Chapter 10: Warpath - Part 2
*Vilgax POV*
*Location: Interstellar Cruiser (Vilgax's Ship)*
*Date: 5040th Rotation/1995 Earth Year*
Looking through the list, I noticed several nearby planets that a Viltrumite or one of their slave species had conquered. The planet was Uraqu, a small planet that nearly counted as a Dwarf Planet but was still larger than one. The planet itself had a space-faring species that had recently joined the Viltrumite Empire, despite being so close to the Coalition of Planets, which I would need to...do something with eventually, even if I didn't want to join.
Their information could prove invaluable in the long run, alongside their vast database of planets that Viltrum has already conquered. Right now, though, I wanted to test my mettle against their armies, to gather more material and expand my own force. Even if they couldn't take on a Viltrumite head-on, even the Sobek pack I have would prove valuable in the long run. Mostly to keep the future newly reconquered species in check, to make sure they didn't report back to their masters, even if I was no longer scared of them.
Either way, this next planet should prove to be interesting, given its proximity to the Savage Planet, which likely led to the Viltrumits discovering it in the first place. Either way, the humanoids that currently inhabited the planet were tall and thin, with pale skin and beady black eyes, the typical alien humans think of when they think of aliens, only they were barely above average in the intelligence department, and lacked any natural fighting abilties.
Perfect place to start my little campaign against the Empire, and perhaps teach those who willingly bowed to them that karma was very real. It would take a bit to reach their planet, but it would also give me a chance to map out more Viltrumite-controlled planets and to mentally prepare myself for the coming slaughter, for the terrified screams, and the nightmares to join all the others that had stalled and became nothing more than background noise.
I press a few buttons and begin powering up my various drones, ready to invade the planet as several key locations are marked on a small screen embedded in my left armrest. Each one was a key part in their resource gathering and in the creation of their starships, and while I was sure the conquered Viltrumite species helped one another in some way, I was guessing the Viltrumites themselves wanted to keep them seperate and on a tight leash, as tight as possible anyway.
I pressed an intercom device and sent up a voice command to all my drones that were either powered up or currently powering up.
"All scout-class drones scan the planet for any useful material and mark it for the warrior-class to minimize destruction of usable material."
"All activated warrior-class ready for drop and send all distress signals to the nearest available scout or warrior for reinforcements, and all Viltrumite-related activity is to be reported directly to the command center immediately."
As the ship's systems roar to life, a literal swarm of drones left my ship, built over the long time I spent coming toward this planet and during my training on the Savage Planet. While these drones could help with the initial invasion, my warriors were more built for that, and in helping tear apart any reusable materials or machines. Either way, staring down at the planet, the species tried to contact me a few times, either trying to threaten me or state my intentions, but it didn't matter, though, as i simply watched and put a crude world map on a much larger screen with several key locations mapped out already and new ones being added.
Soon enough, I pressed a few buttons, opening various hatches allowing my arriors to launch out and begin the invasion proper. My warriors descended on the planet one by one, starting in a tube before transforming into their much more larger and impressive selfs, and as they all activated screens descended all around me, each one video footage from a first-person POV, and showing them rampage across key miltiary and infrastructure, tearing it apart as plasma bounced off their exterior, and the warriors switched targets, targeting the militay.
I then began seeing something on my long-range scanners. Right now, it was barely out of reach, but it wouldn't be long before they got in range for a more thorough scan. I began pressing a few more buttons as parts of my ship turned over, shifted, and changed into battle mode, both plasma and sonic-based weaponry, as right now I had no good way to fight in space, so what was I going to do?
If the new potential combatant turned out to be an enemy, either reinforcements or a Viltrumite, my ship would be ready to force them planetside. I then turned back my attention to the battle, and as the local species tried and failed to mount a defense using the technology gifted to them by the Viltrumites for their loyalty, and as a reminder of how far more advanced civilizations were ended by their hands.
Either way, while my machines weren't the most advanced, they were beyond the most durable and deadly, as I had to modify them sometimes on Savage Planet, which was both a mistake and a blessing in disguise as I was able to make extremmly durable weapons that, while they didn't become any faster or stronger under normal gravity, were far more durable than normal.
