Jedi Insurgency

Chapter 24: Jedi 024

Boarding the Falcon, Corvus saw that Fang Zar was wrapping up a holocall, so he took a seat at the couch, and began to review his status, to see what had changed, and where he could place his points.

The first thing he noticed was that he was at level 19. This was a little odd to Corvus, as he recalled that the exp required to advance was more than 100k. From the Imperial Inspectorat to now, he killed Tarkin, 2 or 3 Imperials, and the Anzat. That couldn't amount to more than 105,000 exp.

Glancing at his current exp bar, he was resting at 14,730/190,000 to lvl 20. Just 6 more levels away from attaining the skills of a low-tier Jedi Master.

To Corvus, the only explanations were his quests. Pulling up Path of the Jedi, it seemed he had really gone far.

Before, he was at part III, where helping 10 people would net him 4,500 exp. Now, it was a bit higher.

[Path of the Jedi VI: Help the Innocent, Vulnerable, Pure, Just or Weak: 23/250. Reward: 30,000 EXP]

Thinking about it, out of the thousands of people he released from prison, the Kotor system must've categorized them as fulfilling the quest objective.

Mentally shrugging his shoulders, Corvus wasn't mad at this development. He always intended to continue this chain quest.

Now that he had a moment of rest in which he wasn't infiltrating a high stakes venue, or assassinating someone, Corvus examined his stat page, as he hadn't done so since he was level 15.

As a reminder, he had four menus to peruse upon level up.

These were: Skills, Abilities, Attributes and Feats.

Skills were things like Stealth, Demolition, Persuade, Awareness, etc.

Attributes were stats like strength, dexterity, constitution, etc.

Abilities were Force powers.

Feats were actives like [Power Attack] or passives like [Toughness].

The Consular class granted Force Power every level, except on every third level, he had 2 Force Power points, such as his current level, 3.

He also gained a Feat every 3 levels.

Whereas he gained Skill points every level, and a stat point every 4 levels.

Starting with his character sheet, he had gained a point at level 16.

STR 10

DEX 17 -> 18

CON 14

INT 14

WIS 14

CHA 12

He chose to increase dexterity the most so that he would be better at handling his lightsaber. If this latest encounter with the Anzat proved anything, it's how important speed, and accuracy were. Going forward, Corvus contemplated if he should leave DEX at 18 for a bit, and focus on INT.

As it stood, he could only cast 7 abilities in a row before he gassed himself. If he had a larger FP (Force Power) bar, then maybe he could spam abilities like a true space wizard. It was something worth thinking about, but for now he would stick to DEX as his dump stat.

Next were the feats.

He was torn between improving Regeneration and Toughness. Leveling Regeneration would be great for his plan to spam Force abilities, but Toughness was great for moments like when he was sliced across the forearm.

Corvus didn't have a doubt in his mind that his arm wouldn't 'only' have been wounded if he didn't have the base level Toughness. Heck, there's a world where the point blank thermal detonator explosion took him out.

As much as he wanted to become the grand wizard, Corvus liked living a little more.

Reluctantly, he placed a point into Improved Toughness.

Feats:

Lvl

0 Jedi Defense + Force Sensitive + Force Focus

1 Finesse: Melee Weapons

3 Toughness

6 Regenerate I

9 Two-Weapon Fighting (Padawan)

12 Improved Two-Weapon Fighting (Knight)

15 Master Two-Weapon Fighting

18 Improved Toughness

Next were skills. Corvus was pretty happy where they were at, for the most part. The only exception was Persuasion, as Corvus had witnessed first hand how effective it was against die hard Imperials. If he could get assholes like Tagge to rethink their ideology, then it was worth investing further into.

Otherwise, Corvus decided to branch out into Stealth, and Security for now.

If fighting against a guy who could smell his pheromones was anything to go by, Corvus determined he could certainly benefit from enhancing the ephemeral 'stealth' stat.

As for Security, Corvus would have been locked out in the vault if Cirio had died. With a high level of Security, he could bypass biometric bullshit with the bullshitery that was his system.

Skills:

Computer Use: 17

Demolitions: 10

Stealth: 12 -> 16

Awareness: 20

Persuade: 20 -> 26

Repair: 10

Security: 10 -> 14

Treat Injury: 10

As for Force Powers, he was holding onto one free floating point, and had learnt 2 new ones during his fight against Maw:

[Force Suppression III]

[Slow III]

[I] = Low-Knight

[II] = Knight

[III] = High-Knight

[IV] = Low-Master (Available lvl 25)

Lastly, Corvus reviewed his other quest, the Path of the Shadow.

