IRON MAN: BROTHER DON'T CAUSE TROUBLE

Chapter 45: 45. Avengers Assemble

Asgard

The city itself, a marvel of celestial architecture, was alive with the faint hum of magic—runes embedded in the golden walls flickered, their light pulsating like the heartbeats of the gods.

Deep within the Royal Palace, past the towering pillars and grand halls adorned with murals of Asgardian victories, lay the Chamber of Odin's Sleep.

A sacred silence hung over the chamber, disturbed only by the faint flickering of the blue and golden flames dancing along the edges of the ancient runes carved into the marble floor.

Upon the golden dais, Odin Allfather rested—his mighty form unmoving, encased in the deep stasis of the Odin Sleep. His silver beard cascaded down his chest, his golden armor gleaming faintly under the dim glow of enchanted torches. The air around him was heavy with power, swirling in unseen currents as if the very fabric of reality acknowledged the slumber of a god.

Suddenly—

His eyelids trembled.

For the briefest of moments, the mighty king's fingers twitched, and the flow of magic in the chamber shuddered. A silent storm passed through the air, invisible but potent, stirring the floating specks of golden dust lingering in the divine glow.

Then—calm.

The trembling ceased, and once more, Odin's form became still. The power that had rippled through the air vanished as if it had never existed.

The torches dimmed. The runes settled.

The Allfather slept on.

---

Earth, New York

The battlefield, once filled with the sounds of gunfire and explosions, had fallen eerily silent. The streets were littered with the lifeless bodies of Chitauri, their neural link severed after Tony Stark had destroyed the mothership. Smoke still rose from crumbling buildings, the scent of burning metal and destruction heavy in the air.

But now, something far worse had appeared.

Towering over the ruins of New York at an unfathomable 200 meters tall, the Destroyer stood like an avatar of annihilation. Its armor was pitch-black, reflecting no light, and its eyes burned with an unnatural crimson glow. Each step it took made the ground tremble, sending cracks spider-webbing through the streets. A dark aura pulsed around it, distorting the air, and waves of pure dread radiated from its massive frame.

Watching this unfold, the Avengers, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and the millions watching the live broadcast all stood frozen in shock. Even the civilians, who had just started crawling out of hiding spots, stopped in terror, their eyes glued to the monstrous entity that had taken the place of the Chitauri army.

Inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Nick Fury and Maria Hill watched the screen, expressions grim.

"Sir… what is that thing?" Maria asked, her usual calm demeanor shaken.

Fury, gripping the railing tightly, exhaled through his nose. "A problem. A big damn problem."

Back on the battlefield, the Avengers regrouped, forming a circle, eyes locked onto the Destroyer as it slowly advanced.

"Alright," Tony spoke first, scanning the massive figure with his HUD. "That's new. Anyone else getting 'we are so screwed' vibes, or is it just me?"

"It's not just you," Hawkeye muttered, gripping his bow tightly. "That thing makes the Leviathan look like a house cat."

Steve Rogers, still catching his breath from the last battle, tightened his grip on his shield. "We need a plan. Fast."

"We should attack together," Natasha suggested, reloading her pistols.

"No," John cut in, stepping forward. His gaze was locked onto the Destroyer, studying its movements. "We need power, not numbers. That thing is unlike anything we've faced before."

"Agreed," Thor spoke, his voice serious. He gripped Mjolnir, its surface crackling with electricity. "This is a force beyond mortal understanding. Only the strongest among us should stand against it."

"So what, the rest of us just stand around and do nothing?" Clint asked, raising an eyebrow.

Thor turned to him. "Not at all. You will be crucial in another task—finding Loki."

The Avengers exchanged looks. It made sense. Loki had summoned this thing, and he had to be nearby, pulling the strings.

"Fine," Steve said. "Then who's fighting that thing?"

There was a brief silence before Hulk let out a low, rumbling growl.

"HULK SMASH."

"Yeah, no surprises there," Tony smirked. "Hulk, you just want to punch something."

"Hulk angry," Hulk grunted.

Thor stepped forward. "I will fight as well. A battle of this scale… it calls for the might of a god."

"That makes two," Steve nodded. He turned to John. "You're the strongest one left, John. You in?"

John exhaled, "I've already killed one monster today. What's one more?"

Tony clapped his hands. "Great, so the three strongest badasses take on the Walking Apocalypse, while the rest of us go play hide-and-seek with Loki. Sounds fair."

Steve looked at the Destroyer and shouted in a loud voice, "Avengers Assemble!"

"Hurray!!!" Tony echoed.

---

Thor, John, and Hulk stepped forward while the others scattered to search for Loki.

As if sensing their challenge, the Destroyer stopped walking. It turned its burning red eyes toward them.

And then—it moved.

The Destroyer was fast—far faster than something that size had any right to be. With a single step, it crossed the battlefield, its massive arm swinging down toward them.

