Chapter 29: The supervillain (boku no hero)
Honor, charity, and kindness were tools used to control the masses and prevent people from seizing the advantages they deserved because the method to achieve them would worsen someone else's life.
But at the end of the day, you only need to focus on improving your own life, and maybe that of your loved ones. And if that means making the lives of strangers and mere acquaintances worse, so be it.
They would do the same to you if given the chance, and passing up opportunities to enrich your life because it wouldn't be honorable or virtuous was the height of stupidity.
When those around you make mistakes that leave them vulnerable, you should seize the opportunity to enrich yourself before someone else does.
These were the lessons my father taught me while training me to inherit his business.
How to exploit your rivals' mistakes, how to ensure your subordinates remain subordinates without letting their loyalty detect the weaknesses in your goals, how to always come out on top.
What he failed to teach me was how to deal with the randomness of the world.
You could succeed at everything, completely destroy your rivals, and expand your business across the globe, only for the whims of fate to take it all away, without ever giving you the slightest chance to fight back.
I went through life triumphing over every challenge, never hesitating as I left my mark on the world, and this is how it ends?
...Why the hell is there a truck on the sidewalk anyway?!
As my vision is blinded by the ridiculously bright headlights, I can only brace myself as the rogue truck slams into me. Pain shoots through my body, and I spend a moment cursing the world for the injustice of it all.
As my vision was covered by darkness but then my vision cleared looking around. I was sitting in an office chair my eyes locked in on a blonde who was sitting in front of me.
Cold blue eyes stare at me as I resist the urge to squirm, looking around the office in confusion.
The discomfort doubles when I realize that, however I got here, no one bothered to bring my clothes, leaving me sitting naked in front of the undoubtedly very attractive woman.
She snaps her fingers, and I find myself wearing a pair of simple black pants and a white shirt. Her disapproval doesn't fade as she silently stares at me.
In the back of my mind, I finally realize what the hell happened. I died, and the afterlife isn't as ethereal as it's often made out to be.
"Correct, though not entirely," the woman says, her first words since I arrived here, making me jump slightly as I turn to her. "You're dead, but this isn't the usual eternal rest. In your world, there was no heaven or anything like that, and all that awaited you was an eternity of nothingness."
"I see," I say, straightening up. "And yet, here I am. May I ask where I am? What is this place, and who are you?" I ask, making her nod after a moment.
"You're in one of the Guild's offices, brought here by one of our top scouts, Truck-kun, a few hours before your original time of death," she explains, making me pause.
...Truck-kun? I was going to die anyway, so the truck brought me here? Was this some fever dream created by my dying mind?
"You've been chosen from a pool of literally infinite souls to be offered a second chance at life as part of our company. And I am Daenerys, daughter of the founder...
So I was dealing with the equivalent of a CEO's daughter? I could work with that.
"I see, it's a pleasure—" I begin, freezing when Daenerys's eyes narrow slightly, an immeasurable weight falling on me as she does.
"Save the small talk. I voted to offer this opportunity to someone else, but Truck-kun insisted, and Lord Alexander overruled me". Daenerys murmurs to herself, making me nod quickly as I start to sweat.
"I... may I ask what this company does? I know nothing in the world is free, let alone a second chance at life," I ask, making her nod briefly.
"Correct. The Guild's purpose is to give young talent across to the Multiverse. If it had any purpose beyond that, only my father would know, and I wouldn't recommend asking him". Daenerys says expressionlessly.
What the hell had I gotten myself into?
"As for what this means for you... you've been chosen to be sent to a new world with a system, the details of which will be decided in this interview. You'll have contractual obligations during your stay in this new world, and once you're done there, we'll conduct a performance review. This will determine whether you're allowed to keep your system and gain access to more worlds, or if you'll be left in the world you're sent to. Fail your performance review, and you'll quickly find yourself... terminated, which also means your soul will be devoured," Daenerys says with a slight twitch of her lips as I shudder.
"I suppose I don't have much of a choice in the matter?" I ask after a moment, making her laugh. It's a beautiful laugh, almost like a song, but it doesn't make me feel particularly comfortable.
"Of course you do. You can choose to walk out that door at any time. Of course, you'll be sent to the endless void that is the afterlife of your world, but that's up to you. Oddly enough, very few take that option," Daenerys drawls, making me nod.
"I can imagine why. So I guess the only thing left to do is begin this... interview," I say, interlacing my fingers and placing them on my lap.
