Chapter 37: "The Future Eight Immortals."

"Shendu, we have to destroy this sword!"
"If we let this thing live—this weapon that once sealed you away—then the world will always have something capable of stopping you!"
Looking at the Pure Yang Sword, perfectly intact, Zhou Lan spoke with a deep, angry voice.
He was the eldest of the demon brothers, and also one of the Eight Demon Sorcerer Lords.
His attitude wasn't surprising. When disaster looms, the Eight Demons act as one. Born of the same blood, Zhou Lan's reaction didn't shock Shendu.
Shendu nodded and said, "You have a point. Fire—"
As he was about to make his move, Zhou Lan jumped in right after. "Moon—"
But before they could summon their immense inner power, the Pure Yang Sword lashed out, slashing with incredible speed. It was so fast neither Shendu nor Zhou Lan had time to react before a flash of sword energy was flying right at them.
"What the—?!"
BOOM!
They threw up their defenses just in time, managing to block the giant slash of energy. The sword let out a high-pitched hum, almost like it was laughing at them, then shot off in a streak of rainbow light—grabbing Li Yan as it bolted into the distance.
In just a blink, both the sword and Li Yan were gone—vanished from right in front of their eyes.
"That damn sword spirit played us!" Shendu's face twisted in anger. He had traveled to this time, but his current power hadn't reached its true peak. He figured it might take another thousand years before he got there.
That's exactly why he was being so cautious about the Pure Yang Sword that had come from the future.
"Where the hell did that sword get its power from?"
Zhou Lan's face darkened, and the small hand resting on his chest curled into a tight fist.
"But judging from the direction it escaped in… it looks like my continent!"
"Hmph! Whatever—this sword must be destroyed!" Shendu scoffed. "Without a master, this thing still managed to take a full-force hit from two Demon Lords and come out unscathed!"
"If it can travel through time, who's to say its master won't show up here too? We have to erase them before that happens!"
Right now, Shendu hadn't reached his peak form—he was nowhere near the powerhouse we see in the original story.
He was just a Demon Lord for now. And remember—in the original story, Shendu also had another identity: a demonic sorcerer.
At this point in time, he was more like a juvenile—an undeveloped version of his future self.
But here's the thing—whatever gets written into the Book of Ages… comes true.
So, if the ancient Eight Immortals were really crazy enough to pay the price of time travel and come back to this era, where the Eight Demon Lords weren't yet at full power, they could totally rewrite history—maybe even toss all eight Demon Lords straight into the Demon Netherworld.
"Shendu, we need to call a Demon Council," Zhou Lan said, voice low and serious. "These divine weapons that can counter us… we have to destroy them all."
"Agreed. Let's go to my territory—we'll plan things properly there."
Shendu nodded. Below, Ling'er immediately turned and flew toward Huomu City.
As for Li Yan's demon territory? Shendu deliberately ignored it. Compared to divine weapons, that place was nothing worth worrying about.
Zhou Lan watched this and then followed using his gravitational powers.
In the territories of the other six Demon Lords, something similar was playing out. Just as they were about to destroy the wielders of the divine weapons, the weapons activated and forced the Demon Lords to retreat—taking the wielders and escaping.
Meanwhile, on a continent where no Demon Lord had appeared yet, a humanoid demon stood before a massive book and slowly flipped through its pages.
"Heaven and earth, yin and yang… the black mist gave birth to the Eight Demon Lords, who descended upon the world, bringing the age of demon rule!"
"Hah… doesn't that line from the Book of Ages feel a bit too ironic now?"
"I mean, isn't this already the era of demon rule? Why bother saying it like it hasn't happened yet?"
"And they want the Demon Lords to dominate? Well, fine! If we're using the power of the Book of Ages anyway, let's see what kind of punishment it brings!"
Muttering to himself, the humanoid demon flipped to the final page of the Book of Ages.
The previous page described how the rulers of the Seven Continents called upon divine weapons from the future to seal the Demon Lords and use the weapons as their own.
But in the end, they couldn't match the Demon Lords' strength. They were summoned to this continent, and once the humanoid demon finished reading the Book of Ages, those people would appear before him.
Now, having flipped to the last page, the demon saw what was written and his eyes widened in shock—and even fear.
But the fear faded quickly, replaced by a strange calm.
"Time. Ages. Punishment. Demons…"
He whispered the words to himself, then closed the book.
At that moment, a faint blue light shot from the giant book.
Moments later, the book vanished—and in its place appeared a lotus bud.
"So this is the divine weapon that can suppress the Demon Lords… Well, if messing with the Book of Ages is gonna get us punished anyway, we might as well drag the Demon Lords down with us."
"Wouldn't you all agree?"
Somehow, the other seven demons who had fought back against the Demon Lords using divine weapons were now also there. They exchanged glances—and nodded silently in agreement with the demon standing above.
Each of the eight demons now held a divine weapon in hand. There was a cold, determined look in their eyes. One thing was clear—they had all taken on human form, showing themselves to the world as humanoid demons.
Then, all eight demons left the Time-Space realm and returned to the leader demon's territory—where they would wait for the arrival of the Eight Demon Lords.
Once they were gone, the Book of Ages reappeared.
Lines of text began engraving themselves into its pages:
[In the ancient demon era, eight demons on Blue Star refused to bow to the Demon Lords. They used the power of the Book of Ages to summon divine weapons from the future to suppress the Demon Lords.]
[Because they tampered with the power of time, they suffered a devastating punishment—becoming trapped in an endless, inescapable spiral of fate.]
In the distant future—during the Age of the Eight Immortals…
Inside a magnificent golden palace, the Eight Immortals sat in a circle.
"It's done. The Eight Demon Lords who once ravaged the world are sealed."
"We created a sealed realm using the laws of the world itself. There's no way they can break out. Now, it's time for us to fall into deep slumber."
"Our continued presence would only unbalance the yin-yang harmony of this world. Too much yang, not enough yin."
"As for how the world develops in the future—that's none of our concern."
"Who would've thought that those other demons—also born of darkness—would be the ones to mess with time and help us?"
"Right? Who could've predicted that? We were worried sick, and then boom—they handed us the win on a silver platter."
"Alright, time to go."
A moment later, a mysterious energy surrounded the Eight Immortals, and a golden light flashed behind them.
In an instant, the Eight Immortals turned into radiant streams of immortal light and vanished.
After they left, a treasure box disappeared into the void without a trace.
And the palace that once honored the Eight Immortals? It faded away too—gone from the mortal world.
