Isekaied As A Trash Noble, I will Live A Slow Life!

Chapter 12: Observation

There were three reasons why Niyue was a bitch.

Number one, she stank. Like she was perpetually sweaty or something.

Number two, she messed around with the boys, and even went on camping with them; tomboy didn't even begin to describe her. She probably didn't sleep with them but I couldn't say for sure.

And number three, she was the literal reason I got cucked hard at the academy and was thrown out.

She was indeed… a bitch. No, wait. Those are David's thoughts and memories. Maybe he just overexaggerated and hated her? Definitely possible. At the very least, I didn't like her. Then again, mostly from the perspective that my ex was sort of like that.

If she's coming in a week, I still have time. My destination was my room but I kept walking past it and the maid, Airy had to pat on my shoulder to remind me that I had in fact walked past my room, again.

Well, she's a child and I'm an adult. It should be fine, right?

"Sir, I would suggest you rest your tired mind," she said at some point.

"Yeah."

It wasn't even noon yet but I was already exhausted. Partly from the morning session but also from thinking about her… about that… girl.

I never really liked her. From the moment I met her, to the moment we parted ways. I didn't like her one bit.

When I first went into the academy, she was feeding a cat. What a nice girl! Once done, she kicked the cat, laughed like the little piece of shit she was and walked away. I didn't give a rat's ass for a cat but David knew she was evil, or at least swore by it. There were other reasons to think so too. David often caught her dumping laxatives to other people's drinks and watching with smirks and giggles from across the hallway as splattering sounds and cries of poor innocent children reverberated through the halls…. Were those kids innocent though? Didn't matter.

Anyway… "Molly?" Oh yeah, she wasn't here… grumbling… "Airy."

"Yes, sir?"

"I didn't have tea today so far, so, may I?"

"Of course, sir!"

I closed my eyes while she went to fetch me some tea. I ended up falling asleep and dreaming.

Dreaming about… her.

About how she used to make fun of David and… and Airy woke me up. Tea had arrived.

Fuck, I needed some.

***

When I eventually woke up, it was evening. Airy had nodded off by my bed and the tea had obviously gone cold. So, I drink tea even in my fucking dreams?

I sighed and rested my head against the pillow, staring at the familiar ceiling.

Lots of new shit are happening. I suppose this was expected since I was different and doing different things but… I really didn't want to do anything with that girl.

Sighing again, I sat down and dangled my feet which didn't quite reach the floor. Still, I suppose it is what it is… Memories weren't that reliable, and I mostly remembered David's feelings toward her. Let's just wait and see.

For the next few days, I kept up my daily routine of running around, eating snacks, drinking less tea, trying to sneak into the library and failing… the usual. Yet as the fated day was getting closer, I was starting to get more and more delirious lines of thoughts. Niyue was the daughter of an influential count, and if I played my cards right, I could play her. She could play you as well. Or, if we could come to an understanding… hmm….

Rolling my eyes, I tried thinking about other things. About other ways. The more I thought, the more it got hazy, and the less sleepy I felt.

Great cycle.

Groaning, I tossed and turned, and I tossed and turned.

"Just go to sleep already…" A sleepy Molly said, entering the room with a candle. "Please?"

How the hell did she know that I was still awake? Those ears are no joke, huh?

"Okay, okay."

But I couldn't sleep, that was the point!

Molly snuffed out the candle and climbed on my bed and fell asleep next to me. I didn't know why but Niyue just vanished from my mind as I stared at the maid's fluffy ears and went to sleep; her purrs were soothing.

A carriage stopped by the entrance. I observed from the second floor. Some soldiers, some commotion. Nothing new.

She's different. No, smaller. I suppose that was normal. David had met her when they were fifteen. She doesn't look 'that' evil.

"You look wonderful, sir," Molly said.

Even Airy gave me a nod of approval.

I caught a quick glance of myself in the window. Finely combed hair, a black suite with a red shirt underneath and a golden watch sitting pretty in my pocket with its hanging chain. I liked it but it was heavy.

"Thank you."

Even if only for appearance's sake, I had to do this.

By the time Niyue had entered, I was already on my way. Dominic and Damian were there. Damian motioned for me to be on his right so I stood next to him.

Steps reverberated.

A golden-haired girl entered. An entourage of seven knights and three servants entered along with her but moved aside.

"Welcome," Dominic said. "To the house of Galford. I am Dominic Galford, the viscount overseeing these vast lands. This is my son, Damian, and David."

Her eyes fell on my brother first and I could have sworn they opened wide once. She stared at me for a second and glanced back at Father.

Braided golden locks, slightly chubby yet perfectly symmetrical face. So symmetrical that she sometimes felt like a frigging doll. White, as in porcelain white. She wore a smile but… but… was she smiling?

Although twelve. I thought she was small. But she was at least three inches taller. Sort of good-looking. Definitely not as ugly as David's memories.

"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance," Niyue said, bowing while tilting the hem of her skirt. "Niyue Vien Barrets, third daughter of Count Alzim Barrets."

Her etiquette was perfect.

Her tone, even more so.

From her point of view, perhaps she wasn't wrong at all. Perhaps I was the one wrong.

However- no, don't jump to conclusions. David thought a lot of weird shit, and did a lot of weird shit. First watch things out, observe….

So, I observed.
