Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Oh, This is the power of culture
When I landed in England, I was asked to participate in a film shoot.
I decided to accept the offer because it was only one scene.
"Umm, I don't know if my acting is good or not."
"No problem. There's nothing better than a real presence. These are the two dialogues."
The director hands me the script. It certainly didn't seem like there was much to remember.
With the two lines in my head, I climbed up the tower and get ready for filming.
The tense atmosphere on the site makes me nervous, too.
It's not like a selfie on yutube. …
And then a voice begins to echo from below.
"Three, two, one. .."
The countdown started and the camera rolling.
Then both Luina and Auris, who were in acting mode, walking towards me.
"Biggor been in the tower and he hasn't come out."
"Let's find out."
They approach the tower I'm in, while talking to each other.
At the right moment, I use levitation magic to jump down.
When I appeared in front of Ruina and Auris. Their eyes widened.
"What, who are you?"
"Ufufu, I'm a scary witch living in the west tower. If you're going to find out about the tower …"
I make a little taunt as I say my lines, and Auris glares at me.
"… What are you going to do?"
"Now, What will happen? You' ll have to be prepared. Ufufufu"
I smiled nastily and then flew away with my levitation magic.
"Cut!"
The camera stops and the shooting ends.
"Excellent. Both of you played well!"
The director praised Ruina and Auris.
Maybe in the production, my part will be replaced with CG.
Right?
It's enough to bring out the best performance from both of them. Yes.
"Thank you, Lina. You did a good job surprising me."
"Me, too. You're a real wizard."
Both Luina and Auris looked refreshed.
"I'm glad I could help you. But I have to go to London now."
"I've already called the police. They'll pick you up soon."
The lady from the staff seemed to have taken care of it.
While I waited, I spent some time chatting with Luina.
"Well, I didn't get a chance to ask you earlier. What's the movie you're working on?"
"It's a new release in the Hari Potta series. It's a great movie title and I'm nervous about it. ….Well, you're an alien, so you probably wouldn't know."
Luina shrugged her shoulders, laughing lightly.
In case you're wondering, I knew that title, because Hari Potta was one of the games the government gave me.
I hadn't heard of it in my previous life, so I guess the series must have been produced after 1995.
The fact that the movie is also being made into a game means that it must be a huge work.
TLN: Lina — yer a wizard. (in Hagrid voice). Also there is a rumor about new harry potter right?
"This building is amazing, too. Is it a famous castle?"
I say, and look up at the majestic building behind me.
Then Luina answers me with a chuckle.
"It's not a castle. It's a prestigious university in England called Oxford."
"Eh…"
It's a very famous university that even I've heard of. Maybe I should go sightseeing.
While I was thinking about this, the cars that were to pick me up arrived one after the other.
In this situation, I would just be taken away quietly.
Surrounded by my guards, I said goodbye to them and got into the car.
I arrived in London in the evening of that day.
I immediately headed for my customary greetings with the officials.
I shake hands with a blond man in a suit in front of a crowd of media cameras.
"Welcome to the United Kingdom."
"I'm Lina Marderita. It's an honor to be here."
It seems that this man is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
"I heard that you brought us some magical items. I wish there was something I could offer you in return. We will show you around London, so please take your time to look around."
"Thank you very much, I' ve already received enough return. Donkyuu Kong is a great game."
I dared to talk about the game in front of the prime minister, in a dignified manner.
"Donkyuu Kong? I see. Oh, by the way, I heard you wanted to see the Lewa Company."
The Prime Minister looked a little surprised at the inappropriate topic, but he is the head of the country. He made up for it with a diplomatic smile.
"Yes, I wanted to say hello to Lewa for the upcoming release of their game at Maldea."
"I'm glad to hear it. It is an honor to have people on a distant planet enjoy the entertainment our country has created."
The conversation proceeded peacefully and the meeting with the Prime Minister was over.
Afterwards, we went to a fancy dinner, and as usual, I was taken to the top floor of the hotel.
The scary thing is that once you get used to the suites, you start to take them for granted.
Lying in bed, I looked at the TV and saw that I was the subject of a British talk show.
[For the first time, Lina Marderita visited our United Kingdom and had a meeting with the Prime Minister. She brought us some of Maldea's magic products as souvenirs. It's very good news, and I'm sure the people are overjoyed.]
As the presenter explained with video, a man in his fifties sitting on the right side of the room began to speak.
[Yes. So far, it' s been all about the United States, and we've only been able to watch from Europe. Finally, this is our time.]
[It is a credit to the government that the first step has been taken in the UK.]
The man shook his head at the moderator's words.
[No, it seems to be a coincidence. During the meeting with the Prime Minister, Ms. Marderita mentioned the topic of video games. Apparently, the upcoming game to be released in Maldea is being developed by a company in our country called Lewa. And she said she was here to meet and greet with Lewa.]
[I see. However, a British company was developing the game that Maldea had attracted his attention. Rather than a coincidence, I think it should be seen as a result of the efforts of the British to create culture throughout their history.]
[Maybe so. No, I don't play games at all, and sorry I may have been rude. But this means that common diplomatic means won't work against Maldea. They prioritize games over countries with resources and technology, and that's where they willing to trade for their revolutionary magical goods. There is apparently a store in Maldea that has started making sweets out of Canadian syrup, but the trade is still seen as marginal. Negotiations with Maldaea are going to be a struggle for governments around the world, including Britain.]
A university professor and a commentator on TV were talking about games in a very serious manner.
I couldn't help but be amused by it.
Apparently, I had succeeded in impressing them with my love of games.
And then, I heard some interesting statements from the TV that was playing.
[Tomorrow evening, the ambassador will be treated to a performance of Britain's most famous play. Will Shakespeare's story make it to space?]
The host looks at the camera.
I heard that I' ll be able to see a play by Shakespeare, which is one of the most popular cultural events in England.
I'm looking forward to it.
I fiddled with my phone and looked at the social networking site with excitement.
At the top of the page, I saw a familiar image.
It was a picture of Ruina and Auris, the actors I had met during the day, and the pink-haired girl ..., that is, me.
It was a picture of the three of us in front of Oxford University.
[Lina Marderita Takes a Three-shot Photo with Actors from the New Hari Potta Series! Goodwill Ambassador Maldea is going into the movie business!]
That's what the headline said.
Looking at that, the Twitter account of Luina's official account was buzzing.
[I've met a real wizard!]
Along with her tweet, a two-shot photo of Luina and me was attached.
[Wow! There's going to be a real wizard in Hari Potta?]
[That's great. Please make it happen!]
[Lets ask JK Laurang!]
[Will she appear on British TV?]
The comment section is very excited.
Apparently, Hari Potta is a global blockbuster movie.
It seems that the British influence is huge in entertainment.
