Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 627 No other choice

The impacts of the spears on the shields pushed the warriors backward and their friends behind had to support them… as if that wasn't enough, the shields began to freeze thanks to the ice shards after the destruction of the ice spears.

"... Liss and Asche will lead the fight agaisnt the slimes, focus on decreasing their attackin Power," Rain said while squinting his eyes. "Jori, Reca will fight on the North. Terra and Seadir will defend the southern side."

Everyone nodded and then they began to move… Rain was planning to help the side that suffers the most whatever it is. The warriors still had half of their energy left, but the enemies won't retreat anytime soon.

Just when Rain was thinking of that, the enemies on the North and South made hundreds of golems emerge and then before long, the heat sorcerers showed why they were there.

Suddenly, the earth golems went through an insane transformation. They began to burn with intense heat, and their stony bodies melted and morphed into a new form. They took on the appearance of very powerful-looking magma golems, their bodies radiating an orange-red glow. These new forms were taller and more imposing, with molten, flowing lava visible beneath the surface.

The magma golems exuded an aura of scorching heat and had a fiery, fearsome presence on the battlefield.

"This could be a problem…" Rain thought.

That was just the start… The magma Golems on both sides began to charge insanely fast without even moving their legs. They left a path of destruction and fire until they collided against the warriors.

The warriors of the raging Phoenix clenched their teeth and tried to endure the attacks, but the bodies of the Monsters made their weapons heat up and eventually burn their arms. The same thing was happening on both sides.

"Shit… this isn't good," Rain said and immediately began to drink some potions.

Seadir and his troops used their water Magic to attack the magma golems from the sides, but the water began to evaporate even before it could reach them… the small amounts that reached them barely did a thing… on the other side, Jori and Reca lead the charge and began to split the enemies while going all out… they killed the magma golems quite fast, but they couldn't do that for long.

Their bodies began to flinch thanks to the heat.

Rain decided to make his move… he had to kill as many of the casters as possible. He went north first to help Jori and Reca, and even though he only had to take a few steps, the enemies still had time to summon several more magma golems to block his advance when Rain passed through their first line of defense.

The magma golems quickly raised their arms to fire magma spears at Rain and then he jumped before using wind magic to step in the air and avoid those projectiles. Still, the magma golems weren't over yet… they jumped over each other to create walls to protect all sides of the formation of magic people.

Rain raised his eyebrows… as if that would stop him. In the last moment, he used Impulse, Limit Breaker, and Magic Boost before punching the first enemy with the intention of knocking down that massive wall. Still, his target exploded when his punch touched them.

After Rain's powerful punch shattered the first magma golem, it triggered a catastrophic chain reaction. The force of the attack caused an explosion that rippled through the other magma golems, causing them to detonate one after another. The fire explosions created a massive chain reaction that made the entire area tremble with violent energy.

As the magma golems self-destructed, the resulting explosions and blasts merged into a storm of flames, enveloping the battlefield. Rain found himself caught in the midst of this maelstrom of flames, surrounded by spheres of blazing fire that expanded rapidly, their intense heat and power threatening to overwhelm him.

When Rain was pushed backward by the flames, he landed on the ground covered in burn wounds. They weren't that bad since Rain's defenses were high, but they had been powerful enough to completely stop his advance.

"Fuck," Rain said while smoke was leaving his hair. "They planned this very well."

More and more golems were being summoned and Rain could feel explosions coming from behind… the monsters south of the city had the sole goal of causing as much damage as possible, and soon they will be able to do that.

Rain knew that the enemies wanted to learn more about him and their plan was almost perfect for that… Rain could try to endure that with his warriors, but hundreds of them would die. In the end, he made his choice.

"First Seal, off," Rain said and then his wounds began to heal insanely fast. "Sorry, Terra… Second Seal, Off.'

Rain felt the surge of power cross his body when he felt Seara's mana. At the same time, he made ice expand from his guards and then cover his whole body, he also created giant ice blades on his arms before he jumped toward the enemies.

Rain began to spin in the air and he became almost like a tornado, when he hit the magma golems. His ice blades pierced them into many parts, but the others kept exploding before Rain could even reach them. Still, the blasts didn't push him away this time.

When Rain crossed the waves of flames, he saw two hundred of the enemies staying there while the others ran away as fast as they could… they summoned earth platforms to help with that… they achieved one of their goals by making him show his trump card… Now, they just had to return to their camp and report their findings... they got Rain.
