It's Troublesome That My Doting Dad Became A Villain

chapter 143

A chill ran down my spine.

Did he already figure it out?
Thinking about it, it would’ve been stranger if he hadn’t. Prima and Meteor had exactly the same voice.
No matter how much Prima covered his face, it was only natural that suspicion would arise.

What should I say to deflect this?
Would he believe it if I just said it was a coincidence that their voices were alike?
I was trying to turn toward Meteor, caught in an awkward dilemma, when Prima grumbled beside me.

“What do you mean, the same? My voice is far more beautiful and charming.”
“!”
Unbelievable. The audacity.

If you’re going to lie, at least put some effort into it.
I smacked my lips in frustration and glanced at Meteor’s expression.
As expected, he let out a cold laugh.

“Crescent. Do you seriously think that makes any sense?”
No.
No, I don’t…

But I couldn’t tell the truth, either.
Should Meteor really know that Prima was himself from another dimension?
Just thinking about the shock he’d feel made it clear—I needed to hide the truth as much as I could.

If I learned that another version of me existed in a different world, I’d probably fall apart too.
I rolled my eyes and feigned innocence.
“Hmm? Do they really sound the same?”
I looked between Meteor and Prima.

Meteor’s eyes turned frosty. He looked at me like I’d betrayed him.
Then Prima leaned close and whispered, like he wanted Meteor to hear.
“My voice is better, right?”

I swear, I can’t even hit this guy.
I gave him a sideways glare.
“You’re still a demon, you know. Even if your voice is dipped in honey, you think that makes you better than a human?”

“Pfft. How cold.”
Prima spoke like he was hurt, though his face showed nothing but smug shamelessness. I almost rolled my eyes out of my head.
Even now, I still couldn’t fully believe that someone like him could be Meteor.

Then Meteor let out a sigh and gave a bitter smile, as if he’d expected all this from the start.
“Fine. Let’s say the voices are different. Even so, Duke of Dimensions—you’re coming with me.”
“?”

Prima responded openly, his tone clearly offended.
“Why should I go with you? I’m going to protect Crescent.”
“Crescent doesn’t need protection from the likes of you.”

The tension between them was sharp.
Meteor glared at Prima with open disdain. Prima, too, looked clearly displeased.
I stood between them, my mind going blank.

Guys… please stop fighting…
Even though half his face was hidden, Prima radiated pure irritation with every inch of his body.
Why was he being so wary of himself?

If it were me, I’d probably be curious and even kind to another version of myself.
“Hey, guys!”
I couldn’t take it anymore and shouted.

Both Meteors—ugh, both of them—looked at me with reluctant expressions.
“If you’re going to keep acting like this, then fine! All of us are going together. We’re taking this path. Got it?”
I pointed decisively at the path I’d chosen.

Prima pursed his lips in dissatisfaction. Meteor didn’t look thrilled either, but I didn’t care.
Wasting time arguing was pointless. It was better to just pick a path and move on.

Prima stepped forward first.
“Well, if you insist, I guess I’ll follow.”
Huh. He’s actually listening for once.

Now, what about you, Meteor?
I looked at him, silently asking. Meteor sighed quietly, clearly resigned.
“Fine.”

At last, Meteor started following as well.
Relieved, I began walking. Suddenly, a wave of exhaustion washed over me.
It was just walking down a path—why did it feel so draining?

I never imagined both versions of Meteor would make me this tired.
Right now, more than anything, I just wanted them both to disappear from my sight for a while.
Almost as if he sensed my thoughts, Prima whispered,

“Crescent, this isn’t my fault. That holy knight tried to take me with him.”
“You shut up.”
I cut him off coldly.

At least he obeyed for once and shut his mouth.
Step, shuffle, thud…
The sound of our three sets of footsteps echoed oddly in sync.

Prima, Meteor, and I, all in the same place.
I had to work hard not to think about it.
Looking around, there still wasn’t much—just swaying, fern-like black weeds in every direction.

Where was the Soul Thorn?
Breaking the silence, Prima spoke ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) again.
“By the way, Meteor Pluto, I must thank you. Helping me look for the bouquet I’m going to give to Crescent—it’s really quite generous of you.”

“….”
What the hell…
Why was he so intent on poking at Meteor?

It felt like I was the only one stressed out in the middle of all this.
Meteor, sounding slightly amused, replied,
“Why do you think you’ll be the one to give it to her? I might find it first.”

Seriously, I couldn’t with these two.
Maybe because they were both Meteors, neither could just let anything go.
Hey, what is wrong with you guys?

A deep sigh—or rather, a deep frustration—welled up inside me, but I didn’t want to yell at Meteor.
After all, it was natural for a holy knight to be wary of a demon.
Especially if that demon kept provoking him.

Prima opened his mouth again.
“Oh? Are you challenging me? No need to go through the trouble, Meteor. I’ll be the one handing Crescent that bouquet anyway.”
“And you just keep saying things you can’t follow through on. You’ll regret it.”

“Think you can make me?”
“Oh my god, both of you shut up. No, be quiet. Meteor, be quiet. Prima, shut it.”
“….”

“….”
At last, peace returned to this wretched demon realm.
My heart relaxed and a warm sense of satisfaction filled me.

Yes, this—this quiet was perfect.
Meteor and Prima walked silently, not even making a sound as they breathed. It was so quiet, it felt like the air had frozen—but I didn’t care.
Now, finally, I could focus on finding the Soul Thorn!

With a refreshed feeling, I walked across the grass. The black weeds crunched underfoot.
How long had we walked?
Up ahead, the path split into three.

There were three of us, and now there were three paths—what a coincidence.
Each route was flanked by towering cliffs and thick, tangled vines. Once someone entered a path, there’d be no switching midway.
Meteor spoke, sounding cautious.

“Looks like they want to separate us.”
“Could be,” Prima agreed.
Wow. They’re finally agreeing on something?

Just as I was starting to feel a bit relieved, Meteor added,
“I wasn’t talking to you, demon of dimensions.”
“I was talking to myself.”

“….”
Ugh!
Prima I could understand—but why was Meteor going along with it?

Clicking my tongue, I spoke firmly.
“Let’s split up here. I’ll take the leftmost path. You guys figure out the rest. Hopefully one of us finds the Soul Thorn. You’re all going to give it to me anyway.”
“Then I’ll take the path right next to yours,” Prima said with a grin as he stepped close. He seemed to be aiming for the middle path.

Meteor stared at him for a moment.
I braced myself, worried they’d start fighting again, but Meteor quietly turned away.
He headed toward the path on the far right.

“See you later, Crescent,” he said.
“Yeah. Good luck!”
“Crescent, I’d like a word of encouragement too.”

“Just get moving already.”
Even at my scolding, Prima’s lips curled into a soft smile.
