Chapter 696 - 696: 702

Chapter 696: 702

The sudden changes in the Tri-Floral Temple gave everyone quite a fright. Even though the grey sphere that hovered in mid-air didn’t exude any aura, it was a conspicuously out of place existence. Many people rushed forward, their faces filled with bewilderment as they looked to Yang Zhen.

There wasn’t a single fool among the crowd. When Yang Zhen and his sly cat arrived, there were first ear-deafening roars, followed by earth-shattering changes. The entire Tri-Floral Temple could very well be described as turned upside down. Despite becoming more beautiful and magnificent, it gave off an unsettling vibe, and no one dared to touch the grey sphere just like that.

This wasn’t about having a small heart, even the bravest had to consider their environment. This was, after all, the Tri-Floral Temple, the sacred place of the legendary Tri-Floral Saintess. The terrifying and evil aura that had earlier subdued everyone had now disappeared, but what exactly this grey sphere was, no one could tell.

Thinking about it, if this were something beneficial and easy to obtain, considering Yang Zhen’s personality, he would have pocketed it in no time. Could he have possibly waited for the crowd to gather around and look at it?

Of course, given Yang Zhen’s character, capable of being cheap to an astronomical level, he might have been purposely delaying claiming the sphere, just to give everyone a glimpse. All so he could gloat upon taking it amidst the envious, jealous, and resentful stares of the crowd.

This was very much a Yang Zhen thing to do!

A crowd of people were exchanging glances, looking between Yang Zhen and the dull grey sphere, before finally, all eyes settled on Yang Zhen.

Hua Youyue and Han Yan’er came up to Yang Zhen and asked in surprise, “What happened just now? Why did that evil aura disappear?”

Yang Zhen glanced at the two women and said, “It’s dead.”

“Dead?” Hua Youyue was taken aback, a complicated expression flashing in her eyes.

This complicated look made Yang Zhen pause, and he instinctively asked, “Did this remind you of something?”

Hua Youyue hesitated for a moment, then shook her head and said, “It did remind me of something, but it has nothing to do with this sphere or that evil aura. It’s just that in the Tri-Floral Temple, the Tri-Floral Saintess, seemed to have left something behind.”

Yang Zhen paused, then laughed and asked, “I thought so. The Tri-Floral Saintess reincarnated, wouldn’t she have left something behind? Do you remember where?”

Hua Youyue smiled and said, “I remember, but… I don’t plan on taking it.”

“Why?” Yang Zhen looked confused.

Not only was Yang Zhen astonished, but everyone around was also looking at Hua Youyue in surprise.

By now, through the conversation between Yang Zhen and Hua Youyue, everyone had basically confirmed that Hua Youyue was the reincarnation of the Tri-Floral Saintess, and that she had recalled the legacy within the Tri-Floral Temple. By rejecting such readily available inheritance, did Hua Youyue not want it?

While everyone was shocked, many also started to hatch plans. Since Hua Youyue did not want it, then the treasures in the Tri-Floral Temple were as good as ownerless. Whoever was destined would get them, and even if someone else received the inheritance, Hua Youyue couldn’t necessarily say anything about it.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Hua Youyue smiled and said, “The Tri-Floral Saintess was the Tri-Floral Saintess, and I am me. I… don’t intend to take her stuff.”

Yang Zhen laughed heartily, took Hua Youyue’s hand, and said, “Since you’ve decided this way, then let’s not proceed with the inheritance. If the Tri-Floral Saintess reincarnated, it would imply her previous path was flawed. Blindly following her would probably lead to repetition of failures. However, this sphere seems quite important to me. Do you have any recollection of it?”

Hua Youyue paused, looked at the dull grey sphere, then after a long while, shook her head and said, “I have no impression. This sphere doesn’t seem to have any aura, yet it feels highly unusual, like an integral part of the Tri-Floral Temple.”

Yang Zhen shrugged and said, “My friends, there is a good thing right here. It is said that after consuming it, one could become omnipotent, even able to accomplish anything instantly… Great lords, anybody wants it?”

Hearing Yang Zhen’s words, everyone’s expressions changed, and they instinctively took a couple of steps back.