"We're not so primitive as to need to ask you questions. Our systems have been reviewing your memories since you arrived here. The results will be available momentarily, and then we can decide which system you'll be granted and which world you'll be sent to," Daenerys says, tapping the desk as she looks at the computer screen beside her.
From what looked like a portal made out of fire paper shoot out of it, landing on the table. Daenerys move the papers in front of him.
The papers had different options of different systems he could pick. As he gave her back the paper she looked at him, curious.
"Picking a new system hub" she mutters snapping making the other papers disappear.
"Now, all that's left is to sign the contract, and you'll be ready for your second chance," Daenerys says, pulling out a rather ominous scroll and placing it in front of me along with a pen.
As I read the contract, I pause at a few parts before sighing and grabbing the pen. It's notably vague, simply stating that by accepting the system, I also accept that I'll have to fulfill my obligations to the company. But when my options are this or death, what choice do I have?
As I sign, I wince as I feel a tug on my hand and see the red writing as the pen draws my own blood to write. When I finish signing, Daenerys claps happily.
"Excellent. I wish you luck in your new life, truly I do. I get a bonus if you succeed," Daenerys says with a smile that makes me laugh. After all, it's important to keep your employees motivated.
Before I can respond, my vision goes dark again, and I feel myself falling through the chair I'm sitting on and the floor beneath it.
- Daenerys -
Looking at the contract, she briefly glances at the signature before filing it away.
Asahi, huh?
He'd better succeed. After the last four she processed failed their performance review meeting (or just died before the meeting), she needed a win or she'd look bad in her own performance review.
Boku no Hero Academia was marked as low-risk anyway.
She'd see her new client later, but her shift ended in five minutes, and a well-deserved day off was coming up.
- Asahi -
Well, when they told me I was going to another world, I didn't think they literally meant I'd be reincarnated into this world, but I guess that's what it is.
In this new life, I was reborn into a wealthy family, and I kept my first name, but my last name had changed. Now, my full name is Asahi Intelli, a member of the Intelli family.
The Intelli family was known for their Quirk, IQ, which made them more intelligent—a power I had inherited from my parents.
It wasn't anything extraordinary. It just made your brain process information more logically than anything else. It didn't make you smarter; it just blocked your emotions, making the person in question more logical.
That's why all the members of my family were arrogant sociopaths, seeing anything without logic as idiocy.
Frankly, I didn't care. That's why I was grateful that my parents had died in a villain attack when I was young, leaving me all their possessions. Originally, I was supposed to be taken in by my uncles, but I refused the offer, and given Japan's laws, I was allowed to live alone.
I did this so no one would see what I was doing during these years. Currently, a young black-haired man was sitting in an elegant chair in front of a desk with a large computer and various papers scattered across it.
The young man had intense yellow eyes and was reading a document with a furrowed brow.
"A terrorist villain, Iceman, has broken out of prison and destroyed half of Shibuya. It is recommended to stay away from the area until further notice." Those were the first words I read in the report.
This world was drastically different from the original Boku no Hero world—or at least that's what I thought. Damn, now I regretted not watching more than the first season.
Instead of being in a world that was a copy of the X-Men, I was now in this world.
First of all, the first person to have a Quirk was still the same, but there was a small difference. It turns out the guy had more than just the power to glow, from what I could read and from recorded videos. The guy basically had the power of a god, capable of destroying entire continents, as demonstrated when he destroyed part of Africa.
Currently, it was only known that he was on the planet Mars. The reason was unknown, but he had been there for at least 50 years, and nowadays, he wasn't considered a real threat.
The second major change was that all heroes and villains had received a massive boost in their powers.
The number one hero, All Might, who I remembered only had super strength—the typical power for a Superman clone—in this world, had like seven different powers.
He could create dark tentacles, he could fly, and those were the only confirmed ones. The rest were just speculation.
From the little I saw of the series, everyone in this world had more exaggerated and destructive powers. It was like watching entire cities being destroyed after a villain attack.
Knowing all this, it was somewhat disappointing that I had been born into a family with a power that, in the grand scheme of things, was useless. And the worst part was that there was no sign of my system.
I had even created a criminal organization to try to awaken my system, but nothing had happened. Fourteen years had passed, and I still had nothing.
Tutorial Initialization
The Supervillain System v1.05 is now online.
Finally, I thought with irritation, looking at the screen in front of me. Fourteen years, and I finally got my system.
Select your initial villain archetype.
[Warlord]
You start with raw power. A good option for quick power gain.
[Assassin]
You start with stealth powers and the ability to hide in the shadows and assassinate someone from a distance.
