at that… the defense system that he had developed with the overseer was able to stop one of those attacks… but not a sequence of those.

After firing ten of those blasts, the weapon stopped spinning and then stopped glowing as well… maybe it had overheated, and that was probably the best chance to attack. However, a machine god should be nearby.

"We are going now. Prepare for the battle," Rain said via Telepathy.

"It was about damn time," Terra said.

Rain wouldn't have the chance to join the battle, so he might as well make sure that the enemies' weapons wouldn't be able to attack his friends. After putting his hands together, Rain began to focus with all his might while controlling his mana… it seemed that the enemies took notice of that since the weapon began to spin again.

However, Rain soon activated his technique around the weapon… the rain technique froze thanks to the vacuum of space, but Rain still controlled it and made it hit the enemies' weapons.

For a while, nothing happened, but soon several mirrors began to crack and eventually shattered… to think that they could withstand that technique for a while… maybe it wasn't so surprising since they could withstand so much energy being passed through them like a magnifying glass.

Once several holes appeared on the weapon, it stopped its spin and glowing as well… the whole structure needed to be in perfect shape in order to fire attacks of that level, after all, so it didn't surprise Rain. In any case, he soon used Teleport and entered the structure.

As soon as the spell ended, Rain began to fall… it looked like the whole structure actually had gravity, but that wasn't the important thing… the really important thing was the fact that the whole place was incredibly bright.

Rain had a hard time keeping his eyes open there, but he was still able to see countless mirrors around… he only saw some giant mirrors in all directions, and they all created that weird space of endless light…

In the end, Rain stopped his fall and then looked around for anything that he could use or find… but there were no signs of where he could find the command center or the relic… he wondered if he was in an illusion, but soon he changed his mind when he saw some dark sentinels coming through the mirrors and soon moving toward him.

"It is like that, huh?" Rain thought.

It was space magic… the mirrors were being used to bend space, and they were connected to other areas of the enemy's base. Rain had to figure out what was happening with those mirrors as soon as possible, so soon he connected his pocket dimension to the area, and then his friends began to emerge.

The same thing happened with the other four stations… a hole appeared on the floor there, and then the other groups showed up. Around the same time, some dragons began to appear there… things would be pretty chaotic in that space since the mirrors would mess with their sense of the depth of everyone.

"Leave this to us," Seara declared. "Go do your job."

Before Rain could say anything, both sides charged at each other, and then the bloodbath started…
