Chapter 157: 157: Do You Know How Empty I Am?
SSR, Slaughter, Dragon's Kiss Guild, and other guilds had far more wealth than the Godslayer Guild.
For a long time, the main battle members of the guild had much weaker gear compared to their opponents. However, at this stage, it was difficult to mass-produce legendary equipment just by having money but lacking the necessary materials. Large guilds mostly used a "拼夕夕" model (referring to auction house sniping and reselling to equip members) to stock up on gear for their teams.
Even though high-quality gear could boost the main team's stats, it was still difficult to form three-piece set bonuses, leading to a significant drop in combat power. Most players were left with mismatched pieces, requiring a lot of time to gather the necessary items.
In five days, after accumulating rewards from first clears of dungeons, Godslayer's main members would start to reach level 30. Once their equipment was forged, along with the countless hero, legendary, and high-level skill gear stored in the guild, the top ten road kings, Madman's assassin squad, and Bradley's melee army would all be fully equipped and ready for battle!
Meanwhile, deep within a dungeon on the battlefield...
"Global power ranking number one." Wedge's beautiful eyes narrowed as she stared at the leaderboard, lost in thought.
Around her, over two hundred SSR players were continuously fighting "air," dealing damage to the six-sided altar. Numerous magical patterns shimmered, and damage numbers continued to pop up.
The 1 billion HP teleportation array was being slowly worn down by the team's three-shift grind, having already lost 200 million health. With the barrier's defense weakening, the process was speeding up.
"Don't worry. Even if he's number one on the leaderboard, with me and the Supreme Guild here, one Orgod is nothing to fear."
A tall man with a dragon spear, exuding noble charisma, spoke beside Wedge. His handsome features were striking, and on his shoulder stood a small creature glowing with silver light – a level 1 high-tier silver dragon!
The other SSR players around him were stunned. That was a silver dragon!
"Of course, I'm grateful for everything you've done for me," Wedge smiled, her expression as pure as her charm. "I don't know how to repay you, but..."
"Then how about we log off and have a drink?" Drunken Dream smiled, exuding an air of nobility.
"Alright, I'll come pick you up." Wedge smiled, and she had already met this man once. Despite being naturally blind, he was an heir to a prominent family, and his handsome looks only added to his charm.
Of course, most importantly, he was the successor to the entire family.
Wedge had climbed from the bottom of society, using her charm to get to the top, and she couldn't miss such a "perfect prey" like him.
The two logged off, and the scene switched.
In Baiguo City, inside a high-end private club.
Wedge gracefully hooked her arm around Drunken Dream's and guided him to sit down.
"Thank you. I thought you might run away when you saw me, but you're more gentle than I imagined," Drunken Dream said, savoring his red wine as several bodyguards stood near the door.
"Is that so?" Wedge's beautiful face flushed slightly. "None of us are perfect. I'm no exception."
"By the way, where were we? Based on your progress, how many more days until the barrier is broken?" Drunken Dream casually asked.
Wedge glanced at him with slight suspicion before smiling. "I'm not sure. With the barrier weakening, it might take 1-3 more days, or maybe longer."
"I see." Drunken Dream frowned inwardly. Wasn't that just saying nothing at all?
"That Naoko, she's your friend, right? Will she be part of the outfield plan?" Drunken Dream asked, genuinely curious.
Naoko was an SS-level summoner who could summon Yamata no Orochi and had made it into the top 50 of the leaderboard. If she entered the US battlefield after the barrier was broken, it would certainly cause a huge stir.
Drunken Dream, always confident in his abilities, didn't fear strong opponents. However, after facing off against Orson, he had come to understand that some people were beyond the reach of normal competition.
Summoners were more vulnerable than beast masters. If the summoner was killed, the summoned creatures would disappear, but the advantage was that after a cooldown, the summoner could call their creatures back.
But after facing Orson, Drunken Dream knew he could never be too careless when facing a potential enemy.
"If you're not willing to talk about it, that's fine. I'm just curious if she's as good-looking as you," Drunken Dream teased, then sighed dramatically. "It's a pity I can't see a big beauty like Wedge in real life. That's the misery of a little blind guy like me."
His words made Wedge lower her guard slightly. Especially since the man in front of her had a fortune worth billions but couldn't even fully perceive the world around him. Wedge felt a surge of sympathy.
"She's definitely my friend. As for the other three UJ district players on the leaderboard, I've met them too. They're good partners," Wedge smiled, her lips curving playfully. "Naoko's much prettier than I am. Want me to introduce you to her? I think she's single."
"No! If you introduce her to me, what will happen to you?" Drunken Dream seized the opportunity to tease her.
Wedge's face flushed a deeper red, and they both burst into laughter.
The two enjoyed their conversation well into the night. Eventually, Wedge reluctantly left in a luxury car.
After she left, Drunken Dream sighed deeply. He pulled out his phone and called someone.
Drunken Dream: "I estimate it will take no more than five days to break the barrier. Maybe even sooner. Do you want me to send you the coordinates?"
"By the way, she really is quite deep. She didn't give me any info at first, but luckily, my charm worked..." he continued.
"Stop, stop! You can boast about that to others, but not to me," Orson's voice came through, muffled by the sound of him slurping instant noodles. He'd had a rare big haul in the game, treating himself to bacon and eggs.
Drunken Dream: "Her voice is so nice, yet her heart is so cruel. Internal and external collusion, what a taboo! Such a pity..."
If Wedge had seen Drunken Dream's reaction, her heart might have stopped beating...
"Slaughterer" Drunken Dream had long become Orson's top agent infiltrating the enemy guilds.
"Forget the coordinates. I have an insider keeping an eye on it," Orson replied casually, continuing to slurp his noodles. Just half an hour ago, Charles had updated him on the situation.
"Write this down," Drunken Dream instructed. "There are four guilds in UJ district, right? I'll jot this down."
"One SS-level summoner, one beast tamer, and two S-level ghost warriors..."
"What? One of the guild leaders is Chinese and can be bought off? Don't bother. What's the point of wasting money on that?" Orson shook his head. No matter who came through the teleportation array from UJ district to the US, it was just a provocation, and they would meet with lightning strikes.
When Drunken Dream mentioned that Wedge was interested in him, Orson immediately interrupted: "What? Wedge wants to get closer to you?"
"Deep conversation, my... brother, she's not as innocent as you think."
Drunken Dream frowned. "So after drinking, she invited me to her villa for coffee. What does that mean? Does she want to... take advantage of my good looks?"
"You should go. I'm begging you, hurry up. If you don't have a few trillion in assets, that woman won't even look at you," Orson responded without much patience.
Drunken Dream became anxious: "You know, I almost got tempted? Do you have any idea how empty I am? I'm sick of looking up and seeing nothing but emptiness!"
"This is temporary. You'll feel better soon, my friend." Orson chuckled lightly. Once reality and the game world merged, the Silver Dragon Knight King would be reborn. A little eye issue would be no problem.
On the other hand, Orson knew Wedge all too well. Given her nature, a single night of passion wouldn't even be considered much. Her beauty was her most powerful weapon.
"Sigh... my friend, I'm really not good at this kind of thing," Drunken Dream complained.
"You'll get used to it. You're the one who can crush the number one on the leaderboard," Orson teased before hanging up the phone.