"Move!" John shouted.

Hulk leaped away, Thor flew upward, and John vanished in a burst of wind, reappearing on a building.

BOOM!

The Destroyer's fist smashed into the street, shattering it into a crater. The shockwave sent debris flying in all directions.

John, after stabilizing himself, was the first to strike. He summoned a swirling inferno and launched a barrage of fireballs at the Destroyer's legs. The flames exploded against its dark armor, but the beast barely flinched.

Hulk roared and leaped, bringing both fists down like a meteor. The impact sent shockwaves through the battlefield, but the Destroyer merely staggered back before retaliating.

With a monstrous sweep of its arm, it unleashed a devastating energy wave. John barely managed to raise a barrier of ice to shield himself, while Hulk was sent skidding across the ruined street.

Thor hurled Mjolnir with all his might. The hammer smashed into the Destroyer's chest, causing sparks and cracks to appear on its armor. Lightning crackled around the Asgardian as he called down a thunderstorm, bolts raining from the sky in a dazzling display of power.

Yet, the Destroyer was relentless. It stomped forward, the ground shaking beneath its feet, and swung its massive arm at Thor. The impact sent the God of Thunder flying through a crumbling building.

John narrowed his eyes.

Hulk, now angrier than ever, launched himself back into the fray. He grabbed onto the Destroyer's leg and tried to rip it apart, but the creature merely kicked him aside.

Thor emerged from the wreckage, shaking off the debris. "This foe is mightier than I anticipated."

John hovered in the air, his hands glowing with raw elemental energy. "Then we hit it harder!"

With a flick of his wrist, he summoned jagged ice spikes from the ground, piercing through the Destroyer's armor. At the same time, Thor swung Mjolnir in a circle, creating a tornado that lifted the creature off its feet momentarily.

Hulk used that moment to leap onto its back, smashing its head repeatedly. "STAY DOWN!" he roared.

But the Destroyer refused to fall. Instead, its chest plate slid open, revealing a blinding core of energy.

Tony, watching from a distance, muttered, "Oh, that's not good."

A beam of pure destruction erupted from its core, tearing through buildings and nearly vaporizing John mid-air. He barely dodged in time, his arm getting scorched in the process.

"Okay, that was way too close," John grunted.

Thor raised Mjolnir high. "We must not falter! If we fall, so does this city!"

"Thor, buddy, motivational speeches later!" Tony called out. "That thing is still kicking your butts!"

Meanwhile, in his mind, Tony kept praying, John, stay safe.

Despite the overwhelming force against them, the three warriors refused to back down. They fought with everything they had, attacking from every angle, but the Destroyer simply would not fall.

---

Natasha, Clint, Steve, and Tony scoured the battlefield, searching through the debris. They finally found Loki hiding near a collapsed building, watching the chaos unfold with a smug grin.

Steve pointed his shield at him. "Loki. It's over."

Loki chuckled. "Oh, Captain… you never learn, do you?"

Tony didn't waste time with words. He was aware that the longer the fight went on, the higher the possibility that John could get injured—or worse. He didn't want to take any chances. So, without hesitation, Tony punched Loki directly in the face, swiftly disarmed him, and pinned him to the ground. "Not so smug now, are you?"

Loki smirked. "Do you truly think capturing me will stop the Destroyer?"

Natasha, standing on the side, flicked her gaze toward the crystal staff nearby—the same staff Loki had used to summon the Destroyer. Even though she didn't know exactly how to stop it, her intuition told her the staff had something to do with it.

She made a quick decision.

She grabbed the staff, twisting it in her grip. The moment she did, the Destroyer—mid-battle—froze in place.

Thor, John, and Hulk all paused, watching in confusion as the massive beast trembled.

Then—its body began to distort. The energy within it surged wildly, and with one final, deafening explosion, the Destroyer imploded into a vortex of energy, vanishing as quickly as it had arrived.

The battlefield fell silent.

Thor exhaled. "By the gods… it is done."

Hulk snorted. "Hmph. Hulk wants to smash more."

Tony landed beside them, looking at the spot where the Destroyer had stood moments ago. "Well. No need to thank me for saving the day."

John let out a breath. "Yeah, yeah, thanks a lot."

Steve and Clint arrived, dragging a restrained Loki with them.

Tony smirked. "Hey, Reindeer Games. Looks like you lost again."

Loki glared at him but said nothing.

Natasha spun the staff in her hand before handing it over to Thor. "Here. Keep this thing away from crazy people next time."

Thor nodded. "A wise decision."

With the portal now closed and the battle finally over, the Avengers stood amidst the ruins of New York, victorious.

For the first time in hours, peace had returned.

Loki, now captured, was escorted away as the team took a moment to breathe.

The battle for New York… was finally over.
