Rain found himself unexpectedly closer to the depths of the world's history in his pursuit of understanding magic. While he had extensively studied historical records and read numerous texts over the years, they merely scratched the surface.
The texts presented general knowledge about the existence of six distinct species in their world, but they never delved into the intricate details behind their origins or why, in Rain's perception, they appeared similar yet very distinct only from dragons.
The demihumans, beast people, magic people, and sea folk exhibited striking resemblances to humans, albeit with heightened potential and capabilities. Yet, despite their similarities, Rain sensed underlying differences that set them apart. Their shared physical appearances, coupled with their distinct abilities and some physical features like tails, claws, and fur.
That fueled Rain's curiosity about their origins and the peculiarities that made them unique compared to the dragon lineage.
As he delved deeper into this pursuit, Rain realized that unlocking the mysteries of magic intertwined intricately with the world's history. The unknown answers to the existence and peculiarities of these distinct species seemed to reside within the annals of time, waiting to be unearthed amidst the depths of historical lore and forgotten knowledge.
"I wanted to copy the magic people and evolve myself faster than them… they did it so by using the same skills over and over again until they reached their true potential by reaching the path that they wanted," Rain thought.
"Eventually, they evolved to the point that some of them had holes in their bodies to fire bones… their auras could emit cold, and their bodies could absorb heat… without that, weren't they basically humans?"
Thinking that was the case, Rain went to the ice dungeon and tried to force himself to endure the cold and make his body adapt it forcefully… he didn't have the time to do that anymore since he was trying to find a solution to the dust.
While Rain was starting to sweat thanks to the handstands, he checked and confirmed that the other paths following the human path still resembled abilities and techniques that humans would have, but things changed a lot on the tier three paths. Even tier two paths like the Healers path didn't seem like skills humans would have without magic…
"The thing is… we suddenly obtain the knowledge of the skills. I know that this is thanks to the system, but… how and why?" Rain thought. "It would make sense if this were a simulation or a game, but it definitely isn't…"
Rain considered a long time ago that perhaps he didn't die and someone used his damaged body and mind to experiment with in virtual reality, but why would anyone go that far? He was just an ordinary guy before in all senses of the word.
Besides, if that were true, he should have found other people in a similar position as him… maybe that was why the guy helping the magic and the beast people knew his methods and strategies, the teleporting guy as well, and the human that killed thousands of magic people and beast people without revealing its identity until now.
Those were some interesting theories, but Rain wanted to learn more about magic to find a way to solve the situation… nothing else. The other things could wait…
"The history beyond the world's history, the events of the past that are repeating themselves and the paths… they are all connected," Rain thought. "The system affects everything in this world, maybe that is why I can't dig deeper beyond a certain point.
The system doesn't want that and if the system can do this much… maybe also the system can create this massive dust storm that took over the whole known world."
That would explain a lot of things… the system tried to prevent something from happening before and now. Rain assumed that it was related to the dragon god, but only the dragons were moving for now, not the dragon god… at least in theory.
With that in mind, was it even possible for Rain to do something against the dust? Since Rain was also a part of the system, maybe his reincarnation was thanks to it… and going against it would be risky.
"Forget about that… I only want to learn how to use the system better," Rain thought while shaking his head. "Still, bow when I think about it… perhaps that isn't the best option when the system itself can limit what I can do."
What other options does Rain has without the system? None… since he relied on it from the very beginning. Still, little by little Rain began to formulate a certain theory in his mind… all those things were happening for a very big and important reason and the system was using its influence to stop it or delay it… all that was just conjecture, but it made sense considering the war in the past.
While considering all that, Rain also recalled things that apparently didn't work by following the rules of the system… those would be the relics that Rain found… the golden bow that could be powered by rare objects, the emperor's spear that increased one's control over water dozens of times and even the shield… the shield had that power probably because it had the conscience of someone there but how come that could affect the world to that extent?
Another day passed while Rain was thinking about those things… while he didn't make any real progress, he felt like the was getting closer to learning how that world worked and how some people could bypass the system rules. Things like magic barriers, the insane effects of the relics, the knowledge of the enemies that wanted Rain dead… he was getting closer to understanding all that.
"I wonder if they want me dead because I can obtain the same knowledge that they have…" Rain though. "Did I do something that caused trouble for them? I only wish to live a chill life… wish… wish, huh?"
