Invincible by Picking Attributes

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Continuously Collecting Attributes

"Nonsense."

"This city is one of Korea's most fortified strongholds, known as a major military hub."

"Only our Great Qin could take it down in just ten days," Wei Quan retorted irritably.

"It's taken, sure, but so many lives were lost."

"It's all fate," Zhao Feng sighed, casting a glance over the scene.

"Don't waste your breath. These lives don't matter. As long as Korea is eradicated, any sacrifice is worth it," Wei Quan chuckled, his perspective pragmatic.

"Lucky to be assigned to the logistics corps," Zhao Feng muttered, feeling both relief and a renewed sense of gratitude.

"Otherwise, I might've been one of those corpses."

Staring at the battlefield littered with Qin soldiers riddled by arrows or crushed into pulp by boulders from enemy trebuchets, Zhao Feng couldn't help but feel the scene before him was far more gruesome than anything he had witnessed at the border.

Even though he had grown stronger thanks to the attributes he had collected, surviving a relentless rain of arrows or boulders was impossible.

This realization solidified his resolve stay cautious, avoid risks, and survive.

The logistics corps was perfect. Serving two years here was enough to lay low.

Just then, a black-armored general arrived at the battlefield, flanked by hundreds of mounted guards.

"Logistics troops, listen up!"

"Yangcheng is now secured."

"The main camp's elite troops from Lantian are pursuing the remnants of the enemy. Cleaning up Yangcheng falls to all of you."

"If there are wounded soldiers, transport them to the medical camp immediately."

"Clean up the city within five days!" The general barked orders.

Hearing the commanding voice, Zhao Feng turned to look. He caught sight of the slim figure in black armor, a pale face, and a peculiar voice.

"One look and it's obvious she's a woman disguised as a man. Do they think people are blind?" Zhao Feng muttered to himself, bemused.

"Women can become generals in Qin?" Zhao Feng asked Wei Quan, puzzled.

"What woman? What general?" Wei Quan looked confused.

Zhao Feng raised an eyebrow. "Brother Wei, are you pretending not to see it or blind?"

"That general is a woman."

Wei Quan squinted at the figure and shook his head in disbelief. "She's a woman? Impossible!"

"Forget it," Zhao Feng replied, unwilling to argue further.

"That's not blindness it's outright oblivion."

"Zhao, don't go around saying things like that. Look at the armor of the guards surrounding her. They're elite bodyguards, and each of them holds a rank no lower than a third-tier noble. This means she must be either a deputy general or someone directly serving the commander-in-chief," Wei Quan warned in a hushed tone.

"Relax, I won't say a word," Zhao Feng promised, dropping the matter altogether.

After issuing her orders, the general swiftly led her troops into the city.

"Brother Wei, I'm taking my men to move the bodies."

"Brothers!"

"Thirty of you handle the carts. The rest, come with me," Zhao Feng instructed his fifty subordinates.

As a newly promoted tunzhang (squad leader), Zhao Feng commanded fifty men under him. Now, he could focus solely on collecting attributes rather than wasting time carting bodies himself.

"Yes, sir!" The fifty soldiers responded in unison.

Zhao Feng then led his group to the battlefield, where they began moving bodies.

"Successfully collected +1 lifespan."

As soon as Zhao Feng lifted a corpse, he was immediately rewarded, a rare delight since lifespan attributes were harder to come by than strength or speed.

"Off to a good start. Let's keep it up," he thought with a smile.

"Successfully collected +1 speed."

"Successfully collected +1 strength."

Each touch with the corpses yielded small gains. Zhao Feng worked tirelessly, collecting attributes as he moved bodies.

"Successfully collected +5 strength from Qin junior officer."

Glancing at the arrow-riddled corpse before him, Zhao Feng sighed.

"Such a waste of life. Rest in peace," he murmured, placing the body on a cart and moving to the next one.

"Successfully collected +10 strength and +10 speed from Qin senior officer."

The rewards from higher-ranking officers were noticeably better. Zhao Feng lamented silently, "Rank doesn't matter when arrows rain down. Even a commander of a thousand troops ends up the same. Staying alive is what truly counts."

"Power and prestige are alluring, but life is more valuable," he mused.

"Qin Shi Huang's unification of the lands is a monumental feat, but who remembers the countless soldiers who perished for it?"

"No wonder they say, 'A general's success is built on a mountain of bones.'"

His modern perspective, shaped by history, made Zhao Feng acutely aware of the brutality of this era. He had no intention of sacrificing his life for royal ambitions he wanted to live for himself.

"Getting stronger is the only way to ensure no one can take my life."

"When all my attributes exceed 1,000, I'll be like an indestructible cockroach. It's hard to even imagine how powerful I'll be at that level," Zhao Feng thought to himself, determined to keep collecting attributes as quickly as possible.

Three thousand logistics soldiers worked efficiently to clear the battlefield. Within half a day, most of the bodies nearly 10,000 Qin soldiers were transported away. Meanwhile, 7,000 others were busy digging graves.

Everything proceeded in an orderly fashion.

"Being a tunzhang is nice. It saves me the time spent carting bodies back and forth."

"In just half a day, I've collected over 500 points of attributes."

"Open the attribute panel," Zhao Feng commanded.

Host: Zhao Feng

Age: 15

Strength: 458 (The stronger the attribute, the greater the explosive power.)

Speed: 312 (The higher the number, the faster the speed.)

Constitution: 265 (The better the constitution, the faster the recovery and stamina.)

Spirit: 268 (The higher the spirit, the sharper the mind; at certain levels, one can sense the world's energy.)

Lifespan: 86 years and 108 days

Personal Space: 2 cubic meters

"Most of the gains are in strength. My strength is almost 500 pounds now," Zhao Feng noted with satisfaction.

"Can't it be more balanced, though?"

Looking at his stats, Zhao Feng realized he was being a bit greedy while still reaping plenty of rewards.
