Is It Wrong To Love My StepBrother Alpha Mate?

Chapter 12: Morning Training

Helena was up early the next day. She knew she needed to get her blood pumping and she needed to clear her head.

Last night felt like a dream and a nightmare all rolled into one.

As she returned to the pack house from her jog, she spotted several members of their pack heading towards the training grounds.

"What's going on?" she asked Neil Jacks as he exited the packhouse.

"Training," he shrugged.

"Do you think I can join?" she asked him.

Neil chuckled and shook his head. "I don't think anyone will stop the Alpha's daughter or the pack's future Luna."

"I'm not the future Luna," Helena argued as she felt her cheeks turn red.

"Whatever, Luna, come on," Neil said as he laughed at her expense and nudged her shoulder. "Go tell Romeo that. He's had his mind set that you're his mate since we were kids."

"Didn't you say he met someone?" Helena asked, even if she knew well enough that she was that same someone.

"He forgot about her the moment he saw you," Neil told her with an all too serious expression on his face.

"So, does Gamma Norris still lead training?" Helena asked as she changed the topic.

She'd spent a lot of time training with the Blackmoon Pack both before and after her father's death.

Blackmoon was Stonehill's closest pack and ally. They shared a border, and now their Alphas were related through marriage.

'We'd be one pack if the Alpha was our mate,' her wolf quipped.

'Other packs would see that as a threat, and Uncle Jeremiah is young, his mate is young, he can still have a proper heir,' she reminded Hera.

The training grounds were a large complex that had a gym, an oval, and a sparring area. The complex that greeted her was larger than the one she'd seen on her last visit.

"We updated," Neil shrugged. "Romeo's little project. We've also updated the equipment. Come on, we don't want to be late."

To Helena's surprise, there were over fifty wolves stretching and warming up. When she would train here, there were much less, and now there were more women.

Some familiar members of the pack approached her and asked after her. Some of them were her old classmates while others were people she knew before leaving.

The sparring area was bustling with chatter when a shrill whistle pierced through the air, and Gamma Norris stepped onto a platform with Neil and another of Romeo's friends by his side.

"Pair up!" he announced.

Helena's gaze met Neil's, who gave her a nod in return.

He knew she was strong and was willing to be her sparring partner for the morning.

Just as Helena moved to meet him on the mats, Sara made an appearance and blocked her way.

"What are you doing here, slut?" Sara asked while she was flanked by several other girls. "Done fucking the Alpha so you decided to move on with the rest of the males of our pack?"

"I'm not sure Gamma Norris will appreciate your language on the mats," Helena pointed out.

As Gamma he was in charge of security, training, and discipline of the pack. He was the Alpha's third in command, and right now, he was the highest-ranked wolf of the Blackmoon pack in the room.

"Look at you flinging his name around, did you fuck the old man too?" Sara asked with a bite in her tone.

"Why did you?" Helena asked with a hand on her hip and a raised eyebrow.

Sara glared at her and growled, "I'm gonna wipe this mat with your ass, bitch!"

"You sure about that?" Neil asked from the side as he watched.

"I'm the daughter of warriors, the granddaughter of warriors," Sara hissed.

Helena sighed and shook her head.

'This bitch has way too much confidence,' she told her wolf.

'So why don't we knock her down a peg,' Hera said, sounding a little too eager to fight.

'I don't even know where this one came from,' Helena sighed. 'I don't remember her in high school.'

"Neither Dad nor Romeo would appreciate me getting in a fight with you," Helena pointed out.

"Scared to lose to me?" Sara challenged.

Neil snorted at Sara's comment but the shewolf took it as a vote of confidence in her direction, so she double downed.

"Or are you trying to get the Beta to fuck you too so you plan to seduce him on the mats?" Sara challenged.

"Where is Sara getting the balls to do this?" Helena heard someone whisper behind her.

"Right, the Alpha's daughter? Would you really challenge someone like her?" someone asked as well.

Helena let out a sigh and shook her head.

If Sara wanted to fight, then she was going to fight.

"Fine," Helena said as she gave Neil a nod.

The Beta ran up to Gamma Norris, who was speaking to several wolves, and whispered something to the older man.

Gamma Norris's gaze rose to meet Helena's, and she simply nodded in response.

She would have to hold back.

"Clear the center mat," Gamma Norris's voice echoed through the sparring area as space was made.

Helena stretched a bit as Sara laughed with her friends, probably mocking Helena.

"She's crazy," Neil said as he stood next to Helena.

"Well, someone has to put her in her place," Helena said as she patted Neil's shoulder and stepped onto the mat.

Seeing that Helena was ready, Sara stepped onto the mat as well with a confident pose.

"You can still back out," Sara called out. "Just admit you're a whore and that you're trying to steal my mate."

"Your mate?" Helena chuckled. "I can't wait for the Blood Moon Ball then."

Helena might have sounded confident, but doubts raced through her mind.

What if Sara was Romeo's mate?

What if Sara was the woman that would make her biggest fears come to life?

Helena shoved the thoughts away, thinking the Moon Goddess would not be so cruel to Romeo or the Blackmoon pack.

Romeo deserved a better mate, and Sara was not Luna material.

Helena heard a growl as Sara lunged at her, aiming to tackle her to the ground, and Helena grinned.

She was going to enjoy putting Sara in her place.
