Chapter 279: High-Speed Assault!
[TN:Four chapter for the ones I miss and the one i own today]
The motorcycle roared across the wasteland, tearing through the terrain at breakneck speed. V hugged the bike's frame tightly, raising her Nekomata sniper rifle—
Though it seemed like the bike was gliding smoothly over flat ground, the speed had already surpassed 150 mph and was still climbing!
For any shooter, such intense vibrations would make aiming nearly impossible.
No one could guarantee a successful long-range shot under these conditions—it would be a miracle to even attempt one.
But V was no ordinary person!
Her Kerenzikov cyberware pushed to its absolute limit in that instant, while her Little Octopus AI implant worked to enhance the Sandevistan neural pathways.
V didn't perceive the bike's shaking anymore—she felt as if she were riding the waves of an ocean.
The rhythm of the waves rose and fell, moving her body along with them, and her crosshairs followed suit.
The moment her sights aligned with the target, she pulled the trigger!
BANG!
"Bullseye!"
Within a theoretical 0.1-second shooting window, the bullet pierced through the reinforced glass of the Behemoth APC's driver's seat, sending a mist of blood spraying inside the vehicle!
The massive armored truck immediately lost control, veering violently to the side!
"Holy shit, chica! That was insane!"
Jackie, lacking neural enhancements, could only witness V firing a perfect shot at nearly 160 mph on a wildly unstable surface.
Due to the recoil, V's bike dipped sharply, slowing her down momentarily. She flashed a thumbs-up at Jackie—because now, it was his turn to take point!
Two Centaur-class mechs landed on the battlefield. One turned toward V, distracted by her presence, while the other locked onto Jackie with its cannon.
Meanwhile, the remaining Centaur mechs were still trapped in the APC's cargo bay, unable to deploy immediately.
Jackie locked eyes with the mech aiming at him. His Lizard Berserker cyberware surged to full power!
His bike shot past 200 mph—a terrifying speed.
If this were the old days, no one could have convinced him to attempt what he was about to do.
Though his bike wouldn't accelerate any further, that didn't mean he planned to enter the battle in a "conventional" way—
The Centaur mech raised its cannon. It was a semi-rail weapon, launching high-density, superheated rounds stabilized by electromagnetic fins—
The mech waited for Jackie to enter its firing range, finger on the trigger.
But Jackie was also waiting—waiting for his moment!
And then—the perfect moment arrived!
BOOM!
The mech's rail shell traced a lethal arc through the air—
But Jackie's bike suddenly launched into the air, narrowly dodging the shot—
And Jackie himself became a human missile, soaring straight toward the mech!
Inside the Centaur's cockpit, the pilot's face froze in shock. He barely managed to raise his shield in panic—
BANG!
Jackie slammed into the shield at full force!
The impact speed exceeded 100 mph—for a split second, Jackie lost all sensation in his body. But only for a moment.
The Centaur's shield crumpled inward, its stabilizing servos malfunctioning from the shock. The mech toppled backward!
Watching the scene unfold, Maelstorm gang leader Brick stood slack-jawed—
For the first time, he regretted not upgrading his jaw augments—because his mouth simply couldn't open wide enough to express his utter disbelief.
Someone actually just tanked a Centaur mech head-on?!
Was this even a human? Or some new European bionic prototype?
BOOM!
The mech crashed to the ground, and Jackie rolled to a stop nearby. He shook his head to clear the dizziness—his Gorilla Arms crackled with excess energy.
He was fine—but ironically, his cyberware was the first thing to start malfunctioning.
No time to think.
Jackie's eyes snapped toward the downed mech—
Its legs had been badly damaged by the impact, sparks flickering from the joints.
These mechs relied on their massive shields and devastating rail cannons—
But they weren't designed for direct melee combat.
The Centaur tried to recover, its hydraulic legs bracing for a desperate kipp-up—
But Jackie wouldn't let it!
The moment they both hit the ground, Jackie was already lunging forward!
