Chapter 258: Chapter 259
After enduring the catastrophic Chō Shinra Tensei and the explosion of the Truth-Seeking Ball, the ruins of Mount Myōboku sank even deeper into the earth.
A bitter, frigid wind swept across the desolate land, as if lamenting the last moments of its master.
Gensou and the Great Toad Sage stood facing one another.
The wind carried away some of the dust on their bodies, bringing a fleeting coolness to the tense battlefield.
The Great Toad Sage narrowed its eyes.
Amid the brief reprieve, its attention turned to the "oil" symbol etched on the cat's-eye stone hanging from its neck.
"Grandpa Toad! Let me out! I can fight too!" Naruto's voice echoed incessantly from within the stone.
Though sealed inside, Naruto could clearly see everything happening outside.
Witnessing the battle unfold from the Great Toad Sage's perspective, he was awestruck by its sheer intensity.
Even as a mere observer, Naruto felt his heart race.
Gensou's overwhelming power left Naruto with a rare sense of helplessness.
However!
Seeing the once-harmonious and beautiful Mount Myōboku reduced to ashes, and the Great Toad Sage now maimed and in dire straits, Naruto clenched his fists and reignited his indomitable spirit to fight.
The problem was...
Even now, the Great Toad Sage showed no intention of releasing him to join the battle.
If this continued, the Great Toad Sage might truly meet its end!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Naruto shouted and swung his fists furiously, determined to break the seal before him.
"Kid, that strength won't be enough."
Suddenly, Kurama's voice echoed in Naruto's mind.
Naruto paused, responding instinctively in his thoughts:
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you need greater power! So... let's work together."
"Huh?"
The Great Toad Sage withdrew its attention, ignoring Naruto's plea.
Gensou's gaze shifted from the cat's-eye stone on the sage's neck back to the sage itself.
Even now, the Great Toad Sage refused to release Naruto?
As the reincarnation of Asura, a Jinchūriki of Kurama, and a user of Sage Mode, Naruto still had significant combat potential.
Gensou couldn't comprehend the Great Toad Sage's reasoning.
Its current state was dire—releasing Naruto might have allowed him to escape, if nothing else.
Keeping him hanging around its neck... was it expecting Gensou to defeat it and claim him as loot?
Such consideration was almost too generous.
Shaking his head, Gensou dismissed the thought.
Killing the Great Toad Sage would resolve everything.
Without hesitation, he stepped forward, gripping a black rod as he charged the sage once more, flanked by two floating Truth-Seeking Balls.
The Great Toad Sage, now wary of the Truth-Seeking Balls' power, maintained its shrunken state and leapt backward to retreat.
But in the next instant, one of the Truth-Seeking Balls elongated into an arrow and shot toward the sage in mid-air.
The effective radius of a Truth-Seeking Ball was seventy meters.
Given Gensou's initiative and the sage's weakened state, it couldn't maintain enough distance to escape completely.
Seeing the unavoidable Truth-Seeking Ball arrow slicing through the air, the Great Toad Sage opened its mouth and fired a senjutsu-infused water bullet.
Bang!
While the Truth-Seeking Ball couldn't nullify senjutsu, it easily dispersed the incoming water bullet.
The water bullet had done its job, however, giving the sage enough time to leap out of range.
The Truth-Seeking Ball retracted back into its spherical form and returned to Gensou's side.
"Afraid to fight up close? That's not your choice to make," Gensou said coldly, his Rinnegan activating.
"Banshō Ten'in!"
Powerful gravitational force gripped the Great Toad Sage.
Unlike before, when its massive form had remained stationary, the now human-sized sage struggled but was ultimately pulled toward Gensou.
While Mount Myōboku's toads could shrink themselves with a secret technique, this didn't mean their original density remained unchanged.
If the sage's immense body were compressed into human size with the density of an ant, possessing the strength of an elephant, it would have been invincible.
But such laws of physics didn't apply here. A body's size determined its strength.
Although the sage's smaller form granted it increased agility, its overall power and durability had diminished significantly.
Even so, it preferred dealing with the pull of Banshō Ten'in over becoming an easy target for the Truth-Seeking Balls in its larger form.
The sage burned senjutsu chakra as it clung to the ground with its hands and feet, resisting the pull with all its might.
But Gensou didn't give it a chance to recover.
"Shinra Tensei!"
As soon as the gravitational pull ceased, a ferocious repulsive force struck.
The Great Toad Sage was sent hurtling backward.
Gensou pursued relentlessly, hurling the shorter black rod in his left hand toward the airborne sage.
He didn't stop there.
From his palm, he fired a barrage of black rods like a machine gun, each one whistling through the air toward the sage.
"Grandpa Toad!"
Naruto, who had reached an agreement with Kurama and was preparing for action, couldn't help but shout anxiously at the sight.
The Great Toad Sage didn't disappoint.
Though it couldn't dodge while being propelled backward by the repulsive force, its tongue moved.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The sage's tongue, tougher than steel, deflected all the incoming black rods.
Soon, the sage landed back on the ground.
It was about to catch its breath when its pupils contracted sharply.
A sheet of ice spread rapidly beneath Gensou's feet, propelling him forward at a speed far beyond the sage's expectations.
Whoosh!
A Truth-Seeking Ball darted toward the sage.
It narrowly dodged by shifting its body.
The next second, another Truth-Seeking Ball flew straight for its forehead.
The sage ducked its head, narrowly avoiding the attack again.
But in that instant...
A long black rod shot forward, aimed directly at its brow.
The Great Toad Sage felt a chill between its brows.
Unable to dodge, it reflexively raised its only arm, gripping the black rod tightly.
Drip.
A drop of cold sweat slid down the sage's forehead as it stared at the rod, mere millimeters from piercing its brow.
Opposite it, Gensou held the black rod, his expression indifferent. Seeing the sage's desperate grip, he applied more force.
The sage's arm and entire body trembled violently.
Drip.
The tip of the black rod pierced the skin, and a drop of blood trickled down.
