Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 629 Resolve

However, he also saw the logic in Rain's approach: by drawing all the enemy's attention towards himself, Rain could provide the Raging Phoenix warriors with an opportunity to grow stronger and gain an advantage in the battles to come and without too many risks.

The strategy, while risky for himself, seemed to be the best way forward to confront the formidable and newly empowered magic people. Seadir trusted Rain's judgment and was prepared to support him in this challenging endeavor, even if it meant putting himself on the frontline to protect his people.

When the next morning came, Rain wasn't surprised to see the remaining slimes and other enemies coming again. Using the momentum in their favor was one of the most common battle tactics.

"Are you sure about this, Rain?" Jori asked when the warriors moved to the other side of the wall. "It doesn't matter how I see this… this is just insanity. Even for you."

"You should have realized by now… the enemies are different than usual," Rain said. "We have to keep surprising them, otherwise, they will surprise us and we will lose more since we can't produce forces like they can."

Jori looked at his friends and even Terra and Seara, but they just shrugged. They also agreed with him, but Rain had a point as well. Things won't end well if they let the enemies dictate the pace of the battles.

In the end, the warriors began to move to the sides while being led by Terra, and Asche in the southern side and the northern side were led by Jori, Reca and Liss. At the same time, Rain alone was planning to guard the Western side of the town.

When the enemies saw that as well, they couldn't help but blink several times in confusion. That was a ridiculous easy trap to understand, it was almost to the point that Rain was mocking them and that was stupid considering that the human side just suffered one hell of a defeat.

The human side began to advance because they didn't want the magma Golems reaching the walls of the town… it wasn't like their victory relied solely on that, but it would be a good start.

While the two armies marched, Rain just waited with his arms crossed. At that point in time, Rain could tell what kind of person the enemy strategist was and since they were someone who wanted Rain dead, it was easy to guess that they would do everything necessary to achieve it. With that in mind, the best option was to keep surprising the enemies.

Eventually, the enemies armies began to increase their pace. The remaining giant slimes jumped and crossed longer distances while the survivors of the battle of the previous day summoned the magma Golems even though they were two kilometers away from the city and soon they made them charge at the warriors.

They could summon ten of those creatures and their suicidal attacks could easily take down dozen of warriors and so was that their goal.

Still, after less than ten seconds the magic people began to focus on the warriors moving toward them, something crazy happened.

In a surprising turn of events, large ice spheres suddenly descended from above, crashing down upon the magic warriors with devastating force. The impacts were unexpected, catching the magic people off guard as shards of ice struck their bodies and smashed them.

It quickly became apparent that the ice spheres were, in fact, the giant slimes they had seen earlier, frozen into these deadly projectiles.

The element of surprise worked in favor of Rain and the Raging Phoenix, as the attack from above provided a critical advantage in the battle. The magic warriors found themselves facing an unexpected and formidable threat as the battle took a dramatic and chaotic turn.

When the enemies focused on the armies in front of them, Rain made his move, he used Impulse and after a few steps, he found himself in the middle of the monster's army.

Before the giant slimes could notice him, Rain pierced the Bodies of two of them and then tossed them toward the magic people. After flying in an arc for a couple of seconds, the frozen monsters killed a bunch of the enemies.

Some magma golems began to dissipate, and then the warriors used that chance to charge at the enemies. While they did that, they saw giant ice spheres flying to both sides of the battlefield… it was amazing that Rain could toss around such projectiles with his physical strength alone.

When some of the giant slimes took notice of Rain, they bombarded him with ice spheres… he used two giant frozen slimes to block the attacks, but soon those fell apart, and Rain had to look for other ways to defend himself. He wasn't in a good mood to hold back, so Rain just made his guards turn into ice blades again.

While controlling the ice blades, Rain soared through the air. His movements were a blur of agility and power. His ice blades danced with deadly grace, finding their marks with unerring precision as he crossed the battlefield and attacked the giant slimes like a supersonic top. Each strike cleaved through the giant slimes, splitting them apart in violent eruptions of frozen matter.

Those who narrowly avoided his onslaught still met a freezing fate, as the residual frost left them encased in a frigid prison.

The battlefield was thrown into chaos as the enemies bore witness to Rain's unexpected and awe-inspiring display of elemental mastery. His fierce magic powers and unmatched control over his ice-based powers had become a force to be reckoned with, turning the tide of the battle and leaving the enemy in disarray… It was time to show them Rain's true power.