Someone even snorted, “Yang Zhen, quit fooling around. If it really is that great, would you not want it?”

“Yes, if it is something good, you would have surely taken it away by now. You wouldn’t even let us take a look at it.”

Yang Zhen shrugged, stepped towards the grey sphere, and even touched it, saying, “This is your own choice, see? There is no danger at all. Maybe after consuming it, one could ascend directly. How about it?”

“Pfft, most likely it’s a one-way trip to hell, right, Yang Zhen? If you dare, eat this sphere in front of us. Let us see how.”

“Yeah, if you don’t eat it, it shows that this thing is extremely dangerous. You are such a cunning guy; even thinking of deceiving us, no chance.”

Yang Zhen grinned and said to Jie Mao, “Can you believe that people don’t trust the truth anymore? This is something left by a sacred master, are you sure you don’t want it?”

Chuckling, Yang exclaimed, “If you don’t want it, then neither do I, the Saint of Saosao!”

Everyone stumbled upon hearing this, nearly falling mid-air. They cursed at Yang Zhen, “Damn it, you sly bastard Yang Zhen, nothing true ever comes out of your mouth! And we considered standing together against a common enemy to help you against the Five Clans. Are you planning to harm us?”

Yang Zhen curled his lips, “Don’t exaggerate so much. When I, the Soaso Saint, get angry, even I am afraid of myself. I will punch you in the chest… What the hell, what is happening?”

Before he could finish his sentence, Yang Zhen got frightened and turned to run away.

The grey pearl seemed to have sensed something from Yang Zhen’s smell, it caused a wave of horrifying fluctuations on its surface, attempting to absorb Yang Zhen just like Void Power.

“Holy crap, bastard cat, save me! This pearl is a monster!” Violently running, Yang Zhen turned his head and saw the pearl chaotically chasing after him. With a wild yell, his face changed color.

“Dammit, this pearl is something a sacred master left behind. And it’s been left for so many years, it must have been a plaything for another sacred master or even an emperor.”

Suddenly being targeted by such an object was dangerous to the point of potentially not seeing tomorrow’s sun.

“Get out! I’m not tasty. Damn, I’ve not bathed for days, my flesh stinks…”

The group of people around watched with gaping mouths, Kua Hu’s mouth twitched continuously. What did he mean that this pearl was a monster?

The pearl’s nimble pursuit of Yang made it seem like a little demon, although it was indeed freaky, but monster? What the heck was he talking about?

Even the Jie Mao was taken aback, muttering to himself, “Damn, boy, just give in to the pearl, it might not be a bad thing.”

Yang Zhen glared and fiercely retorted to Jie Mao, “It’s not you being pursued by the pearl, what if I get swallowed by it?”

Boom——!

After unsuccessfully chasing Yang Zhen for a while, the pearl seemed to get angry. It exploded into horrifying Void Power and directly… burrowed into Yang Zhen’s stomach.

What a tsundere little pearl!

“Ah! Ah! Ah!” Scared out of his wits, Yang Zhen screamed, quickly opened his eyes, tore open his clothes, and peeked in. His expression rapidly shifted from horrified to weird.

Jie Mao’s eyes bulged in shock, and he hurriedly leaned in to take a look, “What’s happening? Is it there or not?”

Yang Zhen slapped Jie Mao’s head away, “It’s in your sister! Your thoughts are pretty dangerous, Comrade.”

After the pearl entered his body, nothing happened.

Yang Zhen could not feel anything, he couldn’t even find it. It was as if the pearl had passed straight through his body and disappeared to who knows where.

But, Yang Zhen was very sure that the pearl was somewhere inside him, although he couldn’t find it, there was a faint feeling emanating from within.

This pearl was somewhere in Yang Zhen’s body.

Just then, a loud rumbling echoed, and the entire Tri-Floral Temple started to collapse.

Everyone was frightened and started to scatter in all directions, screaming and wailing. Many people crawled and rolled in fear of being buried in the ruins of the Tri-Floral Temple.

Hua Youyue’s face turned pale, and she stumbled, caught off guard.