The pilot sensed the danger and swung both arms defensively—
That's when he realized—his shield was ruined!
Jackie's massive hands shot through the bent metal plating, reaching inside—
The pilot reacted fast, blocking Jackie's grip with both mechanical arms—
And that's when he realized the true horror.
After that off-the-charts impact, the mech's servos were fried—
His machine was now weaker than the monster in front of him!
Jackie felt the mechanical arms trembling against his grip—
A cruel grin spread across his face.
With brute force, he ripped the arms apart!
The pilot's breathing turned frantic as he watched his own cybernetic limbs failing under the strain—
His rail cannon charged up, but he had no chance to fire it!
CRACK!
With one final surge, the mech's arm servos overloaded, bursting into a shower of sparks.
Jackie let go for just an instant—then slammed his shoulder into the mech, pinning it down.
With one hand, he wrapped around its broken arm—
And with a brutal elbow strike, he completely shattered it—
Then, he yanked it free!
BOOM!
Electric arcs erupted from the severed arm, mixing cyber-fluid with real blood.
Jackie raised the detached limb—
And smashed it down onto the pilot's head!
BANG!
Two thunderous impacts—the Centaur was destroyed, its pilot dead.
"Jackie, MOVE!"
V's voice blasted through the comms—Jackie's instincts screamed in alarm!
Without hesitation, he threw himself aside!
BOOM!
A rail shell struck the downed Centaur, leaving a smoking crater where the pilot once was.
Jackie looked up, wide-eyed—
Just in time to see V leaping high into the air!
Her Mantis Blades gleamed under the sunlight—
Like a predatory mantis, descending upon its prey!
The remaining Centaur mech had no time to react—
V's blades plunged through its armor, piercing the pilot's heart—
And then viciously twisted!
The mech, now without its pilot, collapsed to its knees.
The battle sounded complicated, but in reality, it hadn't taken long at all.
At least, from Brick's perspective as he lay on the ground, it all happened in just a moment.
Just like that, in mere moments, these two beasts had torn a Centaur mech apart with their bare hands.
Brick swallowed hard.
These two… they looked human.
Of course, he knew better. He could tell that their cyberware was far from ordinary—no pure human could rip a mech apart like that.
But he hadn't forgotten—there was still a downed Behemoth APC nearby!
Bang!
The armored vehicle suddenly let out a muffled boom, as if improperly deployed equipment was groaning in protest—
Brick immediately pointed at the remaining vehicle.
"Hey! Over there too!"
V glanced at the transport's cargo hold, and the Mantis Blades in her hands crackled with electricity—
These blades weren't just for cutting. They were hacking tools.
Leo instantly linked into the Militech convoy's combat network.

His processing power transformed in cyberspace, forming ice spikes designed to shatter the network's ICE barriers.
At first, it seemed like a standard intrusion attempt.
But the moment his ice spikes made contact with the ICE, Leo realized something was wrong—
The barrier protecting the Militech mechs suddenly shifted. It changed forms, turning into pure raw processing power, attempting to construct a puppet entity—
This meant the autonomous mechs' systems were about to be completely wiped, rendering them non-operational!
Whoever was behind this attack wasn't just defending the network—they were counter-hacking him!
Leo's expression darkened slightly, but not much—
This was the Badlands.
An entire convoy like this might have, at most, 50–70 CCU of computing power. That was more than enough to deal with normal hackers—probably even overkill.
But Leo wasn't just any hacker—he had admin privileges. With a Marvel-tier server backing him up, he could pull 700 CCU if needed.
However, he soon realized something was very wrong—
Inside the data stream, there was something he didn't quite understand—
But something he recognized.
[Little Octopus: Boss, something's off!]
[Little Octopus: This smells familiar!]
In cyberspace, the swirling data streams formed into a dragon, coiling around Leo's ice spike and spewing fire at it!
But that fire carried a familiar presence—
Even in the void of cyberspace, faint traces of red and black lightning flickered, distorting the very fabric of the digital ether.
The Blackwall!