[The Serial Killer]
Like the Assassin option, it gives you powers to hide in the shadows and kill people, but you'll gain a thirst for blood.
[The Cult Leader]
You gain a power focused on the mind, a way to manipulate others, allowing the user to be a master manipulator.
[Warlock]
You gain raw power, but also the ability to gain power by making contracts with other beings.
[The Mad Scientist]
You gain genius-level intellect. You receive thousands of blueprints for creating weapons of mass destruction, giving the user various scientific knowledge.
[The Horror]
You become an unrecognizable monster, gaining immense power in exchange for descending into madness.
Please note that this is simply your initial skill set, and you can expand into other archetypes later.
Looking at my options, I decided which one I should start with. The Horror was immediately out I wasn't going to turn into a monster just for power, and it also wasn't a smart decision, given that I wouldn't be able to explain the existence of my new power.
The only one that truly interested me was Warlord. I've been weak for too long, and besides, I already have a base and a network to start working with, so it shouldn't be as difficult as it normally would be. So, my choice was easy. I selected the option I wanted.
Warlord Class Selected
Power Unlocked
[The body of gold]
This raw power allows the user to turn their skin into a durable golden alloy, greatly increasing their durability.
[The Midas Touch]
This Striker power allows the user to turn anything they touch into solid gold; however, it is limited by the Manton effect and currently cannot affect living matter.
Perk Unlocked
[The Warlord's Banner]
Your name and image inspire fear in the hearts of your enemies and inspire your allies to go the extra mile to prove their loyalty to you. While your minions and followers are in the presence of something that represents you, they gain a small boost to all stats, and enemies gain a small disadvantage.
Feeling my new power, I simply smiled, stretching my fist, which turned golden. I could only smile, feeling the power in my body, but I received a system notification that distracted me.
Included Benefit
[Blank]
You are immune to Master and Thinker abilities. In mundane terms, you are immune to mind-reading or being mentally controlled by powers of that nature.
Admin Note: Trust me, buddy, you're gonna need this.
Looking at my new power, I simply blinked a little.
Well, I couldn't deny that it would be useful in the future, especially with people who can read minds or someone trying to manipulate me with their mind.
Before I could do anything else, I received a message on my phone. Sighing, I saw that it was a message from my secretary, telling me that my "fiancée" had come to talk to me. My parents were old friends of Kai Yaoyorozu, one of the richest men in all of Japan and an old friend of my father's from university.
My parents had decided to arrange a marriage to Kai's first daughter, Momo Yaoyorozu. The purpose of this marriage was simple: to unite our families and our companies.
After my parents' death, the contract remained active.
Yeah, the laws of this world were definitely messed up, but hey, I wasn't going to complain about it when it benefited me.
The girl, Momo Yaoyorozu, had a name I recognized. Maybe she had appeared in season one, but I didn't remember her. Honestly, I barely remembered anything about the series except the protagonist's stupid power and the smiling idiot.
But speaking of my engagement, I wasn't angry about it. Momo was an attractive girl. Honestly, it wouldn't be the first time I'd been with a girl from a wealthy family—I'd done it many times in my past life.
Over the years, it had been easy to manipulate her into thinking she loved me and that I loved her too.
"Let her in," I said simply, and a few minutes later, the door to my office opened, and a black-haired girl entered. She was wearing a white shirt with a small brown sweater over it and a red skirt.
Noticing that no one else was in the room except the two of us, she quickly ran to my side and threw herself onto me. "Asahi-kun, it's been so long! When was the last time we saw each other?" said the girl named Momo, kissing me on the lips. I responded to her affections by moving my hand to her butt, giving it a good squeeze, making her let out a moan.
Before I could start removing her clothes, she stopped me. "Not yet, I have something important to tell you," Momo said, getting up from my lap.
I just sighed. "So, what is it you want to tell me?" I said, placing my hand on her chin, looking at her.
"I'm starting U.A. in a few months," Momo said with a smile. I simply squeezed her head slightly, making her smile.
"Please thank Lady Midnight for me for the recommendation," she said. I had made many connections in my new life, becoming "friends" and close associates with various heroes, given that my company was one of the most famous in the world for producing high-quality hero uniforms.
One of those connections was Midnight, who had my company make her hero uniform, making her one of my most frequent clients.
Speaking of which, I've finished the suit you asked for," I said, pulling out a large box from one of my drawers. Momo grabbed the box and started opening it.
She gave me a flirtatious smile as she started to undress, showing off her sexy body to my eyes. I admired her curvaceous figure, her large breasts, and her ample buttocks until she put on the suit I had made, designed by Momo herself, who had requested this exact model.