Meaning this planet lacked the necessary firepower to pierce their defenses, and their own weaponry was adequate enough to go against them. Sure, I was by no means a master of robotics, but over time, they would improve, rebuild, and the tech used by my enemies reused for them. As for how I would keep them under my control, well, I developed quite the insidious AI. It started as a thought project, something to ponder over whilst my body healed, but during the time I spent coming here, well, it had grown.
I call it WORM, not really an acronym but rather a name for an insidious little virus that will help me keep watch on their communications, weapons, and anything else that would be deemed a threat to my own expanding influence.
Then my scanners started actually picking up on how large the object was, and to my surprise...it was rather larger, and there were multiple of them. Meaning that this was, at best, support from another conquered species or their own ships returning hope after a long campaign/allowed by their Viltrumite masters. I pressed a few buttons and turned on the ship's defenses, and a few other buttons.
Ones that would get a large sphere ready for my launch, as I would take care of the ships myself, whilst my forces continue to decimate the planet. Getting up, I began walking toward the shuttles, stretching out my body and getting ready for a fight as I grabbed a couple of simple knuckledusters made from Sobeks, not as strong as a Rognarr, but they do the job and help keep my hands a little cleaner. Either way, as I am right now, I was ready for a fight regardless of the species, and considering how close they were to each other, well, it would be easy enough to get from ship to ship, and breathe in space thanks to my little oxygen mask.
As I walked to my chamber, my communications systems buzzed as both the fleet and planet tried to contact me, and well, I only had interest in talking to one of them at the moment.
"Computer, open communication channels with enemy ships."
As I said so I saw the faces of my new target, which were of the same species as the planet I was currently conquering. Their tall, lanky bodies are nearly out of shot as their large heads and black eyes would terrify a normal human. I, however, just looked at them with disgust, now knowing they served my enemy.
"Attacking Vessel, you are to immediately disengage and prepare to be boarded, and to surrender yourself to the Viltrumite Empire." They said with a calm and praticed tone.
As I entered the shuttle area, where my sphere, a large black one that was being prepped for launch.
"To the pest who serve the Viltrmites, know this: you are conquered twice now, once by my enemy and now by your new ruler, and prepare for destruction and pray to any god you worship for mercy, for I will have none."
"Computer, close communication channel and prepare for launch."
Then instantly, just as it began, I closed communications and entered my sphere as the shuttle doors opened, pointed directly at the enemy ships. I pressed a few buttons and strapped myself in as the gears outside shifted a bit and prepared me for launch. I then felt a shake as my sphere launched out into space at high speed, hurdling toward the enemy ships as I believe they began opening fire on both me and my ship.
Then, with a sudden crash, I felt my ship stop as I reached my intended target, and as the sphere opened up, I was greeted with a barrage of plasma fire. Stepping out of my sphere, I saw that my enemy was wearing heavy, dark gray armor with thin/long plasma rifles as they opened fire on me. Then, with a slight neck stretch, I charged forward, ignoring the plasma fire as they connected with my skin, my training showing clear results as my skin had grown far more durable than before.
Then, with raised fists, I began smashing through the soldiers, tearing them apart as I grabbed heavy pieces of equipment and tossed them all around, both aiming for soldiers and for important-looking objects/sections. That was just the start to my rampage, as I rapidly moved throughout the large ship, doing everything I could to trash it and leave it as scrap, knowing I would salvage any useful material or technology later, well, the stuff I left unbroken anyway.
Soon enough, instead of sending more bodies at me, the commander of this ship sounded a full alarm and ordered everyone to retreat and evacuate to another ship. Well, all that did was give me a new target as I worked my way through the rest of the ship, going out of my way to destroy the engine room without blowing the whole thing up, and slamming bodies againts the ground and wall, or crushign them with my fist, or in most cases just smashing their skulls.
I could also hear the faint sound of escape pods launching, well, between the alarms anyway, as the ship was on red alert, my enemy clearly not expecting someone of my caliber to invade them.
Either way, it didn't matter, as I told them when they first hailed me. Pray to your gods, after all, they may be more merciful than I was.
