Infinite Range: The Sniper Mage

Chapter 245: 245: The Gamble of the Soul Seal

"Rewards for all participating players: 200 free attribute points, 300 skill points, 6 talent points, 500 gold coins, and 3 chances to draw a Human Soul Seal or Divine Soul Seal."

"Drawing Instructions: You may choose the best result from the three draws as your reward!"

"Is this reward a bit too much? Three draws? And they say Godslayer isn't favored?"

"Orgod really went all out this time. How did he win this battle?! The ancestral ceremony for him should be held immediately!"

"Looks like the world's #1 Sword Soul Guild might lose its position after this."

...

Once the global announcement went out, the entire Infinite Dimensions player base erupted in excitement!

Except for the Godslayer guild and a few of their allies, almost no one thought they would win this battle.

"What do we do now? They've actually won."

"I can't even imagine what kind of retaliation is coming next, with Orgod's tactics in the UJ region... the consequences are unpredictable."

The leaders of the various guilds involved in the siege were panicking, and immediately logged off to discuss countermeasures.

"Stop sending me messages! I already saw it!" Unmatched Robert yelled angrily, complaining that the NPCs in Infinite Dimensions were too weak—how could they not deal with a single player like Orgod!

The Godslayer crew gathered at Purple Thunder Fortress Tavern to celebrate their victory with a feast.

Texas Musk: "I raise a glass! If we draw the Divine Soul Seal, I think it's only fair that I get a vice-president spot, right?"

Orson, holding up a mug of dark beer, chuckled lightly: "Sure, if the president's fine with it, why not?"

This comment caused everyone to burst into laughter.

"Texas Musk, you sure have big ambitions," Dynasty Old Yin laughed, slapping him on the back.

Texas Musk awkwardly scratched his head, turning red as he said, "The vice-president spot would be enough, though... let's not talk about that. We might not have the strength, but we have top-tier character!"

Madman, rubbing his hands together with excitement: "Epic rank! Epic rank! Changing my fate right here!"

Absolute Kid: "Come on, place your bets! This time, we're definitely getting an Epic Rank!"

Ride Donkey: "You? If you manage to pull an Epic Rank, I'll eat noodles upside down while doing push-ups!"

Iron Cavalry: "Let's see what happens, I'll bet 100 gold that we'll get a Spirit-level!"

...

The gamblers in the guild gathered at the tavern entrance, setting up a betting game on the Soul Seal quality from the upcoming draws, attracting a crowd of curious onlookers placing their bets.

Orson, grinning mischievously, walked over and casually pulled out 2,000 gold coins, placing them all on the "Common" tier.

"Hey! President, you don't believe in my luck?" Absolute Kid glanced at him, noticing that 2,000 gold coins were placed on the most basic tier. If they really ended up with the lowest-grade Common Soul Seal, Melee King would surely take all the winnings.

"Betting on Common is a bit too much, at least a Spirit-level for a safety net, right?"

"Don't be ridiculous! I've spun this wheel during a mission and got a Lord-Class Soul Seal, which I sold for tens of thousands."

Players laughed and shook their heads. In the eyes of these gambling fans, even if Orgod was the one spinning the wheel, once he was at the table, everyone was on equal footing!

Absolute Kid summoned the large prize wheel for the draw, gritted his teeth, and pulled the lever.

The wheel spun wildly, with various grades of Soul Seals flashing in front of the crowd, tempting everyone with their potential rewards.

Once the wheel slowed down, everyone held their breath, and Absolute Kid's eyes widened as he almost leaped off his chair: "Divine... Divine level?!"

Iron Cavalry: "No way? If a flat-chested/NPC Dad Bod like you can get a Divine level, that's harder than killing me!"

The excitement was palpable, but Orson simply shook his head with a smile, silently thinking to himself: "You guys are in for a shock."

"I... I'm going to be a Leaderboard contender?" Absolute Kid muttered as the wheel's pointer slowed down and finally stopped, his hands trembling as he prepared to scream in joy.

But suddenly, just as his hand reached for the prize, the pointer jerked forward by half a centimeter, dropping from the Divine level straight to the Common level.

The crowd went silent in shock, and Absolute Kid immediately fell to the ground, howling, "What the hell! Who breathed near the wheel and pushed it half a centimeter forward?!"

Orson waved his hand dismissively, making sure to clear the gambling table of all the gold coins, leaving everyone in stunned silence.

"You're no fun! We were just having some lighthearted bets, and you wipe us all out," Iron Cavalry complained, chasing after Orson, trying to beg him to let them off the hook.

"Why gamble when you could just focus on gear farming?" Orson smiled, responding to them with a nod of respect. "The guild's funds are tight, thank you all for your support!"

In the later stages of Infinite Dimensions, gambling and lottery draws were common, and while it sounded impressive to have a chance at a Divine Soul Seal, the chances of drawing one were almost non-existent.

According to the statistics from veteran gamblers, the probability of getting a Divine-level Soul Seal was 0.00001%, while the odds of getting a Common-tier one were over 90%. Even pulling a Lord-Class Soul Seal was considered an amazing stroke of luck.

But that minuscule chance, in a game with such a huge player base, still managed to make a few lucky players soar with the Divine Soul Seal.

Unfortunately, none of that luck seemed to belong to the gamblers today.

Madman: "Impressive, buddy. Want to guess how much it costs to repair the Celestial Fortress?"

"How much?"

Madman: "Ten million gold coins, one million reputation, and tons of materials. How does that make you feel?"

"WTF, does that mean the fortress is out of commission for now?"

Orson's face turned green with shock.

Madman: "The engine's almost intact. I checked the manual, and the main weapon's broken. Can't use that, and there's no barrier shield either. Mining and herb collection spots are gone too. Oh, and the maze entrance is destroyed. Repairs will cost extra."

Orson's mood took a nosedive. After all the effort to gain control of the fortress, he discovered it was a huge mess.

Ten million gold coins? With the guild's current losses and the near-empty coffers, scraping together even 500,000 gold coins would be a challenge.

"Don't worry about the money for now. I'll figure something out," Orson said, trying to stay calm.

Madman: "What about getting some backing from a consortium? With your reputation, it shouldn't be impossible."

"Accepting investment means losing control. Not an option," Orson replied firmly.

He knew that the Godslayer guild was incredibly valuable right now, and with just a word, large financial groups or venture capitalists would line up to invest. But he wasn't about to give up control just for some quick cash.

"Then what are you going to do?" Madman asked, confused.

"Of course, I'll have someone print some money for me tomorrow," Orson grinned.

"Print money? You must look really good for that to work," Madman joked.

"Obviously," Orson said with a confident smile, knowing full well that being at the top of the Leaderboards, holding the Celestial Fortress, and having absolute dominance would ensure that money would never be a problem.

Orson didn't log off immediately. Instead, he mounted his Crimson Lizard King and rode off, bidding farewell to his guildmates as he headed for the Divine Legion's Treasure quest trigger point—within the Dark Dragon Empire.

The attribute rewards and the lottery were just side events. The real treasure lay in The Divine Legion's Treasure.

From the quest description, not only would there be vast riches, but there were secrets to strengthening the entire legion hidden within.

Orson had a bold guess.

Previously, Madman had stolen an Epic Rank Soul Seal from Saint Archer Skyfeather, which gave Orson some insight.

He believed that the God-Emperor, who rose to power using the Super God-grade Divine Soul Seal, might be the most knowledgeable player in Infinite Dimensions about the value of Soul Seals.

And given that The Divine Legion had conquered two mighty empires, it was highly likely they possessed a large number of high-quality Soul Seals!