[Path of the Shadow:

1,000/1,000 Stealth Kills

5/100 Infiltrations

2/10 Purged

1/1 ??? (Slay a Dark Adept)

Reward: ???, + 1 All Attributes]

Glancing at the quest, Corvus was happy to see he was halfway to completion. However, finishing 95 more infiltrations sounded like a major pain in the ass, and where would he find 8 more people corrupted with the darkside to purge?

Mentally shaking his head, Corvus finished going over his stats, and Un-Paused.

Turning to Zar, he saw that the man was stroking his beard with a complicated look.

The Force nudged at Corvus, and he knew that the senator was unsettled about something.

"What troubles you, Senator? All is well with House Organa?"

"It is not good, I am afraid. The Queen is in labor, and is suffering complications. Her last three attempts at giving birth resulted in stillborns. I'm afraid now is not an ideal time to visit Senator Organa."

Corvus found himself sharply inhaling at this heavy news.

'That's right, Bail told Obi-Wan when adopting Leia that he always wanted a daughter…by taking Leia in, it was the perfect mask to hide her from Vader or Palpatine. However, it was so perfect, because Queen Organa was publicly pregnant. To the universe at large, Leia wasn't adopted…this means her child right now is sure to face death!!!'

Eyes going wide, Corvus slapped himself on the face to get his blood flowing, and ran towards the cockpit.

"Message Bail, tell him you have the best healer in the galaxy on the way!" Corvus shouted over his shoulder, then began the Falcon for take off.

Running after Corvus, Zar took a seat next to him, and began to speak in an out of breath tone.

"I believe you, Jedi, but Organa barely had any time to answer my call as it was. I doubt he'll answer now that his wife is at a critical moment."

"Dammit all. We're saving that baby." Corvus said with finality, then after checking his map, punched the accelerator, and merged into traffic like a madman.

Using the Force to help him, and his incredible DEX stat, Corvus narrowly avoided several different flying cars, and swooped around buildings like a podracer going through a desert canyon.

Arriving in record time, Corvus landed the Falcon on a pad at a giant skyscraper. The entire building was owned by the Organas, and whilst Corvus was drawn in by its artistic flare, and tasteful architecture, he had a mission to complete.

Fang Zar was holding his heart when they landed, and was looking at Corvus with bug eyes.

Right when Corvus was going to depart, a light within the cabin flashed. Feeling a warning in the Force, Corvus pressed it.

[YT-1300 light freighter, this is a restricted airspace! You have 5 minutes to vacate the premises before your ship is annihilated.] A professional voice intoned.

"He's all yours Senator, I'll meet you inside." Corvus gestured, then rapidly descended the ramp.

As he did so, he quick-changed his outfit, donned a white doctor's coat, carried a miscellaneous black bag, and wore a mask that resembled a turtle.

Moving down the ramp, the early night of Coruscant chilled the air, and the sight of traffic jams entered his periphery.

Advancing on a sort of bridge-like the one the Falcon was parked on in Cloud City-Corvus met a squad of 6 heavily armed men. Each one of them touted heavy blasters, and clipped to their belts were energy shields. He also noticed a pair of rather large turrets popping out of a water fountain, pointing at the Falcon.

Bail Organa was an important man, it only stood to reason that he would have professionals in his service.

"Good evening gentleman. Queen Organa is about to give birth, yet it is doomed to be a miscarriage. I am the universe's greatest physician, and I must see her to prevent this tragedy!" Corvus spoke hurriedly without breaking his stride.

Five of the guards shuffled in place, and looked like they might stand aside, however, one of them was wearing a few medals, and he pointed his blaster at Corvus, an action swiftly mimicked by his subordinates.

"Turn around now, and I won't see you rotting in a cell. It's 20 years for violating a Senator's residence. Leave. Now." The guard threatened.

Corvus knew that he could reason with these guys if he had 5 more minutes, however, he felt a premonition in the Force, and knew that the nascent life within this building was in flux.

He didn't have five minutes.

Without saying a word, Corvus cast [Speed/Valor/Energy Resistance/Force Barrier].

Properly warded, he ran at the tight formation of guards at incredible speeds.

The guard leader managed to get a dozen shots off from his automatic weapon, proving he was worthy of guarding Organa, however, Corvus was simply too unfair.