The fact that it showed a lot of skin bothered me a little, but I knew that's how her power worked, and I wasn't going to deny her full access to her power just because of my stupid jealousy.
"How do I look?" Momo said with a slight blush on her face, even though I had seen her naked countless times. Without saying anything, I grabbed her and sat her on my lap, starting to grope her body, listening to her moans. I continued playing with her body to my heart's content.
-later-
Stepping out of Momo's arms, the two of us were now in my room. Momo was asleep, her body covered in sweat and a significant amount of semen leaking from both of her holes. Her eyes were closed, but she had a smile on her face.
Leaving my room, I prepared to head out. Outside, a limousine was already waiting for me. As I entered, an attractive woman was waiting inside. She had purple hair, pink eyes, and was wearing a purple dress with a large brown belt.
Kaina Tsutsumi—one of my new pets and a former heroine who left the hero life due to her disdain for hero society. It wasn't difficult to convince her to join me. Now, she's my little assassin and bodyguard.
Half an hour passed, and we finally arrived at our destination. I opened the door and stepped out, appearing in front of a large hotel.
The guards, noticing me, quickly came to greet me. I simply ignored them and walked in, followed by Kaina—better known by her alias, Lady Nagant. As we entered, we were greeted by various employees who directed us to the upper floor of the hotel, which was currently blocked off, with only certain people allowed access.
Entering a massive room, there was a large table with various chairs. One chair, clearly the main seat, was larger than the others. Asahi walked over and sat in that seat.
Eventually, different men and women entered, each taking a seat and showing respect to Asahi, who simply looked bored.
"Let's begin the meeting," Asahi said, standing up from his seat, grabbing the attention of the attendees who quickly sat down.
Asahi listened to the reports from his capos with little interest until he heard information about certain rivals in the country.
"The Shie Hassaikai gang has been moving a lot of their warehouses to our side, attacking our territory. From the few survivors, there was a unique event that happened to them," said one of his capos, catching his attention.
"It seems they lost the ability to use their Quirks," the same capo added, fully capturing Asahi's attention. "Explain," I said, staring directly at him, making him shift uncomfortably.
"L-like I said, it seems they've lost their powers. At least, that's what my men were able to gather. They're currently being held at the hospital," the capo said with a slightly nervous expression.
"I see. Send someone to make them disappear," I said simply. Two of my men immediately left the room.
No one in the room seemed bothered by the order I had given. Regardless of their ranks, those men who survived would be more useful dead than alive at this point.
-later-
After a few days since the meeting, I was in my office, looking through the options in my system.
The system was divided into different sections: [Classes], [Skills], [Perks], [Missions], [Shop], and [Profile]. Each one was self-explanatory.
— [Profile] —
Name: Asahi Intelli
Class: warlord
Race: Human (Quirk)
Body: F+
Mind: E+
Spirit: F-
Magic: Locked
Luck: E
I frowned. My magic stat was locked, and not only that, but how the hell was I supposed to know the difference between one letter grade and another?
Dismissing my status, I checked the other options with mild interest.
I was incapable to go to a different a class until I completed a class mission to either move on to another class or continue with the same one and gain new powers from that class.
The shop option was similar to ordering something online, except instead of money, I had to use something called "credits," which I earned by completing missions and other actions.
The rest of the options were self-explanatory: a list of skills, a list of my perk, and another list of possible missions I could take.
And that was it. That was all my system offered. It wasn't little, but at the same time, I expected more after so many years of waiting.
Criminal Organization Founded - Given this, rewards will be granted: 10,000 credits, [Nullification Gear], [Heroes and Villains Expansion].
"..."
Interesting, I thought, looking at my new rewards, specifically the Heroes and Villains Expansion and the gear... What the hell is that? I thought, selecting it first to see what it was about.
[Nullification Gear] (Active)
A fake Sacred Gear of the Longinus class. Allows the user to nullify any ability within their line of sight.
"..."
That's actually really useful, I thought, looking at my new ability with interest and a desire to use it right away. Now, to check the last thing the expansion.
[Congratulations!
You've unlocked the Heroes vs. Villains Expansion!
Given your actions and the name of your system, guess which role you've been assigned in this expansion!
From now on, random heroic encounters may occur, bringing heroes from across the multiverse to stop your evil deeds. Defeat these do-gooders to earn fantastic rewards!]
"..."
Well, shit
XxX
This is technically a remake of one of my older stories it's another translator one.