Running into the line of men, Corvus ran them over like bowling balls, then moved into the premises.

Holding onto the feeling he just had, Corvus trusted his senses, and started to blitz down hallways, and up flights of stairs.

During his journey, an alarm started to ring, automated turrets popped down from every corner, guards mobilized, and metal sheets began to fall down from the ceiling covering doors/walls.

Coming across his first security door, Corvus judged that this metal wasn't any thicker than 1 or 2 feet.

Igniting his lightsabers, he ran at the door full speed without any hesitation.

Slicing the door to pieces, Corvus dashed low to evade a whirlwind of blaster fire, and between moments of Pause, dodged everything as optimally as he could, and deflected what he couldn't into security turrets, blasters, or out where no one could get hurt.

Moving across a beautiful open garden, Corvus ran at a hanging vine, then swung on it like Tarzan, and moved himself up a floor.

Crashing through a giant pane of steel coated glass, Corvus rolled into a group of over a hundred guards who were all primed with their weapons ready.

Except they weren't pointed at him, they had all been pointing at a stairwell!

At that moment, they all turned around, but they were so compact, the guards couldn't shoot at him without engaging in friendly fire.

Corvus lowered the energy on his lightsabers, placing them into training mode-a less lethal option Jedi used when training amongst themselves-and he went to town speed blitzing in and around the House Organa guards like an ice skater working for a gold medal at the Olympics.

Lightsabers acting like powerful shock prods, whoever he touched collapsed to the ground in a state of paralysis.

Finishing up this room, Corvus noticed that the next door up was shielded with a capital ship grade shield. His Awareness was telling him that the thickness of this door wasn't anything to scoff at either.

Entering Pause so that he could calm himself down, and take a methodical approach to this situation, Corvus discovered that he was almost directly underneath his target. It was an area conveniently bereft of any shielding.

Thankful that even people in a sci-fi reality were more focused on fortifying the doors than the walls, Corvus exited Pause, increased the output on his sabers back to normal, and jumped more than 20ft in the air to slash through into the next room.

Breaking through the ceiling/floor of the next room in a shower of sparks and molten slag, Corvus sheathed his lightsabers, then stepped forward towards Bail Organa and his wife.

"My name is Revan, Jedi Knight, and I'm here to rescue yo-" Corvus got out, and then noticed the blue-faced baby being cradled in the dead-eyed queen's arms. That signal of life was faint…but it was still there!

Bail stood up from his hunched over position with his wife. His eyes were red, yet even so, he possessed the dignity of a monarch and seasoned statesman.

"Leave and never return. The Jedi Order are no longer friends of House Organa." Bail said in a ragged, breathy tone. He then turned back to his wife, and made soothing noises.

Corvus held out his hands, and cast both Heal, as well as Valor on the three of them.

The Organas seemed to react positively to this. Queen Organa regained her color, and Bail wasn't quite as angry, however, the child was still blue. Heal had done nothing.

Taking a step closer, Corvus cast Heal one more time. Green, minty energies passed through the baby, but almost nothing happened. He felt that only 2-3% of the child was rescuitated due to his act, at this rate, he would run out of FP before he could save this young life!

"...perhaps I misspoke, Jedi. I can see your efforts are genuine. I am sorry to have reacted the way I did, but please, leave my wife and I alone. We need some closure. In the meantime, someone will prepare a room for you to wait in until I am more presentable to talk." Bail said with great difficulty.

Again, Corvus ignored Bail, and this time, entered his menu to search for a solution.

He only had one point left, so he had to make it count.

Initially, Corvus considered upgrading Heal II -> Heal III. However, whilst browsing the available abilities, one popped out at him.

Revitalize.

One of the ULTIMATE Lightside abilities, it did what Palpatine could only dream of.

Bring the dead back to life.

Reading the text for Revitalize I, it said [Resurrect those who have died-or are near death-within five minutes of their passing]

In a way, it was ironic, Corvus now had the power to save others from death, but didn't have the power to save himself.

Withholding a laugh, Corvus placed his point from leveling up to 19 into Revitalize, then Un-Paused.

Trying one last time, Corvus cast his newest ability, and a white light fell upon the child.

A moment later, it-no he-coughed, and color returned to him as he was held in his mother's embrace.

"It's a miracle!" The Queen clutched her child, and exclaimed. Tears poured down her face as the baby giggled up at her.

"What was your name again?" Bail rose from his place by his wife's side, then stuck a hand out for a shake.

"They call me Revan."
